A dulcet dwelling of divine dishes.

Can be a bit noisy but otherwise an enjoyable location.

Hit and miss

Been finding Dishoom á little hit or miss lately. I still find it bizarre that they only have one vegan curry though they do have plenty of other options (which are more snacks as opposed to full meals). The chole chawal (appreciate the pickles and onion salad, I see they have done away with the halwa which is just á well as I never ate it) is a safe option and I always enjoy the gunpowder potatoes and roomali roti. I would have had the rice pudding which I know from another visit is very good but I had no room.

Great Vegan Breakfasts

Whenever I'm in the UK, I make an effort to go to Dishoom for breakfast. We always order the same dishes, and it's always delicious.

My partner gets the vegan Bombay, which is a big hearty cooked breakfast. There are a couple of well seasoned sausages, a flavoursome tofu scramble, sliced mushrooms, baked beans, black pudding, grilled tomato, and toasted bread buns. We've had a lot of takes on this kind of breakfast where the beans are just tinned or the scramble is really bland, but at Dishoom everything feels well seasoned and made with care.

I always get the vegan sausage naan roll. The sausages are so good, the melted cheese and sauce bring nice additional flavour, and the bread is pillowy soft.

I'm also a big fan of the oat milk chai, which comes with free refills, and the staff don't skimp on offering them. Service was attentive and the menu has a reasonable number of vegan options. Even right at opening time on a Sunday it was quite busy, so you can reserve a table if you're really keen.

Pau buns! Roti!

Immediately upon arriving, they asked me about my dietary needs and I said vegan and they handed me a separate menu and it was full! There were so many things I wanted to try, but as a solo diner, I had to pick and choose carefully. This place is meant to sample and try 😍

I tried their Pau buns which felt like a similar concept to bao buns, and it stole the show for me. I wish I had a reason (& stomach) to order 3!

Their Chole Chawal was really delicious but only order if you can handle medium-hot spice. I was warned about it beforehand but I told the server I wasn’t afraid of spice (I’m not - usually a spice sweat feels pretty good!) but yeah this was HOT! I did manage through and enjoy it very much.

Roti 🫓 - also soosooo good!

Environment was a great spot to eat solo if you’re in Shoreditch. The service attention was really good and the aesthetic was really fun.

Pros: Pau, Roti

Great vibe… awesome food!

The Bombay Vegan breakfast was very tasty! Many have had said so already and I second that.

The vegan Oat Milk Chai reminded me of the chai from the Parsi joints in Bombay and Pune!

Pros: Lots of vegan options - a separate menu, The chai!, The vibe - cozy and def group promoting

Cons: None

Best Indian food I've ever had

This place is an experience. You will have to queue for quite a while but it's worth it. At some point we were led to the bar where we could wait to be seated. They had a huge selection of original drinks and many vegan dishes to choose from. I am still thinking of the food and definitely want to go back.

Pros: Really tasty food, Very nice staff

Cons: Long queues, Rather expensive

Best food intolerance menus ever!

I have never seen a restaurant go through so much detail -even on spices/onion/garlic/ egg vs dairy for food intolerances. It’s incredible. I forgot to ask if the nuts were peanuts, so that’s on me, but the food was delicious. We got very lucky with our walk in (no reservations for parties under 6) because there was a huge line out the door on a Thursday by the time we left. They have vegan gluten free desserts, delicious mocktails and rose cardamom lassi if you’re not vegan. Food was excellent.

Vegan brunch was lovely!

Went here for brunch yesterday and it was really nice!! There was even vegan scramble, vegan black pudding and lots more! I did feel it was quite pricey and crammed in there for what it was as was £13.70 but it was but it was still an enjoyable experience

Pros: Good vegan options

Cons: Crammed , Quite pricey

Trendy & hectic, ok food

It’s very busy and hectic with their no booking thing… the menu is odd - sharing plates but with some oddly expensive dishes thrown in that aren’t any bigger. They had sold out of a fair few things. So basically wasn’t impressed! Some of it tasted nice, but meh really.

Pros: Separate vegan menu, Tasty food

Cons: Hectic venue, Expensive , Small portions unevenly priced

Dishoom

People really love, or are really disappointed by, Dishoom. I think there's a bit of level-setting as to what you can expect here. Firstly, Dishoom is not a typical Indian restaurant, so if you're having a craving for your favorite Indian dish you can find at almost any Indian restaurant, check Dishoom's menu first! Dishoom offer elevated, creative, and sometimes unique dishes and it seems they continue to add more vegan options (e.g., they recently added mango lassi and naan). The black daal made vegan is delicious, as is the gunpowder potatoes dish. Samosas are a great option too. You'll also find many dishes at Dishoom that you likely will not find at other Indian restaurants. It's a great experience and a good place to have a meal at a nice restaurant.
