A unique experience - Edit
We recently visited Chiccas Restaurant and although it’s not a vegan restaurant, Chicca impressed us with her willingness to create a variety of vegan options. Her knowledge for vegan cuisine was clear and much appreciated.
Read moreWe ordered the vegan tapas platter for two, along with a vegan burger. The tapas platter was visually stunning and offered an impressive variety of flavors and dishes. However, the portions were incredibly generous—almost overwhelming. It’s definitely a great option for those with a hearty appetite.
Chicca herself is a lively and passionate host, bringing a lot of energy to the dining experience.
It might not be the ideal place if you prefer a quieter, more reserved atmosphere.
The Restaurant was clean and welcoming and we enjoyed the Christmas decorations.

Best Vegan Tapas around - Edit
Every bite was delightful. She is an amazing chef with years of vegan experience. We called a couple days ahead to let her know that we wanted the Vegan Tapas Platter. It was Fantastic! Too full for dessert. The vegan chocolate cake looked amazing. 😋 This place rocks for vegan options.

Pros: The Tapas, The Fantastic Vegan Salad was a favorit, Fresh and full of homemade goodness , We always clean our plates. Every bite

Awesome - Edit
small, very cute restaurant.
Read moreThe boss is very nice, bubbly and excluded - you can tell she loves her restaurant and her food.
Highly recommended is the lentil/avocado salad.
the absolute hammer, however, is the range of desserts - everything incredibly delicious.
Also highly recommended for vegetarians and vegans. We will be happy to come back again!
Pros: Tasty vegetarian/vegan options, Awesome desserts, nice boss

1 star for having vegan options but strange - Edit
We knew when attending the restaurant that it was predominately meat/fish based but was reassured from other reviews that there were some vegan options. On attending we found very limited options on the menu, we ordered a antipasti platter to start and two different mains. One of the mains (spicy bean burger) was brought without chips as stated. We asked the waiting staff about this and they looked confused and stated that if I wanted chips then they could get some. Food was bland and would not want to eat their food again. Staff seemed on edge and unbalanced, one female in particular took a chair from our table mid meal to stand on it to change a light bulb - not what you want when your trying to enjoy a meal).. we also heard the female swearing to herself.

Lovely atmosphere - Edit
I had the vegan main which was pumpkin pie with their organic 9 salad. Was delightful and very filling.
Read moreFor desert I opted for the vegan chocolate, peanut butter, raspberry cake which was a huge portion, a little dry and heavy and I could only eat about half.

Not so spicy bean burger - Edit
Vegan options are clearly marked on the menu. We ordered the spicy bean burger. The burger wasn't spicy at all, tasted very sweet (I think because of a large amount of almonds inside the burger) and was really thick. It was served on a bread with ketchup and soms sweet sauce (tasted like marmelade). We wouldn't recommend the burger, but didn't try any other dishes. The staff was very nice.

Fabulous food, but loud. - Edit
The food is some of the best I've ever had - great attention to detail and particularly good vegan food. The staff are lovely and incredibly patient with business. The restaurant can be quite loud as the music is a tad loud and the people can be very loud themselves. However, the food and the service is well worth the noise. If I visit again, I would ring up beforehand to book a table and check how busy they are.

Wij komen zeker terug !

Unmet expectations - Edit
Having read all the reviews we had high expectations of this restaurant, however we were left very disappointed with the service and fully agree with the last review before mine.
Read moreWe had to wait a long time to be seated and stood in the doorway for 5-10 minutes. Even a polite glance and nod would have helped our patience but we didn't even get that.
On taking a seat a chalk board was left for us to look at, which is a unique feature of the restaurant. No staff interacted with us or spoke to us about the menu. We ordered our food and had the trio of hummus to start which was amazing. We had to wait a long time for our mains to brought out which were the veg pies and salad and ratatouille. The food was delicious and we finished it off with the peanut butter and raspberry chocolate cake which I thought was incredible but my bf wasn't keen on.
We did try to interact with the staff, and with Chicca, as we saw her chatting to other guests and telling them about the food. We were very disappointed considering we spent €60 here.
We had to wait a long time for the bill and when I asked politely a second time (after about 10 minutes) I was snapped at.
The breadth of the menu when we first arrived got us thinking we would return the next 2 nights of our stay in Luz, but after this experience we drove out to Lagos to eat instead which is a shame for my bf who had to drive.
We also found this place contradictory... #loveanimals but meat all over the menu?!
The only reason it has 2 stars is because the food on it's own was so good.

Unusual as a vegan. - Edit
I had high expectations for Chiccas. Unfortunately, I left disappointed. It is a restaurant full of contradiction.
Read moreUpon our arrival, we were met by our server who didn't engage us at all. Instead she dropped off a chalk board menu (see picture) unceremoniously. Our orders were quickly taken, and our food delivered without any interaction. The food itself was good, but overpriced versus other establishments in the region and the rest of the country. I would not describe it as good value for money.
Despite the servers all wearing #loveanimals on their t-shirts, meat abounds on the menu. They have signs against animal testing and use vegan soaps, but "spare ribs" are the first entree available. I don't get it.
Based on the fact I left smelling like meat, I have to give it 2*
Pros: vegan options
Cons: service, meat

Flavours out of this world - Edit
I came here whilst on holiday, as a vegan in Luz, looking forward to some real food and BOY! Was I not disappointed! The fact even their soap in the toilets is animal friendly put me at ease knowing what I was going to be eating was vegan through and through.
Read moreI had a delicious tart and a selection of salads which were out of this world. Left me very full, but having not had anything sweet (other than port) for a while had to have some vegan chocolate cake. The staff were very happy to pack the rest of the cake for me to take away as there was no way I was going to finish it.
Note: To start you are given bread and you are charged for this despite not ordering.
Pros: Friendly, cheery staff, Labelled vegan, Amazing quality of food

fantastic food selection , quality and service - Edit
Chicca's is as good as the previous descriptions. The queues outside were a testament to the quality of everything about the establishment. Went with 9 blokes on a golf holiday. All were really happy and many went for the wonderful veggie and vegan options. Great to have such a good restaurant in Luz together with the passion that the staff always convey.

Jewel of the Algarve - Edit
This beautiful restaurant really surprised me with its amazing menu....... I think a lot of restaurants in tourist destinations can find it hard to sustain enthusiasm. Chicca's was amazing on many levels, the passion and pride that the owner Chicca shows in her restaurant, food and staff was refreshing. The food was wonderful and Chicca is happy to explain what has gone into the creation of her dishes. I had vegan antipasto which was sautéed shitake mushrooms and various organic salads, then pumpkin tart with ratatouille then vegan chocolate cake and coffee with almond milk!!!! Great staff, lovely atmosphere, highly recommend this restaurant and looking forward to going back in the summer.

I've been Vegan for about a year now and finding a Vegan restaurant in our area is very difficult, but Chiccas is our new found treasure in the last 2 months I've been 3 times once on Valentine's night once with friends and the 3rd time with a party of 11 people for my Birthday! Incredibly delicious food, so many flavors and dishes to choose from, and how better to be served than from an ambassador for healthy eating CHICCA has made her restaurant our place to go, she's brilliant at what she does and her food is superb! I'd recommend it over any restaurant in the Algarve!

You can't visit the Algarve and not have dinner at Chicca's. There are lots of vegan dishes and desserts, and all of them are simply delicious. 10 out of 10, and Chicca is more than nice. She and her staff will make you happy for a night via your mouth and your stomach :D
