Thankfully, a fully vegan place in Hull. Mostly sour doh bread items, wraps and cakes and pastries but a couple of salads too. We Loved the food and service was good

Out of this world! Run, don’t walk! - Edit
We have been staying right next to Barley’s this week so have been able to sample most of the menu and not one thing has disappointed!
Read moreThey have a real talent making vegan eggs. I’m hoping they might share their recipe! We’ve had the folded eggs on sourdough with roasted tomatoes and the classic egg mayo sandwich faithfully spread on good old white bread! If I’d had my eyes shut I wouldn’t have been able to tell the difference with real egg mayo! The folded eggs were soft and buttery - utterly delicious!
We also had the all day breakfast burrito and pastrami melt - again both were beautifully balanced. The only note is that the rice overpowered a bit in the burrito - more sausage crumbles and sauce would have made it more unctuous. That’s a small note though. Very flavourful.
We’ve also had the chick’n Caesar wrap and lamb kofta bowl and herby sausage rolls. Again absolutely jam packed with flavour especially the sausage rolls. Small but the absolute star of the show. I’d love to know the sausage recipe.
We also had the chocolate and Biscoff brownies which were gooey and chocolatey delights.
The iced vanilla matcha latte has also converted me to matcha. Smooth, creamy and earthy. Highly recommend.
We’ve two days left in the area so going to try the tuna melt and a few other bits before we go.
Cute little deli offering as well. Purchased a couple of fab looking chilli crisp oils. Will also grab one of their homemade vegan turkey crowns as well to try.
10/10 Barley - the love and thought you put into your space and food is obvious. I’m just gutted you’re not in Newcastle!
Pros: Skill making vegan eggs, Making matcha delicious not muddy, The absolute best sausage roll
Cons: Burrito needs more sausage and queso

Love the new place - Edit
Our first visit since Barleys moved to new, bigger premises. Excellent decor, bright and airy.
Read moreWe ordered no-lamb koftas and folded eggs on sourdough with extra hash browns and avocado. The food was excellent with delicious flavour combinations.
We followed this with cheesecake and and vanilla and hazelnut pasty crown. Yum yum.
Service was excellent with a warm welcome back from the owner.

Awesome - Edit
Amazing food all done from scratch! They recently relocated to a bigger premises on the same street and it's stepped up from being a very nice deli/sandwich/coffee spot, into being more of a bistro/restaurant feel

So good! - Edit
The sourdough bread was amazing, the hot pastrami melt was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had! And the vanilla crown was to die for! My Omni friend also said the brownie was the best fudgiest brownie she'd ever had!

Fantastic food, relaxed atmosphere - Edit
We visited for the first time over the bank holiday and all had the burger specials, which were absolutely gorgeous. Home made seitan and so tasty - easily the best I’ve had for a long while. Really good cake and coffee, and no problem when I asked if my very fussy 6 year old could eat a peanut butter sandwich I’d brought along. Would go back in a heartbeat!

Super friendly helpful staff who understands allergens. My partner had the All Day Breakfast Burrito (which he said was the best he had tasted!) and I had Chilli Loaded Nachos. Highly recommend a visit here.

I've always loved Barley's, but having them cater my party has elevated them to God-tier. I had friends amazed there was no meat. Everything tasted amazing and, for what I paid, it was superb value.

I was so happy to see that Barleys had opened in Hull city centre as I feel there is a lack of vegan food to go in Hull. I went for the breakfast burrito and the brownies and they were both delicious

I’d been meaning to go here since it opened and only went recently. Safe to say, it was worth the wait. The atmosphere and food were excellent. I had the roast dinner. I’d suggest booking in advance as it’s not a massive place but if you can get in, you’re in for a treat!
