Excellent value

As of January 20, 2026, Yod seems to have dropped the $15 lunch that I, and several commenters below, appreciated so much. It now has an all-day offer that is slightly more expensive, but even better value. Instead of one dish with rice or noodles at $15, the offer is two dishes, such as rice and curry plus spring roll, fried tofu and stir fry or a salad. There are various permutations and choices, starting at $19.90 for the complete meal, with options to add a take-home dish for a total $25. I liked being able to grab a quality meal at $15, but this is a much fuller meal and really good value.

Delicious vegan Thai restaurant 🩷

This place offers big portions of super tasty vegan thai food. We tried the green curry, bamboo stir fried, tom yum soup and curry puffs. It was so nice we came back to have a second meal there in a week.
Totally recommended!

Great value

Generous portions, great value and yummy food. Five minute walk from central station so its super convenient.

Pad Thai, crispy tofu and the pineapple fried rice were so good.

Went here too many times during our stay in Sydney. 😳

🌱 Yod Thai – A Vegan Gem in Sydney’s CBD

Yod Thai is a complete haven for plant-based diners. Conveniently located in the heart of Sydney’s CBD, it’s a perfect spot for city workers to grab a satisfying lunch during their break.
Most of the dishes we ordered were from the $15 happy hour lunch menu, and the portions were impressively generous—definitely great value for money. This restaurant is the only plant-based Thai restaurant that serves authentic Thai dishes you would never see at a regular Thai vegan restaurant.

I visited with a non-vegan friend, and we’re both keen to return and explore more of the menu. We started with the curry puffs, which made for a delightful entrée—crispy, flavorful, and satisfying. The Lard Na and Pad Si-Ew were packed with veggies and tofu, with a particularly hefty dose of carrots. If you're a carrot fan, you're in for a treat!

The Massaman curry was rich and aromatic, though it packs a spicy punch that might be a bit much for those with a low spice tolerance.

The standout for me? Hands down, the Thai soy milk tea. It was incredibly refreshing and left me already looking forward to my next visit just to have it again.

Came back with family and their highlight was the Thai Fried Rice as it was very flavourful. I quite enjoyed the spring rolls as it has mushrooms and glass noodles.

Fine.

A decent lunch place. Nothing special really. It's excellent value as the portions were generous. Quite spicy, and spice over flavourful in my opinion. The best thing we had was a cold packet of crispy tofu we bought off the counter as an appetizer. I wouldn't visit again.

Pros: Portion Size

Cons: Presentation

Let down

Was so excited to come here after hearing it had gone fully vegan and seeing stuff on the menu I had never heard of before.
Started off well with the delicious spicy tofu cake which had the perfect level of spice (just a kick, not too much).
The pad si ew had a lovely wok hei and lots of different types of fake meat.
Then came the ga prao (stirfried eggplant, mushroom, tofu, veg in Thai basil sauce). So NOTHING in the description mentions spice, and the lady taking our order did not ask what level of spice we would like. It was WAYY too spicy, the horrible birdseye chilli that adds no flavour just fresh heat. The waitress was very apologetic and said they should have asked us instead of assuming we would be ok with MEDIUM heat (it's annoying they didn't bother, the restaurant isn't that big that they would have to walk far). No offer of any compensation or for the dish to be re-made, even though we could barely eat it. To top it off we bought a box of dried bananas, and came home to realise it had a week left til use by.

Cons: ga prao too spicy, no mention in menu of spice

The most interesting Thai menu I have seen in Australia

Wow. I love the food in Thailand and find that often menus overseas are too westernised and lack variety. This menu is superb, the main problem was trying to choose what to have as it all looked incredible.
I ended up choosing the lotus root and ginger salad. The large size is for about three people so I chose the small one.
They sell Asahi beer for $8.90. Most meals are around the $20 mark.
Extremely close to central station and don't close during the day so you can eat anytime.
$15 lunch specials available

New favourite

Yes! Thank you for opening and being 100% vegan. Finally got to try this new vegan place with a great location around Haymarket.
Lunch menu is super affordable 15$ and a big portion. They also have premade dishes for takeout and only 10$
The menu is quite big featuring all Thai must try dishes.
Will be back to try everything 😂. The red curry was a 10/10. nice rich Flavour with lots of veggies and tofu plus mock meat. Definitely great.
Hope the other dishes will be as good but they nailed this classic dish and I have tried a lot of Thai places.

Update: tried new dishes as well
Red curry is best. Jungle curry disappointed me because it seemed like a mushroom broth, crispy soy rice is really small, take out dishes delicious
Really depends what you order but fully vegan and good prices so yes going back a lot

Best Tom Kha ever

We went to Yod last night on our visit to Sydney to see the Book of Mormon, great show btw. We had the Ref curry and the Tom Kha. Both were excellent. Though the red curry sauce was more soup like in it’s consistency, the flavour was great. The Tom Kha was THE best I’ve ever had. It is often hard to get a vegan Tom Kha. The flavour was beautiful with hints of lemongrass and a slightly Smokey like essence. We are here for a few days and will definitely go back. I wish I had enough time or big enough stomach to try the whole menu.

Pros: Tom Kha, Red curry, Great service

Vegan Thai food

Great to see a fully vegan place in the area. Close to central station but not quite close enough for a quick grab before the train. Would be a perfect dining option before a show at capital theatre. Great value takeaways on table at front - $10, perfect quick meal to grab and since it is all vegan don’t have to worry too much about what you get. We need to support vegan businesses, we have lost too many in Sydney lately.

All your Thai favourites AND vegan. Yay!

We ate here twice on recent a visit to Sydney. Great lunch prices, $15 for main dish. Dinner prices aren't too much more. Fried spring rolls are freshly made with yummy wood ear mushroom, carrots and cabbage. Everything we tried was very tasty, from the Laksa, the Pad See Ew, red curry, Ga Prao (eggplant, tofu in Thai basil sauce). The Ga Prao was our favourite. Each dish has a good variety of fresh veggies in addition to the tofu. If you like anything truly spicy you'll need to ask for more heat. We found the regular level of spice not so hot.

Pros: Everything in the menu is vegan, Fresh ingredients and spot on Thai flavors, Reasonable prices

Vegan Thai in Thaitown!

Checked Happy Cow and was excited to find a new vegan Thai near work.
I had a veg noodle soup, which had varied mock meats. Good food - I am going to have to eat my way through the menu. You don't often find vegan Som Tum (papaya salad), Larb (meat salad), or Massaman curry, in Sydney. Yod has all of that and more.
