Decent vegan Indian food

Vegan isn't often a thing for Indian food, but here one has options. I enjoyed the Dal and Roti.

Pros: Good vegan options

Soul food

Got to enjoy a very delicious vegan curry (served with rice and additional naan bread).💗Such soul food to warm up during colder days. There are many different vegan options & as the name suggests, I was very happy after eating dinner there.😄

Longstanding place, now more explicitly vegan-friendly

Happy India has been around for quite a while (since 1997 no less, long before the Saravanaa Bhavans, Masala Masalas and maybe even Shantis of Stockholm), and as such, you gotta respect their perseverance. It is a rather standard restaurant in my opinion, both in terms of food (the usual fare) and location (more gloomy than cosy, if you ask me). However, a while back they put up a sign stating "vegan and non-vegan", and that alone makes me want to feel sympathetic. Long are the days when veganism in this city was taboo, when ice cream sold as "sorbet" would sell like hot cakes, but not if labeled "vegan" (true story). For better or for worse, veganism has been embraced by the mainstream and Happy India does not want to lag behind. Seems like a sound choice to me.
