Pleasant suprise

Nice and popular restaurant hidden away from the main tourist streets. We had lovely dishes. There could be a bit more variety on the menu but definitely worth checking out.

Lovely place

Clearly marked allergens and loads of vegan options. Had the nachos with avo and hummus, spring roll & tofu burger. With starters, mains and drinks was only about £20 for 2 of us!

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Cheap

Nice place

I tried the tofu burger in the vegan option (without cheese) nachos con humus and avocado. A little bit heavy for me and not enough healthy (too much creamy). Not every day ! Anyway there is many other choice. Végétarian dishes can be veganized.

Delicioso vegetariano!!!

Me encanta!!!

Pros: Comida de calidad y deliciosa

Cons: No es 100% vegano

Appalling and disappointing

Stingy, rude, ridiculous wait times (for a simple sandwich). We wanted to make a vegetarian sandwich vegan, but upon asking to swap the cheese and eggs for mushrooms (I.e. Veganise) we were told by a rude and aloof waiter that it would incur a charge of 3 euros (almost double the price of the sandwich!). This place is very unaccommodating to vegans. Don’t waste your time coming here!

Malaika is a 10 minute walk away, go there! Or if you can venture to the south of the island, go to Zeneize - incredible cheap vegan pizzas!

Pros: None, None, None

Cons: Everything , Everything , Everything

low prices but bad meals

We had been searching for open veg restaurant in the centre of Puerto, so we visited El Limón . We offered nachos with hummus and guacamole, hamburger with "everythind" and spring rolls.
Nachos: good crips, hummus was also good but nothing special and I hope that guacamole was vegan because it tasted like avocado with white yogurt :( ..
Hamburger: It had my boyfriend vegetarian... not good... basic bun with weird mayonaisse, ananas, vegetarian meet and egg ... he had a heavy stomach after...
Spring roolls... it was just one piece and it was full of oil (it was fried) and there was a strange cabbage inside... I could not eat it :(

Pros: stylish interior, prices

Cons: hamburger, spring rolls, nachos

Muy bueno

Tienen bastantes opciones veganas.

Pros: Bocadillos, Sitio, Personal

Cons: Que no sea 100% vegana, ., .

Vegetarian

A good vegetarian restaurant in Puerto de la Cruz, convenient location in one the pedestrian streets. Pleasant "Old Cafe" style decoration which blends perfectly in the city. Reading the other reviews I do not have any complaints with the staff which was friendly and overall the food good. What I personally find could improve a lot are the availability of vegan options, for being a vegetarian restaurant the vegan options are limited and the menu relies heavily on dairy. Compared to other vegetarian places which usually offer dairy more to fulfill the demand for this products from their clients, here I see it promoted even with objects and signs in the decoration as if milk derivates are something positive. I hope the owners are genuinely not aware of how harmful the dairy industry is and will take time to look into it, hopefully reducing it in the future.

Cons: limited vegan options, Promotes dairy

3 visits 2 good 1 bad!

Went here 3 times. 2 times we were really happy with the service, the food and drinks. The food is fast food style but really tasty. The location is nice and central. BUT! The 3rd time was probably our last. The menu depicts all allergens and we picked a tofu burger. To our surprise we received a burger with goat cheese. We wanted something vegan... We did not so much ask for a vegan burger but there was no cheese in the description and no symbol for lactose/milk. The worst part is when we told the waitress this was not what we ordered (patty did not look like tofu) she tried to convince us it was depicted as the soy symbol... Trying to tell me I can't read a menu is really insulting and at that point we should have left. Because of our good experiences before we waited for our burger without cheese. I know mistakes happen... but if I would have served a burger with cheese to a vegan I would have apologized a 100 times since this is the equivalent of serving meat to a vegetarian.

Pros: Location, Atmosphere , Staff is fast

Cons: Not clear what is vegan, Only go here if you eat vegetarian. , Staff not able to handle complaints

Cheap, creative and tasty

Located in the city center, cheap place especially the lunch menu. Very tasty and healthy meals. Lots of vegan and gluten free options. Staff is very friendly and nice. You can really find many options on the menu, so I'm not going to specify, but if you can go by at lunch time

Pros: Healthy, Many vegan options

good food for low prices in a not too touristic little restaurant

It is not easy to find a nice and authentic restaurant in the very touristic town of Puerto de la cruz. The El Limon is one of that kind. When we were there around 75 % of the guests were Spanish - from families to business people. The atmosphere was nice and easy, the stuff were very friendly and the food was good and definitely not expensive!

Good food, poor service

Yesterday we ate at El limon. The address on happy cow is incorrect, but we found it anyway.
The waitress was kinda rude, maybe because we are tourist? I don't know..

I can recommend El Limon based on the food and price!

Pros: Food, Price , Location

Cons: Service

staff friendly, food warmed up

Some vegan options. The roasted vegetables were rather warmed up. Taste could have been better.
Not so easy to find, even with help from Happy Cow and Here.

Pros: vegan options, nice place

Cons: not always freshly made

Big dishes and great menu

I have been there now like two times, great place with a lot of costumers in the evenings. :)

I ate burger, salad, soup (that was not the best option), smoothie and drank some beer, smoothie was greatt, burger simple and salad too. But the variety is great!

I wont recommend papas con mojos, cause these sauces are not that nice here than most of places - too oil´i and not so nice saucy :D

Service is nice, the girl is really working hard, also she works alone for like 12-15 tables, that is crazy! But she is nice and welcoming :D

PS: Say if you are vegan and need to have everything vegan, they will help you nicely :D

Thank you soo much :)

Pros: big dishes

Cons: sometimes taste is too simple, burgers are simple

disappointing

We decided to go as we were staying just around the corner.
The waitress was helpful when I mentioned that I was vegan.
We all ordered smoothies which were delicious. We also ordered nachos with guacamole and hummus, quesadillas, chips and vegan burgers.
The chips had vegan mayonnaise which was nice... But the burgers also had the same mayonnaise. And the guacamole also seemed to have the same mayonnaise... It was just a bit too much mayonnaise!!!
My son was really hungry and usually eats everything!!! However he hated the burger and couldn't eat it.... It was not good,
It was so disappointing because the restaurant is so very quaint and is situated in the heart of El Puerto.
I hope they can sort out the menu because it has so much potential to be amazing.

Pros: understanding staff, great smoothies

Cons: too much mayonnaise , need to serve ketchup with the chips and burgers

Cozy with wifi

Difficult to find out what is vegan (even if you know Spanish), but there are at least some vegan options on the menu. As is commonplace on the Canary Islands, the staff don't understand English very well. There are sockets by some tables for battery charging and the wifi works well for basic stuff. Discrete background music on low volume.

Pros: Good place for working

Cons: Could be more vegan stuff on the menu

Cosy place

Smoothies were very delicious, thou foods that we tried were average. Small choice for vegans- since many dishes include dairy or eggs. Waiters were very friendly.

All dishes were marked for gluten, soy etc.

Cons: Not many vegan options
