Unique hidden gem on the map of Tokyo - Edit
We had an amazing experience with Fujifuku.
Read moreThe owner was incredible and very open to explaining the dishes to us as foreigners. Despite the potential language barrier, we felt incredibly welcomed and guided through the meal.
The food was delicious, comforting, and homey. The menu is on the pricier side compared to other options, but I considered it more of an experience of Japanese fine dining with a brilliant vegan twist rather than a "just eat to feel full" kind of place (though for some it may be a lot, biggest course is 6-7 dishes). For anyone looking for high-quality plant-based options in Japan, this is a hidden gem.
Please note that the owner runs this place entirely on her own. Before you book, you need to consider that you might wait a bit, as she prepares, serves, and manages everything by herself. Only 10 courses a day are prepared – so if you really want to experience it, please just make a reservation instead of complaining later! It is worth every minute and every yen.
Pros: Traditional Japanese cuisine made vegan, Amazing owner, Great, cozy atmosphere
Cons: Note that there's limited courses per day!!!, Reservation may be required, easily done by Insta

What a delicious and lovely experience - Edit
Me and my friend were two of the 10 lucky ones who got a spot at this absolutely lovely spot! The owner is an incredibly friendly women who will cook all courses from scratch with seasonal and regional ingredients. Never have I tried tofu in such a great variety in one dinner. From tofu skin to tofu steak and pudding. Absolutely delicious and also very creative and versatile in flavour. Was my last evening after one month traveling through Japan and definitely one of my culinary highlights 👏🏼

Little treat 💚 - Edit
What a gorgeous, little place run by a one woman show and her doggo Millfy 💚 Truly beautiful food, made with love and care with such attention to detail, looked like fine dining. Was solo so had the first option. Bit pricey but considering all that goes into it, I considered it a treat.. plus the money will go towards her doggos care. Please give this place a try… it’s amazing.

Just perfect!! The very finest of home cooking - Edit
This is a great find. Located in a small restaurant Asakusa, it is a small concern and delivers to the very highest of standards and expectations. There are three variations on the set meal but the smallest is far from small and was an absolute treat. Lots of tasty courses, carefully prepared and elegantly presented. It’s a great insight into the very finest aspects of Japanese cuisine.

Keiko deserves ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ memorable Japanese home cooking experience - Edit
It’s unfortunate that Fujifuku has been around for 7 years now, and because they previously weren’t vegan, their stars were restricted on HappyCow. I assure you though, this place deserves ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Read moreMade a reservation for 2 at 6:30 by phone (email — fujifuku.k@gmail.com — also available for international guests). We were warmly welcomed by Keiko, the owner, along with Millfy, the adorable chihuahua.
The restaurant offers a few set menus at very reasonable prices—we chose the Fujifuku set, which includes a progression of small seasonal dishes, yuba sashimi, tofu teriyaki steak, seasonal rice, and matcha.
The experience felt intimate and like private fine dining, with Keiko thoughtfully explaining each dish as it was served.
The small plates were a highlight: a strawberry salad with tofu sesame sauce (beautiful sweet-savory balance), lotus root and maitake mushrooms with a flavorful marinade, and broccolini with sweet miso that really stood out despite its simplicity. Seasonal touches like daikon in sakura broth and sakura rice made the meal feel especially memorable.
The yuba sashimi was delicate and unique, with a clean, balanced flavor. The tofu teriyaki steak was a standout— well-seasoned, with a crisp exterior and soft interior, and paired perfectly with the rice and miso soup.
One of the most impressive dishes was a vegan sukiyaki—the seitan was prepared to resemble sliced beef or pork belly, with distinct layers and a slight chew, and it absorbed the broth beautifully. It was rich, comforting, and incredibly well executed.
We finished with house-made amazake and lightly sweetened matcha, both excellent. Keiko also brought out some fruit at the end as a thank you for making a reservation in advance, which was a thoughtful gesture.
What really makes this place special is the care behind each dish—it’s clear Keiko is deeply passionate, and that comes through in both the food and the experience.
English is limited but manageable, and with a bit of patience the experience is absolutely worth it.
Highly recommend for a seasonal, home-style meal that feels both refined and heartfelt.
(Note for vegans - the tamagoyaki does actually use egg, so that is the only non-vegan dish on the menu. But Keiko was very clear about this, and I would recommend the Yuba sashimi anyways!)

Authentic Japanese Treasure - Edit
Incredibly small restaurant run by one person but run beautifully! Two tables and a few counter seats. In Japan, this is not terribly unusual. Three set menus and drinks, including alcoholic. You don't go to this restaurant because you are hungry. You go because you want to sample true, carefully prepared, artistic and thoughtful Japanese cuisine. You go to unwind as the owner prepares your dishes from scratch by herself and serves them by herself. These observations are not negative. If you go with the right mindset and not to "grab a quick bite," you'll find yourself marvelously rewarded. The owner is lovely and pleased to interact, albeit in Japanese. This is a true winner.

There are 3 menus available, only differing in amount of items. They cost 3000-4000 yen each. All menus are vegetarian. Our menu happened to be mostly vegan, though there was some mayo on the tofu and one appetizer bite with cheese on top. You can probably ask the owner to cook fully vegan.

The most welcoming and friendly home away from home - Edit
We just had the absolute best meal we have had in Tokyo.
Read moreI wish I photographed the front door signage, handwritten something to the effect of "vegetarian vegan food lovingly prepared by a mother".
We randomly searched up on Happy Cow Vegan Options and up popped Fuji Fuku.
We walked about a kilometre in the current humidity.
Not sure why I can't rate Fuji Fuku 5 stars as this place is all veg and vegan, no meat is served.
Even when I walked through the door Keiko said to me vegetarian, vegan and that is exactly what we received.
A warm, welcome, a couple of drinks and a set menu, literally handwritten by Keiko.
She offers both a vegan and vegetarian (egg, dairy) version of the menu.
I'd rate this place 5 stars if able to do so. I'm headed to google next to rate Keiko 5 stars because stumbling across Fuji Fuku is the best way to end our night.
Pros: Millfi (the as of right now 8yo doggo)., Keiko herself was the perfect host, The food. Many courses for a small cost
Cons: There are no cons.

Would highly recommend - Edit
I had a vegan set meal, my mum had a vegetarian meal (which included eggs). Very small restaurant, lovely atmosphere, owner is friendly (and makes all the food), good amount of food overall, was a perfect start to our time in Tokyo after a long flight. My favourite dish was some grilled tofu but everything was tasty. They had an English language menu where it was easy to see the vegan options.

I would easily give this place 5 stars! - Edit
This place is so underrated on happy cow. I'm not quite sure why it's not listed as vegetarian because the menu was completely vegetarian from what I saw. Check out the Google reviews to get a better sense of it. I never leave reviews but this place was amazing! Such a perfect start to our trip. The woman who runs it is so lovely and accommodating even though we didn't speak any Japanese. The set menu was all vegetarian which was so appreciated, but what's more important is that the food was incredible. My wife and I both loved it. The cafe has such a quaint vibe, it's calm, intimate and quirky all at the same time. I couldn't recommend it highly enough.
