So delicious, a true gem - Edit
I ate here for dinner (around 18.30), and Google shows they seem to be open for a dinner service as well. The food was delicious, a series of 6 homemade pickles and then a hearty bowl of ramen, with a shot of homemade apple cider vinegar to cut through the broth. I had the miso ramen which was beautiful, but they had some more adventurous offerings also and had this not been my last day in there area I would have easily returned. Dining is intimate but casual with bar seats where you can watch your dish assembled and they have a fully English menu. I had some lovely conversations, they are so kind and lovely. Truly was a wonderful dining experience i can't recommend enough.

Amazing overall experience - Edit
Between the very reasonable price, decent selection of dishes, amazing food and extremely welcoming staff, this is a place that deserves a try. They were the perfect picture of what hospitality is and watching the chef taking extreme care with the presentation of each individual piece and dish just made it all the better. Give them a go, it is worth it. I'd recommend the black sesame! Oh, by the way, no queue and quite calm and relaxing atmosphere, to get away from the hub hub of all the tourists!

Amazing. Must try in Kyoto. - Edit
I implore anyone in Kyoto to give this place a try. Amazing food, friendly owners. Best meal we had in Japan, even according to my non vegan partner.
Read moreEach meal comes with a set of 6 small appetizers, which were great. And a small glass of homemade apple cider vinegar drink, which was fantastic. And the main event, the ramen, hands down best I've ever had. The owners clearly put a lot of care and love into the meals, and it shows.
Pros: Fantastic food, Great staff, Reasonably priced

It’s small and only open for lunch but we luckily got counter seats and a fantastic meal on a Saturday - along with a fun conversation with host Aya-san and a few friendly words with his father, the expert ramen chef.
Read moreThe lunch set includes 6 tasty appetizers, tea, healthy apple cider vinegar drink and a choice of ramen noodles and sauces. We tried the spicy ramen with sesame and the miso noodles. Definitely inventive and tasty. There are lots of drink options on the menu, from sake to amazake to soy milk or fruit syrups.

If you’re vegan or vegetarian and anywhere near Nijo Castle, Ayasai Vegan Restaurant is absolutely worth the short walk.
Read moreI had the tomato-based ramen, while my partner chose the miso version. Both were delicious—though I’ll admit, my partner’s broth was a touch more flavoursome than mine! The six small appetisers that came with the meal were equally delightful.
The owner, Aya, is a wonderful host—friendly, passionate, and clearly dedicated to serving healthy, high-quality food.
Highly recommended!

So good ! - Edit
Full vegan ramen restaurant. It's cheap : 1600 ¥ for a set with 6 apetizers, ice green tea and cider vinegar shot ramen of your choice. I picked 3 miso mixed and my husband saké one. It was really good. The goal of the owner is to propose nutritious, with no additive food and his father is the cook.

Easily one of the best restaurants we visited in Japan! It’s a small family run place with a very friendly owner, who was open to talk and spoke English as well. The food and drinks were all vegan, low on calories, delicious and every meal included a free appetizer plate.

The BEST ramen - Edit
Let's start with the food. The ramen was amazing and the appetisers we received as part of the set were phenomenal. The vibe was absolutely on point. The service was so friendly, they had an English menu and the English of the staff was more than good enough to tell us about the food we were eating and to discuss the finer points of beginner sake vocabulary.
Read moreI only wish they were open for dinner. I'm not normally a day drinker, and while I was very pleased to knock back one and a half glasses of sake after a delicious lunch, I might be willing to drink a bit more in the evening, if they were open.
Pros: Amazing food, Friendly service, Great vibe
Cons: Not open for dinner

Excellent experience - Edit
The food and service were absolutely fantastic. Had a nice chat with the owners while enjoying a very tasty black pepper sesame ramen. I love that they serve several small veggie dishes and a vinegar drink before the ramen.
Read moreAlso, I love that the soup is very light, not oily, and that they dont use any artificial colourings, flavours, etc.
It's a very unique concept.
I'll be back for the matcha ramen!
They are planning on adding cold noodles during summertime as well.

Great experience.

Aya-san is extremely friendly and even taught us some Japanese words in the Kansai dialect.
