One of the best Restaurants in SLC

I heard there was a new place opening up with a lot of vegan options, and I went to check it out today. I had high expectations looking at the menu, and I was still blown away. While the portion sizes were a bit on the smaller side, the food was phenomenal, the prices were pretty reasonable, and the restaurant itself looked really nice.

About 1/3 of the menu is vegan, and about 1/2 of the non-vegan items can be made vegan (with proper substitutions, not just leaving out the non-vegan ingredients). They originally had a $0.50 upcharge to make a non-vegan item vegan, but after my friend wrote them (upset) about this upcharge, they explained their original rationale for it and quickly did away with the charge. I ordered a vegan dish off their menu and a non-vegan dish that I asked to be prepared vegan, and there was no difference in the quality of the two dishes.

Their craft sodas were also delicious--I got a marionberry soda and it was one of the best sodas I've ever had, and cheaper than I would've expected for something like it ($5 for 20 oz). I'd highly recommend them (and honestly everything else I got was amazing too). Definitely check out this place if you have the opportunity.

Pros: Excellent food, Queer friendly, Great service

Cons: Somewhat small portions

Great vegan dining experience from a veg-options restaurant

I ate here for lunch and had a fantastic dining experience.

My girlfriend and I are both vegans and we shared the Hail Seitan sandwich (vegan by default) and the Corrido de Cortez (made vegan with substitutions). The food was high quality and delicious, with plenty of variety. And the portion sizes were just right for the two of us, plenty of food without having to take home a lot of leftovers. I hadn't realized how much I was craving vegan southwestern style food before eating here.

There were also lots of vegan options on the menu, and all of them were very clearly labelled, which really cut down on the usual guesswork and "twenty questions" of eating out. Based on an email that a friend sent to the restaurant, I feel that the restaurant owner definitely put a lot of thought into substitutions for every menu item possible. You don't really have to put in the work to customize your own plate here. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant for eating with vegans and non-vegans in one group, especially if you have any difficult non-vegan family members.

Finally, the service was quite fast (though we did go when the restaurant wasn't too busy) and the atmosphere inside the building was very comfortable. The decor was nice and there wasn't any overly loud music or other noise. Great spot to actually have a conversation. Also, the restaurant has great theming with it's menu items and aesthetic, something that I'm sure will get better once they have more of a budget to play with.

Pros: Great tasty food, Clearly labelled menu, Quiet atmosphere

Cons: Only one sweet vegan breakfast option
