Fastfood - Edit
When we were here for diner, the service was quiet unattentive so we had to work to get what we wanted.
Read moreNot all the choices of the menu were available so I had to make a last minute choice.
For me this was more overpriced fastfood.

Just ok - Edit
Had the vegan garden bowl. Was so overpowering with garlic flavor that I couldn't eat it all. Would have been a great option with less garlic or even no garlic at all. Also had a chamomile, lavender lemonade. It was so acidic and sour we couldn't drink it. Really nice staff and cool atmosphere. Food just wasn't good. My husband had fish and said it was delicious. #Veganuary

Nettes Personal. Wirklich zu empfehlen.

Right when you walk in you know you’re in for a cool experience…. Sat in the way back section and it was very serene. We weren’t that hungry so we had the guacamole with chips (came with some mango salsa and pico which were both good too) and the hummus.
Read moreGuacamole was spot on and the hummus was delicious as well! It came with a beet hummus and regular flavor, along with some falafel, celery/carrot sticks and bread. It was probably the best hummus I’ve ever had. Delicious pairing of flavors!
Pros: Great ambience! , Delicious veg/vegan options, Chill vibe!

We had the vegan tortillas and really loved them. It's a huge portion so I didn't manage to finish mine. The atmosphere was really nice.

Exceptional Desserts + fun environment - Edit
Whereas I agree with other reviewers that the vegan main meals could use a few tweaks, I had to balance in the fact that the ambiance is really pleasant, the servers are wonderful, and it is one of the few places where I have been able to enjoy dessert! Each day they offer at least 2 kinds of vegan, gluten free desserts that are also free of refined sugar (and sometimes completely sugar free). This is really important for those of us that unfortunately can’t eat much sugar/gluten. I believe this might not be on the menu, so ask your server! I went there a few times just to eat dessert and Kombucha while listening to live music.
Read moreThe atmosphere is relaxed, with bright colors, local art all over the place, and a covered patio. It feels so magical to watch the tropical rain drops in their little alley like entrance.
And there is also a cute kitty playing around, for all of us cat people.
As far as the main meals, I’ve tried the cauliflower tacos, falafel burger, and Tico Vegano breakfast. I would not recommend the burger due to how dry it is. I loved the abundant guac and salsa on the cauliflower tacos though. I had the Tico breakfast today and it was great for me, though both my husband and I agreed it could use another tortilla (they only serve one small taco size tortilla per meal).
We have had the same waitress many times now, and she is so sweet, lively, and attentive. She even dealt with all our questions as first time Jaco visitors.
Pros: GF vegan dessert, Atmosphere

I felt the need to reply - that cheesecake is not vegan. My boyfriend and I went here and were asking about the vegan cheesecake - I even showed your picture and he said “no that is our passion fruit cheesecake and it is not vegan. The only vegan dessert we have is the chocolate cake.” It was confusing for us too because the first waiter mentioned the cheesecake when we asked about dessert but the other server who spoke better English assured us they do not make a vegan cheesecake. 😕

Good food, poor service - Edit
Good food and many vegan options. We had to wait for a long time for someone to take our order and then our food stood on the kitchen counter for about 15min before someone picked it up to bring it to us

If you are Vegan and travelling with kids this place is great. They have a kids corner that they can play while you eat. They also have a few Vegan options and very friendly staff. Downside, is it's a bit pricy.

Good food but confused staff - Edit
Really nice vegan options clearly labeled. I had the tacos and my husband had the falafel. Both were great. They also had a great hot sauce. The staff didn’t really seem super knowledgeable about veganism and offered some options that were vegetarian. The service took a long time which was fine because we enjoyed sitting the the quirky garden. Would return but be careful with options suggested.

A bit disappointing - Edit
The food tasted okay but was a little uninteresting and overpriced for what we got. The hummus and falafel came with very little bread (or falafel) and the cauliflower tacos were a little strange as they were served with spinach leaves and lentils (?) and no sauce, so I needed to ask for hot sauce to make them taste better because they were quite dry. The place itself is pretty cool and I imagine a great place to hang out at night, but I wouldn't come here to eat again.

A Surprisingly Tasty Take on Old Classics - Edit
A totally beautiful setting with very tasty vegan options. I had the Green Room salad with felafel. I was a bit disappointed to have to have felafel (which is usually a bit boring) but it was a very interesting take on it and the salad was seriously good. I’ll be eating here again for sure.

We went to this place at least once per day during our trip. My only complaint is that they did not have the vegan cheese every day, however when they did have it I would highly recommend the quesadilla.

Green Room not quite up to standards - Edit
We had lunch our last day in Jaco here. The entrance is through the Tiendita, which may slip by unnoticed, if you are looking the Green Room. They did not have any vegan cheese when we were there, so the selection was limited. The portabella mushroom dish was excellent however, fresh produce and a flavorful marinade made the dish. The polenta dish was also good, but the portabella was better. Each dish was served with Gallo Pinto that was tasty as well.

Location in Happy Cow map is not accurate- closer to the main road than the beach. Love this place! They do have a lot of meat dishes but have vegan and vegetarian options and can make special vegan dishes like portobello burgers by request. Staff is knowledgeable about different diets. They sell their own vegan cheese, too. Will be back soon!

Vegan Options Available in Jaco with excellent service! - Edit
First and foremost, super friendly staff that is Pura Vida! While sadly not completely vegan, therefore unable to rate this place higher- they have vegan options available! Additionally, if you're friendly they can help make any modifications to make your meal vegan. First day I enjoyed myself a vegan quesadilla with almond cheese and veggies inside, I wish I could have eaten more! They also had chips and salsa. This place has a selection of craft beers as well. The subsequent day for my late breakfast; I had delicious banana and almond milk pancakes. And because I couldn't help myself the already vegan breakfast potatoes and fries that I shared with my friend. Overall, staff was great, meal was wonderful, and I will continue coming back here each time I'm in town!
