Not the best… - Edit
Not worth the hype, or price, and sadly the service was not “Michelin” worthy what so ever. The “toasts” were lackluster flavors on top of bread that felt like it from my grocery store. Entrees were just ok, and the one pasta dish we actually wanted we never even got. Not sure if we were forgotten but 2 hours later we were not hungry for it anymore. Will not be coming back sorry.

Attended a pop-up dinner featuring dishes inspired by Nisha Vora’s new cookbook. Vibe was perfect for date night and the staff was lovely. Food was very quick to arrive and each dish was a masterpiece of flavours.

Disappointed for the price - Edit
I know it’s New York City and I was fully prepared to pay the price, but I was also expecting outstanding food. I had a toast with artichoke salad and tiny potato chips on top. That was delicious, but it was also $22 for toast. I also had a hen of the woods dish that was ok, nothing crazy, no big flavors. My non-alcoholic drink was hot water with lots of lemon, Ginger and a splash of agave- very acidic, my teeth hurt and for $18- 😩. The worst part was the lava cake, which supposedly was one of the best desserts ever and it takes half an hour to prepare, so you order it in advance. Well, it was dry and the warm chocolate inside didn’t make up for it as it wasn’t enough. The mushroom ice cream would have helped, but it wasn’t enough either and the half banana didn’t add anything to the dish. The bartender was great, though. Very nice guy.

Loved the ambiance here! It’s small plates style and felt a bit pricey for the amount of food, but I did really enjoy the meal. Highlights for me were the risotto and the mushrooms. Probably would skip the celery root pasta on a future visit.

Read moreNow the food... It wasn't bad by any stretch of the imagination, but it was far from what I have come to expect from this price point. Standard dishes, nothing impressive aside from the plating. For about 1/2 the price, I would be a return customer. For this price you would be much better visiting one of Chef Guy Vaknin's restraunts in NYC.

We had the Xmas special. 5 course meal. Unbalanced meals (ex: way too much vinegar in the salad), lacks of creativity (plain salad, toast with hummus and beets). too pricey for what it is. Friendly but insufficient service. Great vibe & beautiful venue.

My husband and I are visiting NYC for the holidays and made a reservation (reservations are a must!) at Avant Garden for Friday night dinner. What a truly enchanting experience! From the beautiful wooden door topped with tree branches that looks like an entrance to Narnia to the gorgeously decorated interior to the creative and delicious food, our evening was just perfect.
Read moreWe ordered a bottle of wine to share (delicious!) and 5 menu items to share: the Baby gem Caesar, the avocado, the artichoke toast, the spaghetti carbonara and the paella. Dishes are all tapas sized. We finished by sharing a homemade chocolate lava cake. Our favorites were the spaghetti carbonara, the Caesar and the toast.
The service was good and the food absolutely delicious. The pace of the meal was a little too fast for us in the beginning . . . we were there to relax and enjoy. However, we mentioned it to the waiter and they slowed it down for us.
This is definitely a higher-end place, in both what they offer and the price tag attached. However, if you're looking for amazing vegan food and a beautiful evening, I highly recommend making a reservation.

I came here with a group of clients. It’s a very interestingly decorated place. Very unique. I would say that it was very warm and comfortable. The people were very friendly. We opted not to order and just leave it up to the waitress to serve us whatever she thought was best. She nailed it. We had a really good meal

I did a four course solo dining experience and had the best night. Beautiful setting, friendly and kind wait staff, and fabulous food. The mushroom bruschetta was incredible and chocolate lava cake dessert was ridiculously good. One of my favorite meals I’ve ever had.

This was my second time here and I came back for the baby gem salad! It’s so nice to get a classic Cesar salad as a vegan. The spaghetti/carbonara dish is also another thing that is hard to veganize and they did it so well. It is upscale, hidden away, and atmospheric. Definitely recommend for an intimate date night or a birthday dinner.

The best natural vegan food I’ve ever tried - Edit
Absolutely amazing and delicious food. What distinguishes this restaurant from others, aside from the cozy and dim atmosphere, is the fact that all the dishes are made from rather “simple” ingredients. There were no faux meats used, but rather very intriguing takes on naturally vegan foods. The roasted cauliflower was so buttery, my taste buds were in heaven. The waitress was very kind and explained everything from the menu in detail.

The ambience and vibe of the place is very cool and the staff are friendly and attentive. We were advised to pick a few dishes each in our group of three and share, which I highly recommend as everything was completely delicious and wonderful! Particularly recommend the desserts, which are spectacular. Definitely had a unique and top-tier dining experience, which I won't forget any time soon.

The decor is great! The staff are super friendly and helpful! They are mindful of allergies and are willing to make adjustments for those that have allergies. There were a couple of dishes that weren’t able to be adjusted, but out of like 15 or so dishes only two weren’t able to be adjusted.
