Excellent - Edit
I was very impressed with this restaurant. The food was tasty and beautifully presented and the staff were nice and attentive. A good range of options on the menu, I would happily go back here if I am in Edinburgh again.

Great food - Edit
Like many vegetarian restaurants, Bann’s cuisine draws inspiration from multiple geographical regions. In the past, I’ve found places like this often have plenty of choice but never truly master any one style. Bann’s is different. Not only is there a wide variety on the menu, but the quality is outstanding—high-end dining.
Read moreThe staff are attentive, and if you mention your dietary preferences, they’re quick to understand and accommodate. The atmosphere is relaxed, and I’ve taken people with all sorts of tastes here—nobody has left disappointed. There’s also a great wine selection.
If I had one small critique, it’s that the menu doesn’t change very often. As someone living in Edinburgh, I notice this, but for tourists it won’t matter—you’ll just be blown away by the flavours.
I’ve returned many times: for a light lunch of olives and bread followed by teriyaki tofu with udon noodles (delicious), for beautifully elevated vegetarian haggis, and for a celeriac starter that’s pure perfection.
Today’s visit was another winner—Charred Brassica and David’s Signature Smoked Tofu, both cooked to perfection and bursting with flavour.
Still fantastic food, still fabulous service, still a must-visit in Edinburgh.

Nice - Edit
More upscale than we realized when we walked in a bit dirty with three backpacks in tow 😂 but the staff was very kind. Vegan options clearly marked. We thought it was worth the stop but the food was just ok!! The dessert plate was interesting but I’d skip it next time. My partner thought the miso ice cream was delectable whilst I thought it was criminally terrible. The chocolate lava cake hit the spot though.

Definitely has improved for vegans - Edit
Hadn't been here for over a decade, always remembered it as being good for vegetarians but only having one vegan option, but it seems to be better now! Gnocchi starter and koftas were delicious. Cocktails were good too. I wasn't as impressed with the dessert, the cake was very dry.

Cocina tradicional adaptada - Edit

Lovely atmosphere, excellent food - Edit
A lovely setting for some great vegan food. A complimentary amuse bouche/ appetiser followed by a very tasty vegan tofu and beetroot salad ( quinoa, broccoli, green beans, toasted walnuts and orange and tahini dressing). All washed dow with a rose pinot grigio. Courteous and friendly staff.

Incredible high end vegan food - Edit
Many vegan options due to being 100% vegetarian, with a very ‘fine dining’ feel but for a very reasonable price. The food was very well flavoured and had interesting takes, like a basmati rice cake with the kofta and courgette wraps on haggis. Very highly recommend!

Dinner! - Edit
Came here at 17:00 on Saturday for an early dinner. The place was already decently full! Two of us were spoilt for choice with the menu but opted to share some olives, followed by the leek risotto and the aubergine koftas. Creative menu for both food and drinks, alcoholic and otherwise!! 95% options, if not already vegan, are vegan on request. Cannot recommend enough!

Delicious vegan options - Edit
Vegetarian restaurant with some vegan options and others they can make vegan eg by leaving off the cheese. Friendly service and we were greeted by a small welcome cup of beetroot gazpacho.
Read moreWe had the celeriac risotto, the haggis courgette rolls with crispy polenta and root veg, and the vegan dessert plate for two (warm choc cake with plum on top, pineapple jelly, raspberry chocolates and two ice creams).
It all tasted great although we were underwhelmed by the jelly. The main meal portion wasn't quite filling enough for us either. Definitely recommended though!

Good but Hendersons so much better - Edit
I think I would have given this three stars but for my husband who liked it a lot more than I did.
Read moreTo me the atmosphere is a lot of my joy and there is a very comfortable atmosphere here, nice spacing between tables, although the staff is just OK, not as friendly or accommodating as Hendersons (which, can you tell, I adored).
The gnocchi appetizer was probably the best thing I had there, was very large portion for an appetizer, almost looked like a main. The potatoes were OK but not browned or crisp enough, and the soup of the day which was just OK.
For the main I got the beet Curry, of which the best part was the fried bananas, and Chandler got the risotto which he enjoyed. We got the chocolate cake dessert and everything was OK, but just OK.
