Gorgeous food, heavenly starter - Edit
We made a reservation on the same day and went here for dinner. Honestly I'm still confused about the cheese being vegan here, but staff told us everything is vegan. We had the starter plate which was a heaven of vegan nuggets, breaded avocado slices, mushrooms and onion rings. When we reclaimed a sauce that we didn't order, our waiter immediately brought us a third one, top notch service I have to remark. My partner ordered a burrito, I had the pulled jackfruit arepas in hope of it being not too big of a portion, but I was super full afterwards and super amazed by the food as well. Probably my favourite restaurant in Kiel so far.

Die gemischten Vorspeisen waren klasse mit leckeren Dips. Wir hatten alles vegan. Das regionale Czernys Bier ist darüber hinaus „Kein Bier für Nazis“! Sehr sympatisch.

Alles rundum gut, Freundliche Bedienung und lecker. Hab mich aber sehr auf tacos gefreut, extra vorher angerufen, dass wir erst um 14 Uhr kommen und trotzdem gab es dann nur ein Mittagsgericht (Auflauf). Bissl schade.

Great food, great sitting area - Edit
One of the best vegan tex-mex restaurants I have been to - good was delicious and there were soooo many options. Pretty much everything can be made vegan and most options already are vegan.
Read moreWe arrived before the opening time but were already allowed to sit down and the service was very friendly, checking in on us. We sat outside - there is a nice area for the tables right on front of the restaurant and enough space. I also noticed that they were very accommodating to people wanting to sit outside even with all the tables full - great place!
Prices are great as well. Paid 25€ for the burrito, ice tea, a cocktail and dessert.

Great Mexican food in Kiel, had the Mushroom Tacos that they made as vegan rather than veg. These were great (as were staff). Good food, sorry I couldn’t finish it all, coming back for the Black Bean Tacos next time.

Das El Sombrero Verde bietet einen wöchentlich wechselnden Mittagstisch an mit frisch zubereiteten Speisen. Die Gerichte werden liebevoll zusammengestellt und optisch ansprechend hergerichtet. Man kann hier auch gut Cocktails trinken.

Read moreWe were really looking forward to the treat of vegan tex-mex food, as our lunch whilst exploring Kiel. When we got the menu, we were advised that the "Mittagstisch" (set lunch dish) would be quick, but that everything else on the menu would need 30+ minutes. As we were really hungry and a bit late in our schedule, we opted for what was suggested to us. This was fine although nothing special. The seitan steak was lukewarm, everything else (various salads plus chili sin carne) were cold. All tasty, but we got the feeling that a lot of it was probably left over from the previous day's Vegan "grill fest". We would have preferred the seitan steak to be hotter, and the chili sin carne would have been tasty warm, too. The mocktails (we had a Red Lion( cherry juice with coconut cream) and an Acapulco (various tropical juices)) were good.
The venue is not particularly remarkable, but then as long as the food is fine, who cares about a simple interior? Value for money (portions) was good. Service was friendly and prompt. Sadly, we won't be able to come back to Kiel anytime soon, but based on our experience, it might be better to come here for dinner, and when the kitchen is on full steam, so you get the full menu choice. Or otherwise, come 30 minutes before you want to eat.

Needed something gluten-free and soy-free, the staff asked if I would trust them to make something for me that would work and they did. I had some nice tacos filled with quinoa, black beans, avocado, tomatoes and lettuce. They also had pineapple in them which was a little odd in my opinion but easily removed. The beans were really tasty. I would certainly fine here again when in Kiel.

Ein Stern Abzug für den kahlen Gastraum mit hohem Geräuschpegel und die harten Stühle.

We tried El Sombrero Verde last week. It was late and we were craving Mexican food :) The service was great, they have a wonderful menu that made it hard to choose. We settled on the Burrito Mexicano w/guac & sweet potato fries on the side. I loved their guacamole. Will definitely visit again.
