BEST vegan “calamari” (konjac) I’ve ever had - so so tasty and salad is insanely yum. I also had the eggplant parmi Foccacia sandwich which was so filling and delicious.

I had the zucchini sandwich. The almond ricotta was Devine. Would've loved a little more. Had an orange Aperol spritz too which was really refreshing. Would love to try the olive meatball sandwich another time. Super cute inside too. Down the quieter end of King Street. The owner was really friendly and helpful.

My last day in Sydney and I had to try this place! I’m so glad I did. The owner is an absolutely lovely bloke who I spent sometime chatting with and he made me feel truly welcome.

The restaurant itself is also really lovely, such a warm, homely welcoming place.
Highly recommended.

The owner of the store was extremely friendly and accommodating of my dietary requirements (gluten free soy free) and made the group I was in feel very welcome. Of the entrees I tried - the konjacmari, carpaccio & crispy chips. Of the mains I tried the GF Focacce Parmigana & Ricotta Zucchini. Everything was absolutely phenomenal. The calamari with seaweed tartare and the Ricotta Zucchini Focacce were especially amazing. Everything was seasoned so well and serving sizes were very generous. We will definitely be coming back 😋😋

This is a truly great eatery. Burgers are tasty and the vegan calamari is just the best. Lorenzo has so much pride in making sure your experience is the best. Really is a wonderful place to hang out and meet with friends, or eat solo.

A lot of vegan food is repeated flavours. And what can you do only so many ingredients. Well don Fred blew it out of the park. I was eating my food and had to double check it was all vegan. Amazing. Absolutely amazing.

There are not enough superlatives to describe the food at Don Fred. With every bite of my burger I felt like I died and went to heaven.

The owner is super friendly and made us feel welcome. He is attentive, cares about the service and quality of food.

I popped there for a late lunch as they are open all the time from 12pm to 9pm. I had a focaccia with an amazing schnitzel and a good beer. The place has great atmosphere. Every detail matches. Last but not least, the music, probably Italian dub was great too. I n my opinion the best place in Sydney for vegan European food.

Amazing food & service. The owner (Lorenzo) is a wonderful host. On arrival he greeted us warmly. Also went through the menu in detail. You can tell this place is passionate about the food they serve. We had a wonderful experience. Highly recommend for vegans & non-vegans alike.

I've been twice, once very jet lagged at lunch with a friend, and once for dinner with my partner. The food and service was excellent both times. There are some really inventive sandwiches and salads, which were great for lunch. For dinner we tried a couple of options from the great range of starters, including vegan calamari and fried, battered zucchini. For mains, the vegan egg on my partner's burger was amazing, as were my burnt olive meatballs. I felt super welcome both times too. Highly recommended!

Read moreThe focaccia is always perfectly light and tasty and they have a really interesting range of filling options which really stand out from the usual vegan burger/sandwich options around. They're also generous portions and very reasonably priced for what you get!
This time we opted for the crispy zucchini & ricotta and the beyond sausage & rocket and were not let down, both incredibly tasty and filling. We also got the Konjac Calamari which was a huge success fried to perfection and paired with a really good dipping sauce.
To top it all off, it's a really cool space, great music and atmosphere and friendly staff. A perfect location to get a bite to eat on a night out in Newton

been here twice. I had rocket and beyond Focacce and Americano Burger. Focacce bread is amazing quality. Flavor and presentation is really above average one of the better vegan restaurants in Sydney.
