Excellent lunch spot - Edit
Read moreI wish I had known about this place earlier: a fully vegan Thai restaurant in a part of town with few vegan options. I have been twice now, both times for the $15 lunch, and both (green curry with rice and chilli basil stir fry with rice) were excellent, and good-size portions. I intend to work my way through the dozen dishes on offer. Will definitely be back every time I am in the area.
Pros: Great value $15 lunch, , friendly atmosphere

Let down - Edit
Was so excited to come here after hearing it had gone fully vegan and seeing stuff on the menu I had never heard of before.
Read moreStarted off well with the delicious spicy tofu cake which had the perfect level of spice (just a kick, not too much).
The pad si ew had a lovely wok hei and lots of different types of fake meat.
Then came the ga prao (stirfried eggplant, mushroom, tofu, veg in Thai basil sauce). So NOTHING in the description mentions spice, and the lady taking our order did not ask what level of spice we would like. It was WAYY too spicy, the horrible birdseye chilli that adds no flavour just fresh heat. The waitress was very apologetic and said they should have asked us instead of assuming we would be ok with MEDIUM heat (it's annoying they didn't bother, the restaurant isn't that big that they would have to walk far). No offer of any compensation or for the dish to be re-made, even though we could barely eat it. To top it off we bought a box of dried bananas, and came home to realise it had a week left til use by.
Cons: ga prao too spicy, no mention in menu of spice

🌱 Yod Thai – A Vegan Gem in Sydney’s CBD - Edit
Yod Thai is a complete haven for plant-based diners. Conveniently located in the heart of Sydney’s CBD, it’s a perfect spot for city workers to grab a satisfying lunch during their break.
Read moreMost of the dishes we ordered were from the $15 happy hour lunch menu, and the portions were impressively generous—definitely great value for money. This restaurant is the only plant-based Thai restaurant that serves authentic Thai dishes you would never see at a regular Thai vegan restaurant.
I visited with a non-vegan friend, and we’re both keen to return and explore more of the menu. We started with the curry puffs, which made for a delightful entrée—crispy, flavorful, and satisfying. The Lard Na and Pad Si-Ew were packed with veggies and tofu, with a particularly hefty dose of carrots. If you're a carrot fan, you're in for a treat!
The Massaman curry was rich and aromatic, though it packs a spicy punch that might be a bit much for those with a low spice tolerance.
The standout for me? Hands down, the Thai soy milk tea. It was incredibly refreshing and left me already looking forward to my next visit just to have it again.

The most interesting Thai menu I have seen in Australia - Edit
Wow. I love the food in Thailand and find that often menus overseas are too westernised and lack variety. This menu is superb, the main problem was trying to choose what to have as it all looked incredible.
Read moreI ended up choosing the lotus root and ginger salad. The large size is for about three people so I chose the small one.
They sell Asahi beer for $8.90. Most meals are around the $20 mark.
Extremely close to central station and don't close during the day so you can eat anytime.
$15 lunch specials available

Yes! Thank you for opening and being 100% vegan. Finally got to try this new vegan place with a great location around Haymarket.
Read moreLunch menu is super affordable 15$ and a big portion. They also have premade dishes for takeout and only 10$
The menu is quite big featuring all Thai must try dishes.
Will be back to try everything 😂. The red curry was a 10/10. nice rich Flavour with lots of veggies and tofu plus mock meat. Definitely great.
Hope the other dishes will be as good but they nailed this classic dish and I have tried a lot of Thai places.
Update: tried new dishes as well
Red curry is best. Jungle curry disappointed me because it seemed like a mushroom broth, crispy soy rice is really small, take out dishes delicious
Really depends what you order but fully vegan and good prices so yes going back a lot

Best Tom Kha ever - Edit
We went to Yod last night on our visit to Sydney to see the Book of Mormon, great show btw. We had the Ref curry and the Tom Kha. Both were excellent. Though the red curry sauce was more soup like in it’s consistency, the flavour was great. The Tom Kha was THE best I’ve ever had. It is often hard to get a vegan Tom Kha. The flavour was beautiful with hints of lemongrass and a slightly Smokey like essence. We are here for a few days and will definitely go back. I wish I had enough time or big enough stomach to try the whole menu.

Vegan Thai food - Edit
Great to see a fully vegan place in the area. Close to central station but not quite close enough for a quick grab before the train. Would be a perfect dining option before a show at capital theatre. Great value takeaways on table at front - $10, perfect quick meal to grab and since it is all vegan don’t have to worry too much about what you get. We need to support vegan businesses, we have lost too many in Sydney lately.

All your Thai favourites AND vegan. Yay! - Edit
We ate here twice on recent a visit to Sydney. Great lunch prices, $15 for main dish. Dinner prices aren't too much more. Fried spring rolls are freshly made with yummy wood ear mushroom, carrots and cabbage. Everything we tried was very tasty, from the Laksa, the Pad See Ew, red curry, Ga Prao (eggplant, tofu in Thai basil sauce). The Ga Prao was our favourite. Each dish has a good variety of fresh veggies in addition to the tofu. If you like anything truly spicy you'll need to ask for more heat. We found the regular level of spice not so hot.

Vegan Thai in Thaitown! - Edit
Checked Happy Cow and was excited to find a new vegan Thai near work.
Read moreI had a veg noodle soup, which had varied mock meats. Good food - I am going to have to eat my way through the menu. You don't often find vegan Som Tum (papaya salad), Larb (meat salad), or Massaman curry, in Sydney. Yod has all of that and more.

Honestly, so impressed - an absolute gem!
Read moreNot only is everything vegan, but the food is absolutely exploding with flavour. Jungle curry was one to remember 🤩
Their mock meats and tofu are spot on, the spice is right (be prepared for authentic Thai spice), the portions are generous, and on top of all the rest, they are genuine, authentic, and lovely people.
Thank you so much.

I’ll be back! - Edit
I really liked the laksa and red curry. Their curries are all homemade and you can taste the difference. I love that they switched it to a fully vegan menu. The Pad Thai was better than average as I find it’s either a hit or miss (usually miss) at most places. I wish I had room for dessert! Their portion sizes are decent/big and match their price.
