Great for light lunch - Edit
We had a late lunch here the afternoon of October 12, 2024. Counter service was friendly and efficient. The tofu sandwich, the focaccia sandwich with grilled vegetables, the savory pastry stuffed with mock beef and the pumpkin latte are all delicious. It's a casual place with a convenient location just off of Saint Denis.

Cute with caveats - Edit
I liked this place for the most part and would give it a second try but my experience was a bit of a mixed bag. I got a tofu scramble breakfast sandwich and enjoyed the food. The sandwich was very simple, just tofu scramble on bread with some mayo. There was a leaf of lettuce and a slice of tomato on each half as well but honestly I wish there wasn’t because they put the sandwich in the panini press and warm, wilting lettuce is not delicious. Still, the bread was *fantastic* and the scramble was tasty. It was good, clean, simple food and it was served fast.
Read moreThis would be a four star review except for one weird thing, which was the music they were playing. It did not seem like the place to be playing Christian contemporary music but a lot of the songs were about Jesus. As someone who isn’t of that religion I find this off-putting. If it were a place that made its religion known from the go, I would’ve minded less because at least they’re honest… but it was really weird to sit in a kind of hippie-seeming cafe that advertises open mics and other programming for the community and have to listen to music about Jesus’s blood and dying for people’s sins and all that. It made me finish my sandwich and not linger, which is too bad because I might’ve gotten a pastry if I had wanted to stick around, since I had some time to kill.
I would go back. It could be an employee picked the music and that’s not usually the vibe. But it made it hard to leave the full four stars I would’ve given Cafe Tuyo based on my sandwich alone. If my next visit improves I will update this review.

Nice and friendly cafe. They didn't have many GF options despite what the listing indicates. Otherwise, worth checking out.

Small coffee shop where I like to stop in the afternoon for a tea or a latte. The vegan options could be more obvious.

Maybe I got there too late? - Edit
I’m visiting from New Jersey and was super excited to come here - but was disappointed. There were only 2 baked goods left - a muffin of some sort and banana bread. I got the muffin and it was okay. I also got a latte, which was good, but nothing to write home about.

cozy vegan cafe - Edit
Close to the Mount Royal subway station, so very easy access, friendly staff and nice options. Nice chai/coffee mix options.
Read moreA downside is they usually do one morning batch of goodies and when they’re gone they’re gone for the rest of the day. So depending on what you’re looking for, you might need to be there early on when it opens to guarantee some (and they might sell you limited quantities as well).
Pros: close to the subway, fairly priced
Cons: no second batches

Amazing croissants and cakes - Edit
We stayed in Montreal for two days and visited Cafe Tuyo three times because we just liked it so much! We tried most of the things on the menu and liked everything, especially the croissants and small cakes. The staff was very friendly and the service was fast and efficient even though the place was quite busy. Highly recommended for everyone looking for a quick and delicious breakfast/lunch/snack!

I've come here many times and it's always been a pleasant experience. They offer a good variety of desserts and sandwiches (they even have Jamaican patties!) in a nice cozy atmosphere. Great spot for a quick bite or for students who want to sit there for hours.

Delicious food - Edit
My husband and I had a great smoothie with parsley and mango, a nice hot chocolate. For food, we started with a croissant which was very nice and flaky. Then we had a baguette sandwich with an excellent crust and tasty filling. And we also shared a bagel which was freshly made for us. The service was very friendly and excellent. The setting is very cozy. It feels like an old school Vegan locals spot. Definitely recommend!
