Seriously the best tofu scramble I’ve ever had; just the right amount of spice. Hardest part was walking past all the delicious donuts,scones and baked goods to order breakfast first. We got some sweet treats to go. The staff were super friendly and accommodating. They made special pancakes for the 2 yr old we were traveling with. I would eat there every day if I could. Will definitely go back next time we are in Victoria.

Fern has never disappointed with their baked goods. The cinnamon buns are a must try. They added doughnuts over the past couple years which have always been very good when I've tried them. The scones are another personal favourite. I have ordered a few items off the kitchen menu over the years and been pleasantly surprised but honestly I'm often going for the baked goods.
Read moreParking around the back is convenient when available, otherwise parking in the area is a pain to find. Location is small with a few tables inside that can fill quickly during busy hours. Staff is always pleasant.
If you follow their social media they sometimes post BOGO near the end of the day if they have treats leftover.

I would go back to Victoria just to visit this place. Everything we had was amazingly delicious; pancakes, pesto roll, tofu scramble, cookies and a scone! What a great place! I highly recommend it.

What a nice assortment of pastries. Also the menu is super, I had the buttermilk pancakes which would've been sufficient for two persons so I took the 2nd pancake with me 😄 Pesto bun one of the best vegan salty breaditems I ever had.

We tried the buttermilk pancakes and pancakes with fried chickun. The portions were large and we were all well stuffed after! They were delicious, fluffy and giant. The classic buttermilk pancakes came with a yummy compote and icing in addition to maple syrup. The chickn pancakes came with a great spiced maple syrup and the chickn was lovely and crispy! The staff were super friendly and welcoming too!

We visited Fern Cafe in the morning to get some delicious vegan breakfast. The pancakes were great and the portion sizes are huge. We also took some cinnamon buns home to enjoy later. Staff was super friendly and the café itself has a nice atmosphere.

We got the chicken buffalo burger and chicken honey mustard burger, both with the Cesar salad. The salads were great! The burgers were good, but a little hard to eat. I think the chicken was too thick and a little too gummy maybe. Would love to try something else there.

The chicken and pancakes were delicious. The chicken had a tiny kick to it which I really appreciated. The pancakes were nice and fluffy.
The cinnamon rolls were also soooooo good! Huge size and love that they warm it up for you. Possibly the best I’ve ever had! Definitely don’t skip this place 🙂

Update January 2025: Whenever I'm in the neighbourhood, I stop by for takeaway treats. This time were a scrumptious biscoff cookie-sammie, a berry crumble and a PB&J cookie. Delicious!
Read moreOlder review: I really enjoyed the cheeeese burger today, and I brought away a big filled doughnut, the pizza swirl and a cinnamon bun. I've had the good, sweet, chocolate-and-raspberry, cream-filled doughnut and am sure I will enjoy the other two items tomorrow. The café was doing a brisk business at 1:30 pm on a Friday. In later years, I've enjoyed breakfast and other comfort-food meals at Fern.
Coffees, teas, plant milks and WiFi available too.

One of my favorite cafes/bakeries of all time — honestly the fried chicken caesar salad alone is worth a trip to Victoria. And their treats! So incredible. I love their cinnamon rolls, and I've also enjoyed their brownies and fruit bars.

The BEST Vegan Cafe and Bakery! - Edit
When visiting Victoria for a 5 day stay we visited Fern’s twice because it was just so good! We tried the breakfast sandwich, buffalo chicken burger, and the Big Mac daddy burger off the menu and had several of the pastries and cookie! Everything was 10/10!!!! This is a must visit place if you are in Victoria and the cinnamon buns are not to be missed!!!
