The burger was really tasty and the patatas as well. Very friendly staff and great athmosphere. Vegan bars don't have to "look like vegan bars". They proof it. Definitely coming back!

The Cat Bar is a original burger bar near Picasso Museum with a good selection of homemade beers and very nice vegan burger. Delicious hemp burger with vegetables and vegan mayonnaise whit "patatas bravas".

The menu and ordering process are simple, they have an English menu which is handy for those of us who aren't great at Spanish ?. The burgers are tasty and filling, they don't have fake meat options and instead have different 5 or so different bean/veggie burgers. It's not the best veggie burger I've ever had but it's a damn good burger. The patatas are fabulously greasy and delicious. This place is a must for vegan cat lovers ?.

Nice and simple. 5 vegan burger options and not much else. The two we tried were good and filling. Hemp burger was ok but too much vegan mayo, ask for less if you don't like getting messy. "Crazy" burger (with nuts...) was excellent, great texture and the cheeseless pesto was very tasty. Patatas bravas with smoked paprika was a great addition.

..the list of "rules" for the place was ridiculous. Introduction to Cat Bar starts off with a correction of it's own title. Um, ok. Weak "cat theme" for what it's worth.

A tip is for extra special service, of which we got none. The cutlery one girl said she would bring over was never brought in the end..Treat others as you want to be treated? Indeed.
"There will be a calculator on your phone if you have trouble with arithmetic"?? (Regarding no split bills and tips) Mean-spirited sarcasm reduces the tip even more.
Not that I really care but a description of an upstairs area was described as antique (at 41 years old). Isn't antique older than 100? Anyway...*pedantic*
The silliest rule of all was having to ask permission to play after 15 minutes on the piano. And no registered music. What if your own music is registered? Dilemma...
About the booze: we had wanted a 50cl drink of an IPA but were refused because of it's percentage. I'm nearly 50 and old enough to know what I can handle. I dare say we were not served this because we weren't locals. If this was not the case, then print up several different drink menus and change them out according to your stock (and it's percentages). Or don't offer such a high percentage drink in the first place. Funny, because we were allowed to get the smaller one in multiple numbers (and for a euro more each one). We just had the one and hit the Irish bar down the road where we had 1 beer each *and a laugh*.
No photos as it was far too dark (for my liking) and they didn't come out very well.
About the food: we had the hemp and black cat burgers + patatas bravas and it was the best sauce (imo) we had in Spain. A bit pricey for the food but it is the gothic quarter and it was very filling. At least the food was good...

The burgers here are among the absolute best I've tasted. You can get them with or without bread and they have amazing sauces on them and other yummy toppings, the burgers are served with patatas bravas which are sinfully good and also with sauce and then there's the beer. Vegan craft beers, many options, among them gluten-free options. The atmosphere is cool and laid-back, cats painted on the walls. There are mostly burgers here but there's also a dish of the day which is free from soy and gluten.

We (my vegetarian Mama) and myself absolutely loved Barcelona and definitely CatBar. We walked here three times to eat during our 5 day stay. The food was mouthwatering delicious and so difficult to choose from the great menu. The service was incredible and the location purr-fection. I would go back to Barcelona just to eat at CatBar. The prices were incredible and the space had a nice easy vibe to it. My favourite by far was the seitan shepherds pie - my mouth still waters whenever I think about it.

I really do love dogs but I'm allergic and don't like it when there walking around when I'm eating. And there were all kinds of rules..? NO DRINKING AT THE BAR, NO GROUPS BIGGER THAN 6 PEOPLE.. And we tried almost all the beers and no one seemed to like them. But my burger patatas and the hummus tasted really great!!!

CATBAR IS VERY SMALL AND NARROW, our biggest table holds 6 people, so we have a sign that says so, this is because trying to get large groups out after entering, is much harder than stopping them at the door, as they always say "We can stand", ignoring the fact that there is a maximum number allowed in the premises for safety reasons.
Read moreIf people drank at the bar then no-one else would be able to get near to taste the beers, and if they didn't taste them, they could buy something they didn't like. We serve craft beer with a variety of styles, all with different flavours, all vegan, not watery coloured water that passes for beer in most bars, (we know some people like flavourless beer and there are 3000 other bars that can serve it to you, but their are only about 40 that serve hand made real beer, we were the 4rd).
Also, no-one would be able to get past to go the toilets or to have their food delivered to their table, the signs are because many people only think of themselves.
Dogs are normally kept to the front part of the bar, if you had said something we would have but you on a table away from them.

We only visited here for drinks but given more time we would have loved to have sampled some of the burgers on offer. The menu is small, simple but effective, so if you are expecting fine vegan dining you best go somewhere else. If like me you like a bar full of character, loads of craft beers and great music than this is the place for you. I can imagine this place buzzing on the night time and would live to comeback one day to experience it. As we didn't get any food here I can't really give any higher than 3* but the food we did see other customers eat looked very tasty.

They have good food, but the menu is small and limited. Five choices of burger, a hummus plate (really quite delicious and with excellent presentation), potatoes and I think that was it. For all that people rave about this place I was expecting someplace with a larger food menu, bigger beer selection, and better ambiance. It felt dark and dirty in there. Also, not that many cats on the wall for a cat bar.
