Pricey, decent food, poor seating - Edit
Seating was limited and outside in the hear. Food was rather pricey for chinese standards.

Located next to Starbucks. It took us a little while to find because it’s small and tucked away. There isn’t indoor seating, just some rather uncomfortable outdoor blocks. I got the risotto which I thought was pretty good. Was hearty and hit the spot. My boyfriend got what was supposed to be a “chicken” style warp. Inside was some very sad falafel and a mountain of spicy lettuce. I’d give that a one star but my risotto and the variety of options pushed it to 3.5. Worth a visit but nothing to write home about😄

DELICIOUS!! - Edit
I brought my friend here since her stomach has been hurting and she really liked it - now we have a new lunch spot on our shared roster! Carrot&Cleaver has become one of my “definitely a safe choice” spots to get food from when I don’t know what I want to eat, my second default next to just yogurt.
Read moreI love this Sichuan burger! It is my favorite thing to order, I just wish they had sweet potato fries to go with them. It’s too bad it was featured on Nomfluence Burger month this year!

Great cafe with small outdoor seating - Edit
Excellent options and clearly marked large digital menu and ordering kiosk. The waitress was super friendly and knowledgeable, very good English to help us find allergen free options.

Cons: Two smaller, but cute outdoor seating areas

You visit only once … - Edit
We came late and ordered some 10 dishes to taste broad variety of food. None was tasty and worth ordering again. Some were very spicy making it very difficult for more sensitive family members inc kids. I regret to say that we unanimously concluded not to come again even though it was very conviniently located

Nearly perfect - Edit
Had one meal. Helpful waitress, easily ordered, quickly served fresh and delicious meal, eaten in their tiny comfy little cabin.
Read moreThe portion could be bigger. A bit expensive, as everything in this high-end mall/residential complex in a high-end-stuff-geared street.
Pros: Tasty, Many recipes, Menu in English
Cons: A bit expensive (or too small of a portion)

Acceptable for a snack or quick meal - Edit
I’ve had mixed experiences after visiting Carrot and Cleaver 3 times. Once a cake had a bit of plastic in it. But the food is generally good and healthy. The staff is very friendly and makes you feel welcome! There are some outdoor tables to sit at, which they’ve enclosed with heaters for the winter.

Great little take away salad bar - Edit
We ordered some wraps from here which were quite tasty and the portion size was so big, we could only finish about half! It was quite easy to place the order with their interactive menu.

Strongly recommend - Edit
I loved this place! So many choices, a bilingual menu and the lady who runs it came out to talk to us and give us some recommendations. There were so many choices and all the food was delicious - especially the desert.

Great lunch spot in Shanghai. The staff are super friendly and it’s easy to order using the touch screen (you don’t need to know any Chinese).

Where have you been all my life - Edit
Was introduced to this place by a friend… the food definitely lived up to his hype. While the restaurant itself is little more than a storefront, the options are huge and service efficient. I had the spicy “meat” wrap, which was very tasty but also healthy. I’ll plan to come back.

Don’t let the funky marketing and images throw you off (if it would). This is a seriously delicious place to eat. I have taken Omni friends there and they all like it. Delicious and filling food. 100% vegan.

It’s a sensation feeling, that makes me feel real good. Most all vegans do it.

Disappointing - Edit
I finally tried Carrot & Cleaver on Friday, only because Pure & Whole was closed. A young waitress helped me with the digital menu, I ordered the cauliflower cheese pita and paid. What I was served was the kimchi pita, when I asked the waitress she went to check with the kitchen staff & came back to tell me they don't have the cauliflower so replaced it with the kimchi! It's such a bad way to do business, other restaurants I frequent grey out items that aren't available, but to let you pay for it & serve you something you wouldn't have ordered is ridiculous. The one plus was a free sample of Oatly ice cream.

Cons: Expensive, Ordering system needs refining.

This actually happened to me at least twice (getting the kimchi wrap instead of cauliflower cheese pita). Both times I had already left and felt confused but didn’t do anything about it. The kimchi item was actually 10RMB less so this sort of substitution definitely was not fair.
Read moreThat said, it is hard to train staff and overall the staff ability have been improving in recent months. I think they are solid and they learn lessons. This is a boutique place. And the food is made fresh to order. I would recommend giving them another try despite the annoyance of the swapped item with no communication.

I actually did try them again today, this time they had the cauliflower pita & the chef helped me order as the menu was not set up for half price Mondays. The sandwich was good but I wouldn't pay full price for it.

Interesting. I was there within the past hour and everything was automatically showing as half price for me. You’ve had some really bad luck with this item :)
