Rule Britannia

I’ll start with a much needed shoutout to Irfan, the restaurant manager of this fine establishment. This absolute gentleman was so accommodating to my requests and questions prior to my arrival, and he was on hand during the meal to ensure that all my needs were catered for and, my, how they were! In fact, the whole hospitality team, from the servers to the floor managers were exceptional. Also, while on the subject of the waitstaff, their uniforms were a pleasure to behold. Bedecked in Union Jack waistcoats, the sight of which usually indicates you’ve ended up in the very wrong place in the UK, here it added a sense of playfulness to the occasion.
Now to really important part: the food. I was forewarned that options would be limited, but I was more than pleasantly surprised to find a lot more than I bargained for, and it was all wonderfully well done; the fragrant samosas and frankly addictive chips were the main recipients of my affection. They, however, played a distant second fiddle to the plated dishes that were offered up thanks to aforementioned liaison. All four were stunning. The gnocchi with the pumpkin velouté was decent, the crispy tofu with ginger & ginger sauce was light yet satisfying, the baked zucchini & eggplant was hearty and had such depth of flavour, and the asparagus & pine nut croustillant - a creation that was alien to me - was an elegant, elevated (and delicious) sausage roll.
You won’t be shocked to hear that I would unequivocally recommend this brunch, and you’ll be even less astounded to learn that I will be back.
