Great addition to Park Slope - Edit
REINFORCING THIS: The hours, and menu, keep changing, so check first!
Read moreAS OF THIS WRITING, THE RESTAURANT IS TEMPORARILY CLOSED!!
More Indian-oriented options now.
So many choices for vegans.
The lunch special--eggplant parm with soup or salad--was OK. Just OK.
The mushroom lavash, the salad, and the Brussels sprouts appetizer were wonderful.
The waiter found it necessary to tell us "everything is completely vegan" when he seated us.
There's a great patio out back which can accommodate a group of a couple of dozen diners
The brunch menu allows vegans to have pancakes and French toast!! I enjoyed the chick'n sandwich today and my companion had the French toast. The brunch menu is now on offer every day and throughout the day.
Also a nice beer selection.
On another brunch visit the waffles and chic'n, and the pancakes, were first rate. And the potatoes are spectacular.

Pros: Vegan brunch choices we usually miss out on., Great service.
Cons: Check the hours before you go!!

Earthen is now open at noon, 7 days a week, open until 9:00PM most days and 10:00PM on Friday and Saturday evenings. It's an easy walk from the F train stop, which now has an elevator. And, as I indicated in the caption to the photo, I added, the brunch items except for arepa are on the menu full time.

Kinda meh - Edit
Everything we got was just lackluster and not very flavorful. I hate to give a poor review of an all-vegan place but I was really unimpressed and can’t in good conscience recommend Earthen. Honestly this is the kind of place your Omni friends are referencing when they say, “Oh yeah, I tried vegan food once and it was pretty boring.” Not bad, but not good either. Overall just kinda meh.

Nice Setting, food & service - meh - Edit
Dining with non-vegan friends who live in Park Slope that we hadn’t seen in years, we were excited to take them to a vegan restaurant in their neighborhood. The outdoor patio in the back is very pleasant. The food and service were disappointing. We ordered chana masala and the quinoa curry bowl. Both were quite bland and multiple requests for spices went unmet. I support any restaurant that makes the effort to go 100% plant-based, but our experience was underwhelming.

Loved enjoying a glass of wine on the back patio. We ordered the chorizo dip though, and weren't impressed... The rest of the menu looked promising though!

Great Vegan Restaurant in Park Slope - Edit
So excited to find this awesome vegan restaurant in Brooklyn while visiting this week. Excellent varied menu and great wine and beer options. I had the Pulled Oyster Ciabatta with their home made smashed potato fries. Soooo delicious! Brought home the dinner salad with Lion’s Mane mushroom fried “chick’n”. Great, friendly service. Fantastic food. Highly recommended!

Healthy and satisfying vegan food in Brooklyn - Edit
Healthy vegan food in Brooklyn, NY!
Read moreFood****
We must say this food was good and looked/tasted healthy. A lot of vegan food in nyc is over salted and this was not. We got the quesadilla and the curry bowl. Both were awesome options and very healthy but the curry bowl was better in our opinion.
Atmosphere***
Very tight seating but the atmosphere was nice considering size of the restaurant. It is nyc after all! The bathrooms were clean and seating was comfortable.
Service****
They messed up one order but then fixed it and took an item off the bill for us, which is grade a service!
Price
$$ over $15 per dish on average
Pros: Healthy options
Cons: Expensive

Overpriced, uninteresting food - Edit
The menu is mostly American comfort food staples and taste about as bland as they seem. While they are making an effort by not using commercial meat substitutes, some things fall flat. Their burger is a bean and grain mix that flattens and squishes out of the bun as you bite into it. Adding insult to injury, they don't have fries, just smashed potatoes with a flavorless aioli. A seasonal squash soup was equally unremarkable.

Delicious whole food plant-based options in Brooklyn - Edit
Earthen is a great addition to vegan dining in NYC. They stand out from the crowd by offering delicious and satisfying good made from whole plants.
Read moreI have nothing against processed foods but it's awesome to have options besides burgers, mac and cheese, etc. I came with a friend and we got the saffron arancini (Italian rice balls with a crispy battered exterior), roasted brussels sprouts with sliced almonds and tahini dressing, quinoa curry bowl and the crispy fried lion's mane mushroom sandwich. We also got both dessert options, the chocolate chip cookie (more like a financier which was a bonus for me) and the strawberry chocolate mousse (not silky like a conventional mousse but very tasty). All the food was great, with my favourite being the lion's mane sandwich which was crispy with a great bite, and a good tangy slaw providing a nice brightness.
The dining room feels contemporary but cosy and I'm looking forward to checking out their back patio in warmer weather. Yash the owner was really friendly and attentive as the place was starting to quiet down. For all these reasons I highly recommend supporting Earthen. We need more places like this and people like Yash in NYC, and the world!
Pros: Tasty food, nice space, friendly staff, Fair pricing, Good variety of dishes
Cons: Grainy texture of chocolate mousse

Attentive service; mediocre food - Edit
Overall I was pretty disappointed with the food here. I ordered the curry quinoa bowl and it was bland and lacked any kind of spice or excitement. The smashed potatoes were good texture-wise, but nothing to write home about. Our server was friendly and helpful, but I wouldn’t come back here again.

Great food - Edit
I came here with a friend after a ride in the park. We had the corn esquites as an appetizer. I got the chick’n sandwich and my friend got the earthen burger. For dessert we got the chocolate chip cookie. Everything was delicious. Will have to come back to try the rest of the menu.

Great service, our dishes lacked flavor or interest - Edit
Dined with a few others the other week. The owner was extremely kind and the menu looked good. We ordered a mushroom toast thing, arancini, the fried smashed potatoes and a salad. Nothing really stood out to us flavor wise. Saw that they have a chickn sandwich which did look good. The potatoes were the high point but not enough to rank it higher for us. This is just based on our experience and perhaps we didn’t get the top chef but we would hesitate before going back unless changes were made. I know this is a relatively new restaurant so I’m sure things will change for the better.

All vegan in Park Slope! - Edit
Had the chikn sandwich made of Lion's mane mushroom, the Earthen veg burger, lavish, aracini, and smashed potatoes. All of these were very good. Outdoor patio in back is great. I'd love to see a side salad or fries served with the burgers and sandwiches. Park Slope desperately needs more all vegan restaurants and this is wonderful to have. Show them some love.

We are so lucky Earthen opened in park slope, where the vegan options have been so limited! The food at Earthen is fresh and vegetable-forward. The owner is so friendly. The backyard is lovely. We can’t wait to go again and try more of the menu.

Delicious healthful food with excellent service - Edit
It is a small restaurant but very peaceful with both tables inside and outside on a spacious patio in the back. Yosh was our "server" but it turned out he was the owner of the restaurant. We chose this restaurant because there were many options on the menu for people like us that eat whole food plant based food. We also do not eat a lot of oil and want low sodium. We were NOT disappointed in the slightest. We started by sharing a bowl of asparagus soup and the sugar snap pea starter. Everything is made fresh in house and in a week or so the sugar snap peas would be taken off the menu because they would no longer be available fresh. The soup was delicious. The sugar snap peas were cooked just right - a little crisp when you bite one - in a sauce with sesame seeds, tamari and crispy shallots.
Read moreFor the main course I ordered the grilled veggie wrap minus the vegan mozzarella plus extra seasoned beans. There was a little cup of house made guacamole on the side. It was a whole wheat thin tortilla. I loved that it also had broccoli, some kind of greens, and other veggies in it along with poblano salsa. It was very flavorful with just the right amount of spiciness. My husband ordered the veggie fried rice. It had a lot of interesting ingredients including brown rice. It was a little salty but not too bad. We would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Pros: Menu options, Everything freshly made in house, Great service
Cons: No cons!
