That meal 🥰

Small traditional shop with tatami floor.

The selection is large, I opted for a set.
Everything was really tasty, but the karage, sooooo delicious!

Pros: Friendly staff

OMG what is this place

Staff is waaay friendly, food is sooo delicious, portions are big, price really reasonable, ambiance is perfect, typical Japanese seating restaurant (this kind of experience was also in our bucket list!). The bear parfait is so beautiful, had to take courage to eat it - be careful that is pretty big, 2 people can easily eat it, maybe 3! The lunch set was amazing and full of flavour, so filling!!! We were so happy at the lunch time that we came back in the evening for dinner!!!

BEST FAKE MEAT EVER

The staff is so nice, just wonderful people
The layout of the room is really cozy and welcoming, you feel right at home.

The food is just exceptional, one of the best vegan dish I ever had. They have their own subsitute meat that taste so good, it's juicy and crispy, truly amazing.

Also it's quite filling, you get a copious amount of food for the price. I do recommend the little extra for the dessert ice cream bear, well worth it.

You MUST go there if you're ever in Nagoya, you won't regret it.

Worth eating! More delicious than you imagine!

This restaurant is a little gem in Nagoya. It’s tucked away down the side of a little building but there is a sign so you know where to go. It’s very traditional (sitting on the floor to eat) but the food is absolutely delicious 🥰 Me and my non vegan friend had the lavish meal and we were both extremely satisfied with the taste, presentation and how filling it was. It’s also very reasonably priced (in my opinion) 😊

Pros: Taste, Presentation , English menu (friendly staff)

Cons: Sitting on the floor (personal preference)

Best fake meat ive ever tried

Creamy, juicy, it almost melts in your mouth at the same time of having a perfect biting texture
They make a fake meat out of the left overs of the soy used for soy milk, and a special root (konjac?)
If any meat eater tried this i doubt they wuld choose meat again

Pros: "beef" and rice, Appetisers of "okara?"

Best vegan food in Japan period

After 6 months of road trip through Japan, we found our champions.
The soy meat is just out of this world, cooked to perfection with nice balanced dishes.
We came with no reservations and they kindly get us in no problem.
The Japanese setup and the food authenticity makes this place so special. Also not too pricey compared to other restaurants in the area.
Just go there

Lovely food and setting

Grains is a small place (a couple sit-down tables), thus the reservation requirement. But you can do this online and it’s very easy.

My friends and I had sets, which included several smaller plates of pickled veggies, soup, and delicious karaage. Everything tasted great and the setting was quiet and cozy.

Authentic Japanese style food

Japanese style vegan food has been hard to find but Miho's kitchen Grains was really amazing. The actual location is a tiny bit tricky to find, with the entrance off the street.
They use okara (soy pulp) to make in-house "meats" which they cook in a variety of delicious ways.
Dinner is a set menu with 2 entrees, main and dessert for ¥3300 (a bit pricey) but they do take out for cheaper.
We had the Miso-katsu 味噌カツ and Miracle gyu-don ミラクル牛丼
100% recommend and go back to try different menu items.

So kind so good!

Loved the food. For dinner a set menu was the only options. A choise from different mains and desserts combined with a starter and a salad. Meat replacement is homemade. Must visit when in Nagoya.

Nice spot

Fully vegan, great for Nagoya! Plenty of options on the menu, lunch and dinner menus separate. Opening times and days are limited so check that first. I had their “a lavish meal” and it was lovely set meal.

Just WOW!

The food is super unique in a good way, words can't describe how good the food was. The best vegan place we've been at Japan so far by a mile.

I truly recommend this place :)

Note: No reservation is needed!

Amazing, best mock meat I’ve had in a while

I got the “beef” (I don’t actually remember what it was listed as, option #1) and it was so well seasoned and cooked, without actually tasting like it was meat. My sister got the chicken which was also good. Lovely vibes and the portion was a good size too.

Note that signage calls this place “Miho’s Kitchen Grains” not just “Grains”

Traditional Japanese Food

Such a cute spot. I wanted to like the food but the flavours and textures were a bit too Japanese tasting for me. Great for an adventurous foodie. But the atmosphere and desert were lovely.

Great vegan spot near Nagoya station

Ordered takeout: curry, teriyaki, that chicken nugget looking dish, and some cookies.
All dishes tasted good for the price they charge, the curry was light on salt, but not too light to be bland. Chicken nugget and teriyaki used the same soy chunk which was a let down. The cookie was great.

Btw, keep your shoes away from the shelf for cookies. (see my 3 line haiku below)

Pros: Good taste, Fair price

Cons: Cookies glass jar, dropped by the waitress, A glass shard pierced my foot

Fantastic food

Wife and i on honeymoon, and in Nagoya for ghibli Park. Came here, and it was the best food we've had after 2 weeks in japan. The starter of the evening set menu was particularly phenomenal.

Vegan

Pros: 素食牛丼, 拉麵, 前菜

Delicious okacon meal

I ordered their okacon (which includes a bbq dish made of okara and konyaku) set meal. The bbq dish was so good, it felt like it melts in your mouth. I also like the sashimi made of nata de coco. And I like that it includes a dessert of your choice (I highly recommend the gennmaidango). Everything in the meal was really delicious. And the service was also good (the chef is vegan :)). And the place was so nice and cozy. It was a great experience.

The BEST vegan meat I’ve ever had.

I came here for lunch and had the set with the Okacon Kabayaki - a vegan ‘eel’ made from Konnyak. I’m not usually a fan of faux meats but this blew my mind. It was by far the best texture I’ve ever experienced in a a faux meat and was immediately sending photos telling my other vegan friends about it.

Yummy vegan deliciousness

This is a neat little place that you wouldn’t expect to find behind these walls. Very friendly service, passionate owner and chef, and good food. Be aware that it’s Japanese seating style where you sit on the floor. That’s not for everyone. Recommend to have the matcha soy latte iced.

Lovely place

One of the best meals I've had in Japan, rich flavors and interesting textures. There's only one person taking the orders, cooking and serving the food so service can be slow if it gets too crowded. It can be a little pricey compared to other options in Japan at 3,300 yen for the multi course dinner but it's absolutely worth it.

Good cozy place

The meal sets have good portions. The burger was good, and the desserts were even better. The environment is cozy, you sit on the floor so there are cushions instead of regular chairs.

Pros: Friendly staff, Good portions, Good desserts
