Little shop, unfortunately the vegan options aren't labeled on the menu. But you can ask the staff which meals are vegan and which aren't. Had a falafel take-away wrap. The filling was very nice and was served in a rather thick wrap which was grilled before they handed it over to me. The grilled wrap and filling were a great combination to eat!

The staff is really nice and helpful. The food is fresh, and they are quick in preparing. They have a nice open kitchen where you can see through the big window how they prepare the food.

Food was fresh and tasty. A solid option for vegans. This location did not have a vegan mezzo plate but they were very happy to modify and make me one! The portion was generous; I took some of the hummus and pita as leftovers.
Read moreI especially recommend the makdous and the beet hummus. Also their house made lemonade with pomegranate and basil.
This location is more suited to take away or dining on the go in one of their upstairs dining areas. Those are small, only about 10 tables or so between them.

The service was kind and the food was super delicious! For the falafel wrap it was the perfect amount of sauce compared to the filling!! I prefer the moussaka wrap, it is so juicy!

Ordered myself a mussaka pita and added falafel, also added a spicy sauce. It was really good and creamy and moist and everything I ever wanted in a wrap. I walked to the square to eat in a bench under the warm sun, fab!

It's disappointing that none of the dishes there have vegan declarations on site. And even on their website they only have them for the main restaurant, not this one. So you'll have to ask. And on the current menu, only two out of four main options (falafel, moussaka) might be vegan.

Za Zaa has a few restaurants in Basel now and the food is good in all of them but the main restaurant is definitely much better. This one has even less vegan options than the mixed one.
