A nice place - Edit
I've visited this place twice now when staying with my family. There are loads of vegan friendly options and the food is pretty good. The most recent thing I had was an orange tofu bowl and it was an enormous portion. It was pretty good, but maybe a bit too zesty for my taste. My husband had a burger which he thought was pretty awesome. The service isn't amazing, nobody ever seems happy, but I guess they're busy all the time. Oh well, I'd still come back - especially for one of their cakes.

great food - Edit
I went twice in two days. Great food and friendly staff. I had the quinoa burrito and the chickpea burger both of which were excellent. Get the sweet potato fries. I loved all the baked goods I had. Staff was friendly and had fun shirts. The smoothies are a bit watered down and I cannot recommend. Everything can be made vegan.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! - Edit
Since going vegan two years ago, I discovered this little treasure in the Pearl Brewery area of SA. Green Vegetarian has the most yummy food for vegans and vegetarians alike. I love that they can make anything on the menu vegan. My favorite is their vegan chickpea veggie burger with vegan chipotle mayo and guacamole with a side of mashed potatoes and vegan gravy. While I prefer to be oil free as well, Green Vegetarian is a yummy treat when I'm craving some of their delicious sweet potato fries or even something sweet, like one of their delicious vegan cupcakes! YUM!

Spring Visit to San Antonio - Edit
So excited that Green is vegetarian AND KOSHER! I came here with my husband and cousin a few months ago, so I can't remember exactly what we ordered. But overall it was a really great experience with great food. Their mint lemonade was good and I loved the outdoor seating. Highly recommend

Our first time here and we were thoroughly impressed. It'll be a frequent stop whenever we're in San Antonio! Everything on the menu can be made vegan and as soon as we mentioned the word vegan the server was careful to clarify on everything we ordered that we wanted the vegan version.

Great Vegan Options - Edit
Tonight was the third time that I've eaten here and plan to eat there again later this week. I visit San Antonio for one week a year and this is a favorite. Tonight I had the Fish and Chips and it was great. I really enjoyed the slaw as it had a lite sauce that was slightly sweet.

Green just opened their third location (in Houston), and they're about to open the first vegetarian drive through in Texas.

Greens saved me! - Edit
I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and had to be in San Antonio for work. I stayed on the Riverwalk and while there are some places that have a few vegan options, it wasn't ideal. I walked to Greens (a lovely long walk along the river) and had a wonderful meal there. I had the Protein Salad and was amazed at how good the roasted tofu was. The pecan hummus was so different and delicious and the Almond Joy cupcake was one of the best vegan baked goods I've ever eaten. I have to go back to San Antonio in late June and I will be eating here as often as possible.

Mediterranean Madness - Edit
Visiting San Antonio with a posse of vegans and looking for a compassionate place to eat. We landed at Green for Sunday Brunch and LOVED it. Extensive menu with choices ranging from healthy to comfort food (big nasty burger) so there is something guaranteed to please. My Mediterranean Bowl was filled with tabouli, pecan hummus, dolmas, tzatziki, kale salad, falafel and lots of other tasty things. There were "yums" all around our table. The restaurant was packed, but service was friendly and speedy. Would definitely go for a repeat visit. Would be great to see the menu shift from veg to vegan and go cruelty-free!

Our favorite restaurant! - Edit
This is my husband and I's favorite restaurant! I have never had a meal here that I did not thoroughly enjoy. The food is delicious, the service outstanding, and the atmosphere pleasant. We are vegan, and almost everything on the menu can be made vegan. The only problem you'll have with Green is deciding what to order!

Hit or miss, but mostly delicious - Edit
I really enjoyed my meal here. Cheap, plentiful and delicious. I had the beet down juice which was very flavourful but the garlic was a bit zingy for my liking. I had the raw collard wrap which was nice although fell apart easily. I sampled my friends' dishes which were great (more flavourful than mine). They really do the sauces very well! The sesame chicken (seitan) was well flavoured, the chopped BBQ quesadilla (not vegan) had a strong BBQ flavour within the sauce but was nice and crisp. The special of the day was crispy asian eggplant with a delicious sauce over rice and steamed broccoli. The kale salad (side) was delicious. Simple but very flavourful. The refried beans were more like baked beans and were ok. My friends thought the vegan cupcakes were very good but I didn't try them. I wish I was staying longer so I could go back. I ended up taking half my collard wrap home as leftovers.
Read moreEdited to add: The food can be a bit hit-or-miss. I came back a second day and the kale salad was so spicy I had to return it. The macrobiotic plate was great though, which I took home mostly as leftovers since it was so huge. The raw sushi was a bit lacklustre.

My husband and I are regulars at this place for a reason, we go about twice a week! Can't seem to get enough. This is a definite place to try if you live in or visit San Antonio. We are vegan and anything on the menu with dairy can easily be made without!! I love Green!! And Chris the Chef/Owner Rocks too, his amazing upbeat attitude definitely makes worth visiting often!!

Veggie Delight done RIGHT! - Edit
I love Green. Let me restate: I LOVE GREEN! I can't say enough good stuff about this place. Their food is excellent. Their staff is friendly. The new location in the Pearl Brewery is starting to get a lived-in feel, and the patio is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy a meal when the weather is nice.
Read moreI recently moved from San Antonio, but while I lived there, I was a constant customer at Green. As in... every day. And I NEVER had a bad meal there. Ever. This place does veggie food RIGHT. Most of their food is actually vegan, or can be made vegan by switching Daiya for cheese and tofu for eggs (at breakfast).
A few of my favorites:
Breakfast:
Avocado Tofu Benedict. Scrambled, delicious seasoned tofu on a toasted wheat bun with spicy chipotle mayo (all condiments and breads are vegan) and avocado, with a side of garlic hashbrowns. YUM.
Lunch/dinner:
Sesame chik'n. I don't like mushrooms. This dish makes me love them. Always get the kale salad as a side -- the Asian flavor of the soy sauce and apple cider vinegar (among other things) in their amazing homemade kale salad dressing is a perfect complement to the spicy sesame sauce. The coconut cilantro rice turns down the spicy temperature.
Chik'n fried steak. This fried wheatmeat is smothered in the most savory, delicious gravy anyone could dream of. The mashed potatoes are a house blend of regular and sweet potatoes, so smooth and creamy you'd never guess they're vegan.
Chopped BBQ sandwich. Amazing. If you don't like salt, though, you likely won't care for this, as it's a bit high on the sodium content. Makes perfect food coma-inducing indulgence if you add a side of their garlic salt-sprinkled homemade French fries.
Orange tofu. This is a new addition to their specials, and it's delicious, though VERY spicy (heavy on the red pepper flakes).
Buffalo tofu fingers. Yes, they're an appetizer, but can be a meal in themselves. Yum.
Their sweet tea changes daily, but my favorite flavors are the peach and the peach raspberry.
Their desserts are all vegan and all amazing. I recommend the s'more cookie or the candy bar cupcake if you like baked goods, but their soft serve soy ice cream is not to be missed.
The staff are friendly -- pretty much everyone knew me on sight and by name, knew my customer id number (for their dining rewards program - ask them about it!), and knew my usual order. In short, a meal at Green always felt like coming home.
Green is expanding to open a restaurant in Houston, as well.
Pros: Excellent food, Friendly staff understand vegan lifestyl, Neat location downtown (patio!)
Cons: Nothing! This place is the gold standard

There on a bad day. - Edit
It started out positive. But turned south quickly.
Read moreNo green tea. Ordered a Salad followed by a veggie bowl. Hubby ordered green burger with side of sweet potato fries. Asked for no cheese on my dish as I am vegan gluten free. Veggie bowl came out first with cheese on it. Sent back. Hubbies burger arrived minus his s.p. Fries.
I get my salad....no dressing. Ended up with raspberry vinaigrette which is not my dressing of choice. Asked for evo/vinegar....no luck. Hubby did not get his fries for quite awhile. He was already done his burger when they landed. My veggie bowl was a disappointment. Beans and rice scooped onto salad greens.
Staff very chaotic, unorganized.
Too bad as great location and fun decor.
We travel extensively always searching out veggie dining. Usually good. We drove away saying that this veggie place was our first negative experience in the veggie restaurant world.
Pros: Good enviroment, Good menu
Cons: Unorganized, Food bland, Poor service

Excellent Food - Edit
Over a 5 day trip to San Antonio we ate at Green three times. Every meal was excellent and I loved that I could get daiya cheese on anything. I recommend the artichoke quesadilla and the avocado Benedict made with their fabulous tofu scramble. I would not order the protein salad again. It was just not great.
