So…adorable restaurant. It’s bright, cheery and decorated well.
We went because they have both a Tofu Scramble AND a Vegan Breakfast Burrito. The server was fabulous; I ordered the burrito and asked if the tofu scramble was vegan, because it was listed under the egg scrambles, so I wanted to make sure there wasn’t egg in it… she said no, but she wanted to double check that the red and green chili that came on both vegan meals was actually vegan.
It is not. Both contain chicken broth.
So the vegan breakfast burrito is NOT vegan. The GM came out to talk to us (we didn’t ask for him), but the server was super upset about it, so he came. My husband explained that when you advertise something as vegan, it better be vegan, because if someone is eating there for months and finds out later that their chili isn’t vegan… there’s gonna be a legal problem.
I just ordered without chili.
It was absolutely SWIMMING in grease. Our tortillas were translucent. It was not good.
It was free because it came out late and because of the mixup with the vegan thing, but I wasn’t super happy with the GM… he just said “I’m not a vegan, so I don’t understand all of this, but I think we’re just going to take it off the menu. No one orders it anyway”. He wasn’t apologetic, just seemed irritated that he was expected to cater to a diet he wasn’t affiliated with.
There wasn’t any intention given to correct the problem, so I guess I won’t go back.
