We came in the early evening and tried the tarte flambée with pretzel dough, which was amazing! The iced blueberry matcha was also very good and refreshing. The cakes in the counter looked good as well. Everything they offer is home made, service was very friendly. Must visit in Bonn at any time of the day.

Unfortunately there was only a brunch menu available around 1pm on Saturday so I ordered pancakes with mushroom and tofu. I had imagined a savory pancake whose dough would include some mushroom but all came severally. The tofu that looked like scrambled eggs was quite an original idea though a bit salty. Mushrooms were alright. The pancake itself was rather a bit sweet which didn't match with the rest of the meal. Furthermore it was very "doughy" and not crispy at all.

Cool place with calm atmosphere. You can get here coffee and cakes, but also breakfast, but also lunch and dinner. Take a look at website for more information, cause special dinner/lunch time mostly for weekends and not at every time is a reservation possible.

We ordered a lemon-poppyseed cake and a mocha-hazelnut cake. Both were delicious. The lemon cake was so soft and juicy, it was my favourite today!
We also ordered a mocha and the special offer lemonade (pear-grapefruit) which was sour and not sweet at all what i really liked. Sadly the grapefruit is very dominant in taste. For the drinks you have a great choice of different milks.
Staff was friendly and professional, was a lovely time to be here.
From the main station easy to reach with bus if you take one to the botanical garden.

For lunch, it is a quick self-service/take-out place. I really really liked the food and the fact that this place is entirely vegan.

Edit: I have also been there in the evening. There is Flammkuchen, teo salad bowls and small finger food. Flammkuchen might leave you a bit hungry. But we also enjoyed the drinks and hot beverages and spent a really nice evening. 😊
I guess the next thing is to try the breakfast options! (And cake!)

Ich war hier mit ein paar Freunden zum Kuchen essen verabredet, sowohl der Zitronen-Mohn, als auch der Zitronen blaubeer-Kuchen war echt super, wer aber wirklich die Show gestohlen hat war eindeutig der carrot cake, mit Abstand der beste Vegane den ich je hatte ! Auch die Getränke waren super, die Zitronenlimo war schön erfrischend wenn auch etwas Basic, aber die Lavendel Zitronen limo hat dafür um so mehr überzeugt. Am besten fanden wir alle aber den Dirty chai Latte mit hafermilch, der hat uns echt umgehauen im besten Sinn:) Preise sind fair und man kann sowohl drinnen als auch draußen schön sitzen, overall eine absolute Herzens-Empfehlung!!

Den Service möchte ich besonders hervorheben. Der junge Mann war sooo nett. Wir haben uns wirklich sehr umsorgt gefühlt. Auch sonst waren alle nett. Wirklich herausragend. Es gibt auf der Brunch-Karte alle möglichen Frühstücksklassiker, inkl. Bacon, Spiegelei (sehr cool!), Lachs, French Toast, usw. Tolle Auswahl und alles sehr lecker und hübsch angerichtet.

Fully vegan restaurant! - Edit
Esskalation is one of the few fully vegan restaurants in Bonn. So far we have only been there for brunch which they offer on weekends and public holidays. There are a lot of diverse options. We’ve tried several of the pancakes and the French Toast so far and loved these! But we were slightly disappointed by the big, savoury platters. The Full English platter was honestly a bit tasteless and the Mezze platter is delicious but the price of 18,90€ is just too much for what you get. We would also love if there were some more savoury options that you can order as a side, e.g. bread with margarine and “cheese/ham” if you are still hungry and crave something salty after a sweet breakfast.

They all had their own unique flavour, texture, and looks, which was very pleasing. We would definitely come back here when the kitchen is open, to test the rest of the menu

Ich bin zwar ständig in Bonn und auch ständig in Poppelsdorf, bin aber bisher immer nur an Esskalation vorbei gelaufen. Jetzt war ich mit einer Freundin drinnen und wir hatten Kaffee, einen Kakao und einen leckeren Cheesecake Brownie. Generell hatten sie eine tolle Auswahl an Kuchen. Es werden auch warme Gerichte angeboten. Zu dem ist es echt schön eingerichtet und man fühlt sich wohl. Ich werde auf jeden Fall wieder kommen.
