Average food for high prices, awful service

First of all, we were told we could only choose from two tables close to the entrance, although the whole inner part of the venue was empty during our visit. The table was way too tiny. The food was ok on average (pretty good pasta, average and somewhat plain eggplant and lentil balls), not worth the price at all. The drinks options were really weird: really expensive wine (3 times more per glass than normally in Rome), strange pricy (but big glasses, ok) non-alcoholic cocktails, expensive alcoholic cocktails, some herbal teas, no beer, no coffee.

The worst thing was the guy who served the food. He kept on asking if we liked the food again and again, and if I answered in a way that didn't satisfy him, he asked again waiting for praises, this was really creepy and annoying.

Cons: Overpriced, Poor drinks selection, Annoying service

How illiterate you’re, if our boys ask you just to know how it’s going it means we care people, not many times obviously, we have camera over there and we checked, only 4 times he asked you to know is everything good or not coz you people are always looking for some unnecessary fault which is completely meaningless. Vrindaa is an Ayurvedic fine dining so we don’t use any kind of toxic ingredients so you need to ask yourself first where you’re going to eat. We use only our product & it’s pricy for a reason coz we work with the quality. You guys are lucky that my boys gave you to choose between two tables, so in a fine dining restaurant you can’t expect that we will give you whole restaurant to choose, first you need to learn proper manner to talk & write both coz my boys already called me that night about you & he was absolutely right, you guys are destroying everywhere just come with irregular dress, sense, out of mind & blame a top ranking restaurant. We take care each of everyone coz that’s our responsibility but we made a mistake to host you. Please don’t come in a classy restaurant go somewhere else like yoursss….I hope you understand.

Well, if 4 times seems "only 4" to you, I wonder what would be "many" in your opinion, dozens? Honestly, once would be more than enough. "You guys are lucky that my boys gave you to choose between two tables, so in a fine dining restaurant you can’t expect that we will give you whole restaurant to choose" — so you state that since you are a "fine dining", "top ranking", and "classy" (how modest) restaurant, your guests have to tolerate table-choose-restrictions and poorer service in comparison with "ordinary" restaurants? I would expect the logic to be quite the opposite. Speaking of "proper manner to talk" — as far as I remember, I was polite during my visit and didn't say anything rude to your personnel, so what do you mean by this? And by "irregular dress", I was wearing an average casual outfit like anyone else in the restaurant, I don't remember anyone wearing a tuxedo... "You guys are destroying everywhere" — who do you mean by "you guys" here, I wonder...

Long story short, I've been to many places providing tastier, fancier vegan food, and better service than you, and I can't imagine their owner talking to guests and reacting to criticism in the way you do it here.

Strange Interaction

Unfortunately, I did not even get to try the food! When we arrived for our reservation, we were told that the kitchen was closing in 40 minutes so we needed to order everything we wanted all up front. (This was different from the online hours listed on their website.) The attitude of the owner made us feel rushed, so we said we were going to eat somewhere else, because we were not expecting to rush our night out. When we said we were not going to order (& head out), the owner became verbally combative. He said odd things and also was trying to "one-up" our veganess. Odd experience that left me in tears when I just wanted to experience a nice meal out.

Pros: Nicely Decorated

Cons: Rushed Atmosphere, Argumentative Owner, Incorrect Hours Listed on Website

It is really funny to observe how this "JamesGordone" (the account obviously belongs to Vrindaa owners) updated "his" praising review from October just several hours after you had written yours, just in order to "beat" it and do so that the latest review on the top of the page would be complimentary :)

Nice catch! Yeah if you look on Google too the reviews are so odd... Either highly praised with no issues whatsoever (possibly fake?) Or a genuine review with a scathing/threatening reply from the owner attached to it.

It's obvious, people, that you have nothing to do. I am a regular customer of Vrindaa, and this restaurant is the best.

Oh yes of course, your only review up until 12 minutes ago was of Vrindaa (long paragraph style) and then you added two quick reviews of other restaurants to make yourself more legit. It's okay if your restaurant has some negative reviews! It's weird if it doesn't honestly. No need to make fake profiles 😂

Les prestations de ce restaurant ne sont pas du tout haut de gamme contrairement à ce que est promis sur la carte vue le prix des plats #Veganuary

Cons: Qualité de la nourriture , Association des saveurs, Rapport qualité prix

Nowhere near as good as it wants to be

Unfortunately this place just didn't do it for us. Supposedly a fine dining restaurant and certainly charges as such, and so when reviewing at those standards there's much left to be desired here.

The decor is nice on the surface but the chairs felt really cheap- the padding came off the Velcro when you sat down and my seat cushion was sliding off the entire evening- you're too low and far away from the table to sit comfortably and the huge, ornate heavy plates weren't enjoyable to eat from at all and the cutlery kept sliding into the plate when you put them down.

The bathrooms are also really lacking in a place such as what Vindraa is going for. There's two doors into the single toilet, one of which obviously goes directly into the kitchen- you can hear the food being prepared seemingly right on the other side of the wall. I'm not sure if this is a used door or not, but either way feeling like it a chef could burst in any any point isn't what you want anywhere- I can't say I've ever seen anything like this before in Italy, never mind at one of the most expensive places we dined at.

We found it really funny when the breadsticks came out in what was clearly a toothbrush holder shaped like a tooth (made in china sticker still on it) but that sort of embodied the place- it's trying to be a fine dining experience but ultimately misses the mark pretty badly.

The food is decent, but honestly that's it and for near €40 a plate I was expecting a lot more. While Vindraa markets itself on 'expecting the unexpected' we found the food to be fairly bland in truth, in particular the surprise chefs dish on our secondi which was essentially a deep fried batter with a nut purree filling. We were asked to 'guess what we were eating' (which I had to decline multiple times before we were actually told what was in our dish when it came out) and it all just felt gimmicky- and that they'd started with trying to combine a load of ingredients as opposed to with the actual flavours on the resulting plate. The redcurrants on the dish were really the only thing on there with some proper flavor.

The blueberry pasta on the primi was nice, but again for near €40 it won't absolutely wow you, and theres genuinely better (Rifuga Romana, Romeow, 100% Bio) and more creative and inventive food (100% Bio) for genuinely 3x less.

Our waiter was super passionate about veganism and their own produce which I love but the food just doesn't match their ambitions at all.

Pros: Passion for veganism and sustainability

Cons: Way way overpriced, The food is bland, The decor is cheap for a fine dining establishment
