Lovely food for almost no money

The best time to go here is between 12.00 and 16.00. They have a daily menu from which you get all different kind of foods on a plate. The varying colours, smells and tastes are surprisingly good. You get a soup, juice, plate with 5 different foods, desert and coffee or tea. We paid 13000 COP each. It's fast, tasty and cheap. Perfect!

Great food and good service

The menu was vegan, very good and healthy (Soup, drink, plate, dessert and infusion) for 13000. The manager was very nice and asked me if I had enough to eat, if I wanted more, but It was enough! They have a small grocery with vegan cookies and other products. The restaurant is right next to the metro station Sudamericana.

Very tranquilo, nice atmosphere and great food

What a nice treat to get Colombian homecookin' in a restaurant that is all vegetarian. The food is very unique compared to the non-meat options at little Colombian restaurants, and the service is excellent.

Just a couple blocks from the metro station in a very nice neighborhood. Definitely a good spot.

Pros: Varied plate of food & dessert, Excellent service, Quiet location

the home of Medellin home-cooking

This is a gem of a place tucked into a quiet street very close to the Museum of Modern Art. As others have stated, it's run by an owner/chef with some very creative ideas and a real homemade touch. Also as mentioned below, the price is a bit higher than most restaurants offering a set menu, but not by an extreme amount and it is reflected in the quality and atmosphere. They also sell some natural food products at the counter. Note that it is only open for lunch from 12-4. Recommended!

Pros: homemade, friendly, pleasant location

Cons: limited hours, only set menu

great food, super-friendly staff

A wonderful, unassuming restaurant with excellent food and a friendly staff.

el arbol de la vida offers a set menu of regional food:. when we visited, there was a first course of soup followed by a sauteed tofu dish accompanied by carmalized plantain, rice, a chocolo (sweet corn) patty, and salad. fresh fruit juice and later tea and desert were also served. The food was plentiful, delicious, and *very* reasonably priced (around 10000 pesos, about $5 american dollars).

we loved the food, and then became touched by the owner (who is also the cook). when we learned that tamales were available for take out, the owner prepared one for us. it too was authentic and delicious. later when my colombian partner recognized a tomate de arbol (a sweet tomato fruit) desert behind the counter, the owner offered it to us free of charge (and then asked if we wanted more). it too was delicious.

we will definitely return to this restaurant next time we visit medellin! by the way, the restaurant is located in a nice area of town (suramericana) worth a look around after lunch

Pros: great regional food, friendly staff, inexpensive
