Grey Dahl?!?

My experience with Blue Taj really wasn’t good:

- It’s very expensive, especially for the portion sizes.
- There aren’t very many vegan options. Only two starters and the onion bhaji wasn’t available when I went.
- I waited more than 10 minutes longer than my collection time, despite being the only customer.
- The paper carrier bag broke as I stepped out the door. Normally I’d praise environmental efforts but the cartons were non-recyclable which is unusual.
- The food was really not good. The Dahl makhani was the strangest thing I’ve eaten in a long time. It was a blueish grey and tasted like a salty rice pudding rather than anything resembling a Dahl and the pilau rice was undercooked and totally flavourless.

Hi Vegan_sheep
thank you for trying our vegan dishes. I am really sorry to hear about your experience. Having now spoken to the team I can confirm that the dishes were cooked following the right instruction and charges were made as displayed in our menu.
- Sorry about the bag, on a rainy day I understand you had to rush to the car and given the quantity of the food (our portions are generation as you can see in the photos), weather condition the bag was damaged.
-A team member did offer to replace it but you are right the less packaging we use its better for the environment.
-Secondly the packing material we use are made from recycled products and it can be recycled, the markings are availed on the rear of the containers.
- These containers are leak proof, temper proof and keeps food warm for long duration of time and most importantly you can reuse them at home.
- In regards to the waiting time I am really sorry you had wait for 10 minutes. Our usual cooking time is roughly 15 minutes. The chefs have to follow the right procedure hence we instruct collection time of 20 minutes and delivery between 30-40 minutes.
- Dal makhani, is off white. I agree it could have used a touch of turmeric and I have asked the chef to make changes, rest assured you were not served under cooked daal.
- Same again for pilau rice. We use premium long grain basmati rice this is again evident in the photo. The pilau rice wasn't under cooked, but I can see the confusion. The rice is cooked using red and yellow food colour, vegan ghee and variety of ground spices. All these do add shuttle flavour but it is again not as it would be with a fried or mushroom fried rice. I assume the red colour looks over cooked, yellow right colour and white under cooked. I can assure you the rice was cooked to the right level.
However, I would appreciate if you could reach out to us by directly contacting us.

Yours Sincerely,
Blue Taj Indian Restaurant,
Blrockley
P.S: We are adding new vegan dishes such as Desi Vegan Burger, Mushroom Vegan Wrap to our menu.
