So disappointed

I wanted to go here back when I was in San Diego but didn't have the chance, so I was thrilled to see I happened to be staying by their LA location. The restaurant itself is beautiful. My friend and I ordered the fried zucchini and the mushroom fettuccine. First, they brought us focaccia and pesto. It was delicious though the focaccia came in a brown bag, so that was a bit weird. Not too long after, our dishes came out. The fried zucchini was just okay. I have had better at chain restaurants like Carrabba's. The pieces of zucchini were too big, so it wasn't that crispy. The marinara sauce on the side was bland. The fettuccine was so overcooked that it was falling apart, and the sauce was super salty. I had a few bites and decided to just eat the rest of the bread and pesto instead. We were going to order the tiramisu for dessert, but we were so underwhelmed by our meal that we decided to go home and eat some tiramisu Oreos that we had bought a few days prior haha. Considering the quality too, this place is extremely overpriced. Would not recommend.

A Nice Idea

A separate vegan menu is nice, but where are the greens? A vegan Caesar salad wouldn't be that hard. Pasta is OK, sure would have been improved with a side of broccoli or sauteed spinach.

Pros: Free bread, Classy atmosphere , Wine options

Cons: Too expensive

Deliziosa

The lasagna was delicious 😋
The pesto is fresh and earthy. The lemon ricotta was plain. I enjoyed learning italiano in the restroom lol when you go, you will understand

Pros: Free parking, Plenty of vegan options , Good service

Delicious

Great entrees. They didn’t just figure that pasta primavera would do the trick for vegans. Their only eggplant parm dish is vegan. They have several vegan dishes and offer vegan cheese. The food was to die for. A few serious vegan desserts are also offered.

Pros: Great vegan offerings , Delicious desserts , Generous portions

Cons: Pricey

Nice pasta place

I like the flavor and how the pasta was cooked. It’s a bit expensive for a bowl of pasta but the service was good.

Cons: Expensive

Finally authentic Italian with clear vegan menu

I am a brit that now lives in LA and I have missed Italians cuisine. (Don’t get me wrong I do enjoy American Italian). So it was so refreshing trying out Civico. I loved the options of food! I had the vegan calamari, the puttanesca and tiramisu plus yummy Chianti. They also give bread with a vegan pesto! The staff know what they are doing and every dish I had was delicious. The tiramisu was just how I remember having it in Florence. Personally myself and my vegan boyfriend loved this place! The dangerous part is it’s walking distance from where I live haha. A great place to go dine with non- vegan friends too. Definitely give them a try! Their menu appears to change seasonally too.

Clear vegan menu choices

Clear vegan menu offers variety for appetizers and mains. This location is the LA location, the original is in San Diego. The service was great and the restaurant had an authentic Italian atmosphere.
The flavors were good but the textures were lacking in the ricotta appetizer, eggplant Parmesan, and tiramisu dishes that I ordered. Overall though I think this is a solid restaurant to enjoy with non vegan family or friends.
