Great dumplings - Edit
Came here on the recommendation of a local friend. It isn’t clear what menu items are vegan, and I was not any less confused after trying to consult the staff. (It didn’t help that I don’t speak Taiwanese, which is what he mostly spoke.) But eventually I was told in Chinese that the dumplings, boiled vegetables, and dry noodles were safe. The soups are not because of the mushroom stems they use to make the broth are soaked in egg whites. I ordered twice because I didn’t order enough the first time around, In total, I devoured 16 dumplings (水餃), a small order of sesame paste noodles (麻醬乾麵), and half a plate of boiled water spinach (空心菜). It was satisfying, and I was fond of the dumplings. I was surprised at how the staff didn’t really keep track of orders per table, but I guess they trust customers to recite what they ordered back to them after they’re done eating and ready to settle the tab. Even though I went on a normal day (not the 1st or 15th of the lunar month), it still seemed busy to me. Go for an authentic experience.
