Good Eats, Terrible Java - Edit
My husband and I both enjoyed our meals. I had a vegan tempeh sandwich that was super yummy with a side of black eyed peas. There are several vegan options on the menu and the atmosphere is sunny. Lots of primary colors and great local art on the walls. Friendly staff. The coffee was awful, in our opinion. I am spoiled from working as a barista in the past, but my husband (who is a gas station coffee guy) also thought the java was terrible. Overall, great food and would definitely go back again, but order tea instead!

One of my favs - Edit
Whenever I am in town I always hit the early girl. Is it long lines and mediocre service yes, but the food is so good I am willing to over look that. Not tons of choices for vegans but Im a vegetarian and everything I have had from here is amazing. Try the vegetarian herb gravy or the veg breakfast bowl!! SOOO GOOD!

Lots of options, okay service - Edit
Lots of options for vegans and they are happy to accommodate you. We waited a LONG time to get in here because they catered to me and my meat-eating dad. After about an hour they apparently gave our table away - which upset us and we didn't find out about this until maybe half an hour later. I think we finally sat down almost two hours after we put our name down. Not worth the wait but was happy with the food. I probably would not return, especially not on a weekend when they were packed.

Okay - Edit
Went here with my vegetarian husband so he could get an omelet or something eggy for breakfast. There weren't a ton of vegan options for me, all I saw was a tofu scramble or granola/soy milk. I got the tofu scramble, which was pretty good but not the best I've had. The tofu wasn't very well marinated or scrambled... it was cubed, plain-tasting tofu mixed in with a lot of peas and some other veggies. I'm not sure how it would have tasted without the ton of hot sauce I added.
Read moreMy husband seemed to like his omelet, but he's easy to please.
I'm not sure what our bill totaled to, or how much these things usually cost, but the prices seemed a bit steep to me. For instance, my orange juice was $4.50 and it was a tiny glass.
The restaurant itself is cute (like everywhere in Asheville) and the service was quick but not especially friendly.
I wouldn't be interested in going back, but I'm sure I eventually will simply for my husband. Eh.
Pros: cute restaurant
Cons: so-so service, lack of options

Early Girl Eatery - Edit
Very good vegetarian restaurant! Had dozens of vegetarian and vegan options such as tempeh reuben sandwich, tofu scrambler, vegan chili, black bean burger, sweet potatoes and black bean patties, potato soup, vegan/vegetarian gravies, avocado and spout sandwich, and much more! I have tried many of these items and they are very good. The menu changes with seasonal produce. They use a lot of organic produce, local produce, and cage free eggs. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and friendly service. It can get busy sometimes, so there many be a wait. Great place to go with friends for a casual dinning experience.

very good, but few options - Edit
I like this place with it's take on lighter Southern fare, but I don't go often because there's really only one vegetarian entree at dinner and I get tired of having the same thing. The one entree is really good, though. Nice, relaxed place. Breakfast is good with several vegetarian options, only one vegan...

Not so veg friendly - Edit
We try to go for brunch and all they had was tofu scramble. The place was crowded and all the carnivores looked at us like we were weird. Not veg friendly...

not a lot of vegan, but its good - Edit
You're better off at the Laughing Seed, but if you're warn out or there's a long wait Early is worth going to. The Tofu Scramble is really good.
