Indigeno has been a great surprise. It has a small menu so you can try and be amazed by every single dish! It is a small bistrot with an excellent food quality. You can perceive in every dish the study and research of the chef who also plays with flavour of different cultures to create unique plates. I greatly appreciated that the restaurant produces many of its own ingredients, from seitan to vegan cheeses to fermented legumes.

Piatti ricercati e dal gusto inimitabile, con ricette sempre studiate accuratamente e ingredienti selezionati. Da Indigeno nessun piatto è mai banale né lo si può trovare altrove. I menù variano di stagione in stagione e anche nelle transizioni si trovano menu "ibridi". Insomma, non ci si stufa mai!

One of my favourite places in Rome - Edit
Without any doubt, one of my favourite places in Rome. Small and cozy, it is run by a lovely couple; she cooks and he serves (and he’s also a somelier, so great wine!). The menu changes seasonaly and often has special dishes. The chef is an expert in fermentations as you’ll see! Really recommended, on my top 3 restaurants in Rome!

We went there quite early for dinner and were the only guests. We had the Gnocchi and the Tofu dish which were both really good and had also a very good red wine. The dessert with the baked pear was also very tasty. The cake of the day, on the other hand, fell a little behind, but was still good.

Great place for an apertivo - Edit
We stopped by for an apertivo. We got a glass of natural wine and 3 tasters for 15 euro - a falafel dish, a bruschetta with nut cheese, figs and vegan proscuitto, and tempura veggies. The food was creative and flavourful and the drinks were lovely. Not far from the tram line!

Read morethey have an amazing natural wine selection which is not so common in rome, their cheese board is so different and flavourful, not to mention the main dishes!!! we had the tempeh and the savoury pancakes both dishes were so well made and properly spiced, it was truly a delightful dinner!
not to mention that the service is also very good! the staff is so kind and the environment is just lovely

I piatti e le materie prime non sono male ma la scelta è davvero limitatissima (hanno un paio di antipasti e 5/6 piatti principali, due dolci di cui uno è una coppa di frutta). Gli antipasti erano molto buoni, soprattutto i formaggi che fanno loro, ma i piatti principali erano un po’ anonimi (il riso venere era buono ma nulla di diverso da quello che si può fare anche a casa). Anche il dolce non mi ha entusiasmato molto. I prezzi non sono eccessivi (salvo forse gli 11€ per il riso). Tutto sommato non lo boccio ma, almeno con il menu attuale non tornerei. Gli lascio il beneficio del dubbio perché è aperto davvero da pochissimo.

Ci dispiace che il nostro riso nero non ti abbia convinto. Essendo un riso integrale, ha circa 45 minuti di cottura, saltato con punte di asparagi e fagiolini al sale affumicato, nespole caramellate e crema di mandorle fermentata al miso di orzo. Abbiamo un menù limitato, e ci piace anche dirlo e farlo sapere proprio perché cerchiamo solo ingredienti di qualità, zero sprechi e stagionale. Venire da noi è un po' come venire nel nostro salotto, dove si mangia quello che c'è, la cucina che ci piace proporre. Cambiamo molto spesso i piatti nel menu, in base all'ispirazione del momento, a quello che i nostri produttori di fiducia ci offrono. Purtroppo chi cerca un menù vasto e senza fine da noi non potrà essere accontentato. Basterà venire qualche volta in più e trovare sempre qualche nuovo piatto. 😉
