Don’t go late at night.

Might be great in the day but if you go later they don’t offer you food or drinks. Just artists. Which is great but get off of this app.

Very nice place, very nice food, very nice people, very fair price

We ate both two mains they had available, a lentil curry and a tofu based dish, both served with rice and salad. Both very nice! So was the starter and the soup. Only the chocolate cake was a bit dry... but tasty!
All this in a beautiful environment with very kind, respectful and relaxed people. Plus the prices are very very fair!

Comida casera

Espacio social con ambiente internacional (expatriados, turistas y estudiantes). Para ser un centro social me sorprende que la gente que lo lleva sea internacional. La comida es
sencilla, saludable y con precios justos. Buenas vibras, familiaridad y buen ambiente.

Pros: concepto, se puede ir con perro

Cons: No se habla portugués

a student vibe

it is a bit chaotic. yes, it's cheap and sometimes the homeless people hang around for free food.

the music evenings are ok.

but, the service is very slow, it doesn't have a restaurant vibe. it's more of a student hangout place, where food comes if it comes and it looks like something you would make at home at 2 AM after a party. It's very salty. i would not go back there, but there's something for everyone in this city

Best vegan food in the city

Place looks a little grungy at first but do not let that fool you, the food here is great and quite inexpensive. Absolutely loved the food, the hospitality and the vibe. Love and support these types of places

Pros: Great food, Unique, Inexpensive

Cons: Grungy, Kinda Hard to find

Poetry evenings are best

I love the place. It’s really affordable, especially in this area of the city. I managed to eat the whole dinner menu which was a filling set of dishes. I took part in the poetry evening and read Wisława Szymborska’s poem in polish.

Food, wine, and music

I absolutely fell in love with this place. They combined so many great things in such a small space.

Food menu is a little whiteboard that was different each time I was there. It is basically a starter, a small main dish, a large main dish, and a dessert. There is also a drink menu, and a few little other things here and there.

It is also a cultural center, and they do live music, workshops, and more. I enjoyed the Balkan jam night. The musicians, staff, and customers were all warm and welcoming.

There’s also a DIY & community vibe here. You can volunteer in the kitchen. There is a small “free market” by the entrance, where you can take and leave things. There is a sign that says you can eat soup, even if you can’t pay. I wish there were more places like this.

Pros: Music & culture aspect, Real food, Community involvement

Great food, super-friendly and, if you're lucky great music too

Lovely people, super friendly. We didn't discover it until our second night so only got here twice but the food was delicious both nights (Moussaka one night, Lentil Stew the other), plus portion size was BIG and prices were incredibly reasonable. Food is served from 7.30pm. There are starters, a choice of two mains and a dessert option, different each night. On our second night there was a Balkan 'jam' session (every Thursday) and the music was just amazing. Our only regret that we missed Tuesday night's Irish jam session. Maybe we'll have to make Porto a regular holiday destination because this is how we want to spend our evenings! ♥️

Pros: Super friendly, The food is great, Great live music

We loved it!!!

We really enjoyed our time here. The place is super cozy and the staff really nice. They prepare a unique menu each day and host social events. When we visited they had a local folk band playing live music. Its a really authentic place and is definitely worth a visit.

Super nice experience

A gem of a place.
In a super touristy town, finding a simple and grassroots place like this was wonderful.
They have one starter, one soup, one main and one dessert per day.
Food is simple and a a homemade feel.
The place is in a basement and also hosts game night, movie night, poetry readings, etc.
They have a free clothes rack and free soup for those who can’t afford them.
Very cool spot.
Cash only.

Great place to meet like-minded people

Out of curiosity, I checked out this alternative space. I was pleased and had an inspiring exchange with the leaders of a workshop on food saving. At the side, I also had a tasty mixed plate of food. Would I have stayed longer in town, I would have gone back for sure.

Pros: Friendly staff, Cosy atmosphere, Tasty food

Whole experience and a must-visit

What a distinctive experience! It was as if we were transported into a cozy cavern brimming with delightful surprises, from the delectably simple fare to the thought-provoking short films sparking discussions on social, environmental, and political matters. Our time there was truly memorable. Not only was the food both delicious and affordable, but the staff were incredibly warm and welcoming. I'm already eagerly anticipating my next visit!

The last supper

After having heard about this place, it lingered in my thoughts since my arrival. The non-hierarchical vibe was immediately apparent upon entering.

The ambiance and the diverse menu offerings were striking. Commencing with the beer soup was an experience; it emanated warmth and earthiness, although it diverged slightly from expectations. Nevertheless, it proved to be a delightful surprise.

Inquiring about a particular dish at the bar proved to be a challenge, as the description was somewhat vague. Despite this, the actual dish exceeded expectations. Instead of the anticipated toast, the bread was delicately chopped and marinated, retaining its crispness. Complemented by tapenade, orange tofu, and salad, it was a harmonious medley of flavors. Moreover, the dish showcased locally sourced vegetables, embodying freshness and nutritional value—a true steal.

In conclusion, this establishment offers exceptional value amidst the bustling cityscape, making it a standout option worth exploring.

Pros: Vibes , Staff, food

A place like no other

We didn’t make a reservation and Roberto still accommodated us with a cute table. There was a wonderful concert going on. The food was spectacular. Bangladesh night, the most delicious tofu curry I’ve had and braised cabbage with spinach was great. The lentil soup and bottle of wine were amazing too. Prices are more than fair for the quality and amount. Lovely ambiance, cash only. Kindness and openness define it.

Pros: Ambiance, Curry, Wine
