Outstanding food - Edit
Incredible vegan taqueria! Instead of hitting the road early for our 6 hour drive back home, we stayed later at our Airbnb just to try this highly recommended place when they opened at 11am. WORTH IT! My husband has been craving birria since we went vegan earlier this year, and the quesabirria burrito was outstanding. I got the chile relleno plate which was also fantastic. Got the corn tortillas that come with it, they're made fresh in house and SO good! And both dishes were a lot of food. Very filling. We're gonna plan another Sacramento trip just to eat here again.

This is my new favorite restaurant possibly in the world. 🙋♀️ The Chile rellano platter was on point! The horchata is to die for. The flavors in everything was perfection! My husband got the birria burrito and it was fantastic. Everything was perfect and I can't wait to go again! I cannot recommend this place enough!!!!!

This place blew me away - Edit
Oh my gosh! I couldn't really decide what I wanted so I went with their combo and my goodness! The portions were great, food quality amazing and I can't believe I haven't been here before! I have an onion allergy so most places are a bit of a headache and even when I say ALLERGY** it constantly gets covered in onions. HOWEVER this place, not a single little cutting of onion was found. They were so detailed and fast and accurate I cannot hype this place enough!!

Tacos! Tacos! Tacos! - Edit
Simply put, this is the best vegan Mexican food in the Sacramento area.
Read moreI've tried most things on the menu and while all delicious, I am a huge fan of their tacos and keep coming back for more.
Yes, it's on the pricey side. Yes, it's tucked back in the corner of a strip mall in Rosemont. But when you have those tacos you'll forget all about that.
Pro tip: You can mix and match the "crunchy tacos" if you can't decide on just one filling.

I’ve never tried the tacos because I’m so obsessed with other things there lol. I’ll have to try the tacos one day though.

So many options! - Edit
I’ve gone here a few times and really enjoyed the food. The “carne asada” is probably my favorite option. The birria burrito was fantastic. I wasn’t so impressed with the fish burrito. If you’re looking for something savory and filling, the birria tacos or burritos are my recommendation!

Great As Ever - Edit
We are very familiar with their location in Monterey and recently got the opportunity to try their Sacramento location. Delicious as expected! We arrived fairly soon after opening and we're greeted by friendly staff. Our food came out quickly and was as tasty as the Monterey location. It's really wonderful to finally have a vegan Mexican restaurant within regular reach! No complaints!

Best all vegan Mexican ever! - Edit
If y'all haven't been here yet, run! Don't walk-like legit run yo ass over there! This is the sister location of the famous South Bay based restaurant. They need and deserve all the support they can get. All vegan! A few GF items available. A large variety of super delicious Mexican-American traditional food veganized! They have mock meats, sub cheezes, jackfruit, and maybe some day they'll use hearts of palm. Customer service is friendly, helpful and they are humbled by compliments. All they need is more decorations on the walls in the dining area like they do in the hallway, and some traditional Mexican music (I was hoping for the full taqueria vibe) and they'll be all set! Hope they stay open’

Excellent Mexican food! - Edit
This was my first time here and my first impression was a good one. First off, they were playing a Christian radio station. Being a Christian myself, I very much appreciated that. Secondly, there were a ton ton ton of options. I ordered the nachos as they are one of my favorite things to eat. They were about $15 and the serving size was way more than generous. I didn't end up eating dinner that night because it filled me up so much. They give you free chips and salsa too and the salsa had just the right spiciness. I will be coming back to try the tortas as the kind server suggested I try.
Read moreI went here a second time and got the Jazz Fish Burrito. It was very spicy with the jalapeños and the hot salsa but very flavorful. It was a massive burrito too. I wanted to try the Fried Plantains for dessert but was just too full... Maybe next time. It was about $15 and well worth the cost.
Third time here and I got the Crispy Potato Tacos with a side of Pinto Beans that it came with. Super good and super filling. The tacos had some kind of faux sour cream that made the tacos even better. Go to this place if you haven't been. So far everything has been good.
Fourth time here and this place does not disappoint. I got the quesabirria burrito and it came with a side of consomme which I guess is similar to a dipping sauce/soup. Get ready for some spice with this one. It's pretty hot/spicy... But in a good way. Super tasty and I would highly recommend if you like spicy food. Oh yeah, I got the delicious Horchata again too. A little pricey for the Horchata (like $7) but it's worth it if you love Horchata.
This time I got the BBQ Chik'n burrito with a spinach tortilla. It had pineapple and some kind of BBQ sauce that was a bit too spicy and a bit off on the flavor for me. This one didn't hit the mark for me but that may be just my preference. It had a lot of flavor but I thought it was just ok... A little too spicy.
One of the waitresses suggested the torta as one of her favorites so I decided to try it this time. I was not disappointed. It was just a tad spicy but not that bad. The bread was soft and outstanding. Overall, one of my favorite (there's going to be lots here) things here. Of course, I had to get the Horchata again because I am a big fan!

Vegan Mexican combo meals! - Edit
This place is even better than the Monterey one! The black beans are creamier and richer, and the small side salad has fresher produce and tastier dressing. Otherwise, the rest of the food is just as amazing as the Monterey restaurant. I’ve tried the Large Chili Relleno plate at both locations- love everything about it. This time I also ordered a Nopal burrito to go- wow! So delicious in every way- creamy rice and beans, tasty grilled and spiced nopalitos. This place sends my taste buds to heaven and is a vegan dream restaurant.

So happy for a second location… This is my favorite vegan restaurant - Edit
Just had an incredible dining experience at El Cantaro Vegan Taqueria in Sacramento! As a longtime fan of their sister restaurant in Monterey, I was thrilled to try out their new location, and it did not disappoint.
Read moreThe first thing that caught my attention was the spacious dining area. Compared to the Monterey spot, this one had a much larger space, making it perfect for a comfortable and enjoyable meal.
Now, let's talk about the food. I ordered my all-time favorite, the Authentic Mole Negro, from their traditional plates menu. The flavors were on point, just like I remember from the Monterey location. The rich and complex taste of the mole sauce was a delight to my taste buds.
In addition to that, we also tried their three enchilada plate with green sauce. The enchiladas were filled with delicious ingredients and smothered in a flavorful green sauce. Each bite was a burst of amazing flavors that left me craving for more.
I can't express how delighted I am that El Cantaro Vegan Taqueria now has two locations, one in Monterey and the other in Sacramento. If you're a fan of vegan cuisine or simply looking for a fantastic dining experience, I highly recommend giving this place a visit. You won't be disappointed!
Pros: Great Dinning Area with lots of parking , Incredible Flavors, not too spicy , Try the mole!
Cons: I have nothing to complain about

Worth a 2 hr drive... FOR SURE - Edit
It's fascinating to see more and more vegan restaurants popping up, especially when they are as incredibly good as this! Each of our plates were submerged in savory flavor. The menu is inexplicably FULLY VEGAN, but it sure can fool any meat-eater. Typical Mexican food without the torture and suffering to animals, that leave your mouth longing for more 🤤

I got the nachos and really enjoyed it, portion sizes were large to the point that by the time I finished, the beans started to get cold! The food was amazing and I especially loved the (vegan) creme sauce and guac.
