Amazing restaurant! All vegan, tasty and so much flavor. The entire time we were there, there was a line out the door. I knew it was going to be good but I was flown away. Everything was solidly good. The horchata has me wishing I would have grabbed some to go. I’m already planning what to try next time we are in Sacramento.

Extremely good. Had the chilaquiles and it was one of the best I’ve ever had - great flavor and not a lot of gimmicks. Had a bite of a pollo asado taco and that was also extremely good. Will be returning.

We love El Cantaro. I’ve tried multiple items on the menu (burritos, crunchy tacos. Ranchero tacos, taquitos and tostadas). I haven’t been disappointed yet. They don’t claim to be healthy, just vegan. It’s not in the best location but they are super sweet people and they keep the restaurant clean. It’s not fancy, it’s a taqueria with a huge menu of delicious Mexican food made to order. I don’t mind the prices because my food is always delicious, fresh and hot.

I was super excited to try this place cause I love Mexican food. I got a burrito. It was cold inside and the cheese wasn't melted. They also forgot the sour cream. It was pricy for what it was $23 with tax and tip for 1 burrito with no drink. It's in a rundown strip mall with homeless people sleeping outside. Would not recommend or return.

Small Mexican restaurant where you order at the counter. Could definitely tell why it’s a top rated vegan restaurant in Sac! We had the Nachos add carne asada & the chick’n taquitos. Both were sooooo good! The chick’n has a mild/medium spice to it. Nachos were loaded with all the goodies. They give complimentary chips and salsa. Salsa is a bit spicy! If you’re in Sac and looking for a good Mexican spot, this is it!

I come here pretty often. I typically get the nachos, the quesabirria burrito, or the asada el cantaro burrito. All of it tastes very good. The horchata is a hit or miss and idk why that is...but when it is good, it is really good!! This is probably my fave spot in Sacramento. The only thing I dislike about this place is that they close very early Friday and are closed Saturday.

Vegan Torta - Edit
I can’t remember the last time I had a torta after 15 years of being a vegetarian. Torta with “meat” anyway, I wouldn’t have been able to tell the difference with the one I tried here it was so delicious! The texture was on point and with all the fillings gave it that much more flavor. I wish they had a location closer to me I’d definitely be a regular. It was a bit busy in the afternoon in the middle of the wk which is a good sign the food is great!

Burrito was huge, generous portion, good but the* smell felt off to me.? I normally eat black beans so maybe I forgot what pinto beans smell like? My bad. My favorite was the taco, I could have gone for more, with lots of lime and salt. Yum! Would recommend!
Location itself has potential, but it’s a bummer it’s in a corner near a smoke shop and there’s litter around the plaza. Interior can be cozy, but overall a streamline layout.

Decent size place in the corner of the strip mall. Order at counter. I did not take any of her first time suggestions, combo #1, enchiladas, tacos. Nobody but myself at 3:30, so between lunch and dinner. Since it is far from home, I hope to come back again to try more of the menu. Thumbs up for price performance quality and quantity.

10/10, I don’t know what else to say 😆 The only thing I could ding them on is the employee I interacted with was slightly rude for no apparent reason, and they were also out of a few things on the menu I wanted (like Horchata). However, I don’t think you can’t really go wrong with anything on the menu. Honestly I can’t wait to go back here. 🌯 😋

Our second time here, so freakin' good! We ate here our first night in town and last day out for the 4-day Aftershock festival. This place is a destination meal for sure. We came back for the quesa-birria burrito, a favorite. This time I also tried the quesa-birria tacos, and they're incredible. I think you get more bang for your buck with the burrito, it's larger and has beans, plus is a bit cheaper actually. Our group also got the torta, mega quesadilla, and pozole, and everyone loved their order. Our last stop on the way out of town we got the taquitos appetizer, chilaquiles, mole tacos, and bean & cheese burrito. And then the churro ice cream, ughhhhh SO GOOD! Everything we've tried has been excellent. Wonderful flavors. Highly recommended for anyone who loves good food!

Small place tucked into the corner of a strip center with a varied menu and all homemade. I had a Chiken Tostada and a Soft Baja Fish Taco. The tortilla was thick and handmade, rare for any Mexican restaurant. I overheard someone say the burritos are amazing. Oh well, next time!

Great variety on the all vegan menu. I had the bean and cheese burrito and enchiladas (not at the same time, as much as I would have liked to! 🤣 Lunch and dinner. The enchiladas and side of rice and beans were very flavorful and oh so good!! I’m looking forward to returning next month when I am there again!

I love this place! The potato tacos are the bomb. The ‘beef’ and chkn is so perfectly seasoned. I always get the fries too as they are homestyle, thick and salted just right.

I first discovered El Cantaro in Monterey, so was stoked to learn about this newer location in Sac! This is a fully vegan Mexican restaurant with both veggie and mock meat options. My go to is the spinach enchiladas with xmas sauce - so tasty and perfect meal size with the side of rice and beans they come with. Friendly for gluten-free folks, too.
