Read moreThe restaurant is extremely easy to find, right on the main street of the town. It is 100 percent vegan and offers a wide variety of options, including salads, bowls, sandwiches, several other dishes, and even vegan desserts. Having multiple vegan dessert options is still rare, especially outside fully vegan restaurants, so this was a big plus.
The food is excellent. Portions are generous, flavors are outstanding, and the prices are extremely fair, I would even say inexpensive considering the quality and quantity served.
My partner and I are both vegan, and we ended up making Estrella Negra our main lunch spot throughout our entire week in San Pedro.
To be completely honest, the only minor downside was the dessert called “Snickers”, which does not resemble the chocolate at all and caused a bit of disappointment. That said, it was still good and did not take away from the overall experience.
Highly recommended, especially for vegans visiting the area.

El restaurante es muy fácil de encontrar, ubicado en la calle principal del pueblo. Es 100 por ciento vegano y ofrece una gran variedad de opciones, como ensaladas, bowls, sándwiches, varios otros platos y también postres veganos. Contar con varias opciones de postres veganos sigue siendo poco común, incluso en restaurantes no veganos, por lo que fue un gran punto a favor.
Los platos son excelentes. Las porciones son abundantes, el sabor es espectacular y los precios son muy justos, incluso diría bajos considerando la calidad y cantidad que se sirve.
Mi pareja y yo somos veganos y terminamos eligiendo Estrella Negra como nuestra opción principal para almorzar durante toda nuestra semana en San Pedro.
Para ser totalmente honestos, el único detalle negativo fue el postre llamado “Snickers”, que no se parece en nada al chocolate original y generó un poco de frustración. Aun así, estaba rico y no opacó la experiencia general.
Muy recomendable, especialmente para personas veganas que visitan la zona.

Loved that this was available but we found it hit and miss, and I’m a pretty generous reviewer. For sure the Being empanada with corn and mushrooms was a hit, but the rest was just OK. The staff was very friendly and helpful which was a plus.

Cosy fully vegan restaurant. Had the vegan sausage empanadas (it's massive), tofu bowl, beetroot juice and snickers bar. All were amazing. Great place to meet fellow vegan travellers.

The entire menu is vegan and it all sounds incredible - they have bowls, mains, empanadas (which are huge) and more. We had the ceviche, the tofu bowl and the seitan empanadas. They share an entrance with another restaurant so look out for it. Best meal!

I really enjoyed this gem for vegans in San Pedro. I went there twice, and loved their veggie bowls, which are both healthy and filling. The mix of cold and warm ingredients made the meal so much more interesting.

I read somewhere that people had previously bought cocktails from the other side of the restaurant (which is an omni restaurant and bar) and consumed them here on the “vegan side”, but when I asked the staff member on the other side he said this wasn’t possible. So that would be the only tiny negative, you’re not able to wash down the tasty dinner here with a pisco sour or two 😅
Note the signage for Estrella Negra is kind of easy to miss, the restaurant it shares with is called Aura Andina.
Pros: 100% vegan, tasty, good value in expensive touristy San Pedro

Amazing vegan oasis in the middle of the Atacama desert - Edit
We ate here 3 times during our stay (2 times take away). In total we ate 5 different main dishes, all of them were plenty in size and very tasty.

The only slightly negative thing is, that it is a little bit chilly in winter in the restaurant itself. Takeout and eat in the sun could be an alternative, but then you will miss the vibe and nice music (every time out of our 3 visits total different music genre, and we enjoyed all of them)
My favorite dishes were: unidad, seitan mongoiano, seitan estrella!
Info: they have a totally separated kitchen from the omnivore restaurant (vegan right and omnivore restaurant left side)

Durante mi breve estadía en San Pedro de Atacama he pasado cuatro veces a comer en este restaurante. El local es casero y sencillo y sirve una para mí sorprendente gran variedad de opciones. Con mi compañero de viaje, hemos probado el menú entero prácticamente, sin sentirnos decepcionados ninguna vez. La señora que atiende es un amor y el joven en la cocina hace maravillas. Ir allá, cada vez nos hacía ilusión, como la perfecta culminación de otro fabuloso día en Atacama.

I came here nearly every day during my stay in San Pedro. The empanadas (and the portions in general) are HUGE so in the end we had to take the dessert that we had already ordered (delicious vegan crepes!!) as a takeaway. Relatively cheap for Atacama. Service just a little slow and unfortunately without a terrace but so worth going!! Ps. As somebody earlier had doubts: the kitchen is clearly separated from the non-vegan restaurant in the same place.

We had the tofu sandwich and the seitan sandwich, both had way too much cheese on, and the fries were a bit oily and soggy. The seitan was good, and had a chewy, pork texture. Decent value for money and might go back to try the empanadas, but I wouldn’t recommend the sandwiches.
