Vegan doughnuts! - Edit
Big selection of vegan donuts, and they don't feel like an after thought. The non vegan donuts are clearly marked as NV, and everything else is vegan. Both the cake and yeast donuts were great! They had gluten free too, but a smaller selection (but probably a half dozen flavors). We didn't try them (we like gluten).

Great yeast and cake vegan doughnuts! - Edit
Service: 5/5, Quality: 5/5, Value: 3/5

Overall: Great yeast and cake vegan doughnuts!
Further:
Service- Staff is very friendly. They also were out of my SO's favorite doughnut but had some coming out soon. They went ahead and finished making one on the spot for her. Overall no complaints here.
Quality-We tried an assortment of yeast donuts which were quite the treat and DELICIOUS. It's been a long time since we found yeast vegan donuts so this was a treat for us. We mostly liked every doughnut we tried with the exception that my SO didn't care too much for the vortex doughnut but that ended up being my favorite so I'm not complaining. We enjoyed them so much we came back at the end of our trip for some more to make the return trip home...and I'm sorry to say none made it home.
Value- The donuts are fairly priced, though it still ends up being quite a bit. I rate this category on how much of a bargain i felt i got and this ends up being "about what i expected a vegan doughnut to cost".
Vegan options- mostly vegan donuts offered but there are some non-vegan donuts (labelled 'NV'). Only an all vegan menu can get 5/5 in this category for me.
Pros: yeast and cake donuts offered, good vibes
Cons: street parking-- may have to walk a bit.

Nice selection of delicious vegan donuts! Donuts are vegan unless labeled NV (Not Vegan). Wonderful to be in a place where vegan is the default. Yummy!

Oh Holy Donut!! - Edit
Wow. Gotta love a donut place that labels its non-vegan donuts. We got a half dozen and so tried 4 different kinds of the yeast donut. By far our favorite was the vanilla glazed, which is like the standard glazed donuts I distantly remember from the past. I wished they had a plain maple bar, but they did have a couple maples with other toppings. I've been vegan for most of 25 years, and only recently have yeasty vegan donuts seemed to available. For so long, it was only the heavy cake ones if any. Thanks to the hard workers at Vortex for making these heavenly creations. Great service! Good coffee! Great space!

Vegan doughnut delight - Edit
I appreciate that most of their doughnuts are vegan, and the ones that aren't are clearly labeled NV (not vegan). Many different flavors, both yeast and cake. Yummy. A bit on the pricey side but fine for when you want to treat yourself (or someone else). Good coffee too.

Loved their vegan 🍩 and coffee - Edit
First of all the place itself has a great vibe to it with nice staff, cool artsy decoration and stuff like that. But what convinced me even more were the many different choices of vegan donuts. We had 8 pieces and we loved the yeasty ones in all flavors. Also very good coffee. I could have hung out there all Sunday. When we left there was quite a line waiting to order so count that in when you come Sunday morning.
Read moreI also want to mention that they are on a good path to reduce single use items, which I appreciated a lot.
We found an overwhelming use of plastic and single use items in Dallas restaurants which for us as Europeans was shocking and sad to see. So it was nice to see a café making an effort to change that. (in Europe there is a ban on plastic straws and bags and we rarely see plastic cups even in take-out.)
Pros: the donuts, the coffee, the vibe

I tried one of each. They did not disappoint. - Edit
The best one was the apple walnut. I keep looking for an opportunity to go back but they close at two and I can never get there in time. The unique vegan flavors really made it an interesting sampling. I think I ended up eat six full donuts in one day.

Just Okay - Edit
I’m always excited to find vegan donuts, but these were not my favorite. My husband and I got half dozen while we were in town so I had the chance to sample a variety of flavors (both cake and yeast). They have a variety of flavors and are mostly vegan. The toppings are yummy, but the dough itself is just okay. It was a bit too doughy and plain for my tastes. They are solid, but I’ve definitely had better.

Famous doughnuts - Edit
The doughnuts were pretty good…however not really worth the 20 minute wait in line. This is a very popular place so just be prepared depending on when you get there. Also kind of disappointing that they didn’t have any vegan cake doughnuts when I went. Next time I’d go right when they open

Almost all vegan - Edit
All donuts are vegan unless labeled NV (non-vegan). Just about all flavors come in both cake and yeast style and both vegan and non-vegan. The vegan ones are so good you couldn't tell them from the NV ones. I'm not sure why they don't just make all donuts vegan.

Cons: Expensive , Not sure why they even make non-vegan donuts

This is my first stop every single time I go to Asheville. The donuts are so fluffy and there’s tons of vegan options. Love sitting inside and having a latte with the vortex donut (cinnamon with chocolate sauce swirl).

Used to be my favorite donut place until I moved to atlanta and then I realized this didn't even compare to my new regular place. I think the branding is so cute and love that the parking lot is easily accessible.
