Vegan Sushi for the win! - Edit
First and foremost, the owner is very sweet! My partner and I visited Gorilla Eats when we were visiting San Diego from out-of-state. At the time, I was a very new vegan and was complaining about missing sushi… we found Gorilla Eats and it made me realize that vegan sushi legitimately can taste like fish without consuming fish. We ordered so so much sushi and then we had a massive food coma. it was incredible. When we left San Diego, the owner called me to inform me that they were finally going to have a physical location! Great, because their current location can be a bit confusing, it’s basically a ghost kitchen. Highly recommend this place!

Love it! - Edit
Love it! Crunchy Roll, Caterpillar Roll, Umami Roll, and Eureka Roll are all excellent.
Read moreNote that it is in the Aztec Food Hub which plans a total of twenty restaurants with takeout and pickup only. Sadly this is the only vegan choice in the current plan.
You really must try it.

Wonderful! Umami roll was the best sushi I’ve ever had with tofu!

I don’t understand how anyone can rate this less than 5* vegan or not. When first going vegan, my girlfriend and I were sad to have to give up one of our favorite foods, sushi (though obviously worth the sacrifice for the animals). We tried some vegan sushi before (some from Whole Foods especially) - they were ok but just not the same. In comes Gorilla Eats Sushi. I kid you not this stuff is better than some real gourmet sushi we used to eat. It’s so good, in fact, and the texture and appearance so on point, that we often fear we are eating real fish lol. Please show this place to anyone who doubts that vegan sushi can be just as good if not better than the real thing!

Amazing - Edit
I was so disappointed that a certain vegan sushi place in Mission Beach is NoW serving fish.. so to find this place-WOW! I had the Kona Roll and the Umami roll. Both were so fresh and delicious but that slight tang of lemon really made the Kona the stand out. You pick up your rolls at the Aztec Food Hub. There are a few seats outside to eat but this is a primarily a pick-up and go venture. Some of the best vegan sushi I have ever had!

Great selection. All the rolls we tried had super good flavor. You can order through an app or walk up to the food hub and order at their kiosk.

We really enjoyed grabbing lunch at Gorilla Eats Sushi. We enjoyed the Spicy “Tuna” and Cali Rolls. The cold green tea is nice, too.

Mediocre sushi - Edit
The umami roll was really good, but the rest of the rolls were nothing amazing.
Read moreWe got the crunchy, the Umami, the eureka and the 1985.
The crunchy roll was not particularly crunchy
The 1985 roll was poorly constructed and the faux shrimp was rubbery and the whole roll fell apart.
The eureka was supposed to be tempura fried and it was soggy.
The umami was really good, but would not go back for just one roll.
It was expensive and tasted like cheap sushi.
