Seitan gyros - Edit
Great place to have a fast and good seitan gyros. We had both wrap and meal versions, and both worked well. Nice and helpful staff as well.

Underwhelming - Edit
Underwhelming experience overall.
Read morePriced below average.
Food nothing like any pictures seen. Slightly too dry/burnt "gyros". No vegetables. Fries not crispy whatsoever.
It's self service. That doesn't mean we should expect unfriendliness.

Pros: It was affordable., Not crowded. (Is that a 'pro'?), Can't think of another 'pro'.
Cons: Not friendly., Mediocre food.

We were surprised by this review, especially after your reassurance that everything was fine! We are sorry that you had such a bad experience. The fact is that the majority of our reviews in Happy Cow and Google say that we have “the best vegan gyros in Athens”, “very friendly staff”, “big portions” and “fair prices”. We certainly get it, that taste IS subjective and thus we cannot be likable to everyone. We always consider the feedback from the reviews in order to get better. We believe that the comments “dry-slightly burned food”, “nothing like the pictures”, or “not much vegetables” are not really accurate since we served you in the same way we serve all our customers. But even if there was an issue with a dish, we would be more than happy to fix it for you, if we were informed. About the unavailable products, you are right, there were a few. You were unfortunate to visit us one day before our closing for summer. We will be closed for 35 days, so we decided to minimize the food waste and we discontinued a few dishes the day before. We apologize if that cause you any trouble. Finally about the “unfriendliness” this was our biggest surprise, since we’ve asked you several times if everything is ok, we even tried to fix you in a different more spacious table and finally left you settle as you felt better. The restaurant is self-service and this, sometimes, is mistaken for lack of favor. We assure you that this is not the case. We are a small co-operative company that we struggle to survive in a very difficult economy, whilst we are fighting to educate people about veganism, to spread tasty and healthy choices, to fight for animal and human rights. We have chosen to be a “self-service” place so we can have more time and energy to prepare our handmade meals. Another issue that may seem unfriendly to some people is when we ask them to pay in advance. This happens ONLY when they pay with a card and unfortunately it is not our choice. According to the latest laws in our country, we are obliged to have the receipt printed on your table while you eat. But when a customer pays with a card we have to make the transaction first, in order to print the receipt (that’s the way most ERP programs work). Otherwise, there could be a huge fine for us. We understand that there is language and/or cultural barrier sometimes. We are here to connect with other cultures, to discuss and improve ourselves. We sincerely hope that you will have a much better experience next time!

A bit disappointed - Edit
Sorry to say this, but this was the least of the several vegan restaurants we visited in Athens. The food was dry (not to say burnt) and nothing like the pictures we saw on HappyCow and Google. Also, a lot on the menu was not available.

A little out of the way but worth it. Simple but very tasty street food at reasonable prices. I had the tofu wrap & fries, my girlfriend had the tempeh bowl. Both tasted really great & nicely presented, the fries were seasoned nicely with paprika & herbs.

Amazing food, low prices - Edit
We are staying close to this place and will certainly return here. There was only one lady working there and she was really kind and helpful. We had the homemade seitan gyros and tempeh meals, and both were really good, although the gyros was the best. The prices are also really good, only 7-8 euros. Recommend going here!

Delicious Thai salad - Edit
Both times I went, what I enjoyed was the Thai salad.
Read moreNice people running the place, too.
You can find nutritious food as well, like tempeh or curry chickpea. I didn't really like their wraps with tofu or seitan.
I still have to try their desserts.

Quick and Tasty - Edit
I tried the seitan and tofu wraps, both tasty. The tofu wrap was on the sweeter side, I'd opt for the seitan wrap if I went back.

It's our third time there. We've tried gyros seitan wrap, Thai peanut salad, shawarma mushroom wrap, chickpeas with curry and rice, French fries, tempeh meal, chocolate brownie. Everything was very tasty!! My favourite was the seitan wrap and the Thai peanut salad!! I didn't take pics. You can see pics in the reviews below..portions are big.

Great people prepare for you delicious and mindful dishes. - Edit
It was a very cold evening and I was walking returning from the vinyl market carrying lovely music and so i found Veganistan on my way which was my oasis as the curried chickpeas with basmati was all I needed at that moment!!! Cosy kitchen atmosphere and we had great conversations with the lovely people who run it.

I could eat here every day... - Edit
We really enjoyed it, we had a gyros plate, the tempeh dish and a gyros tortilla. If you're really hungry, you should probably order three dishes for two, as the portions aren't very large. There is no indoor seating, which meant we were a little cold outside in winter. The chocolate banana cake and Glühwein are also highly recommended!

The best place yet. - Edit
Just simply, WOW. A vegan restaurant that offers more diverse choices that the usual smashed avacado on sourdough etc. The home made dishes are loaded with flavour, perfectly seasoned and dressed. The chickpea curry is as good as you could ever imagine and the chocolate brownie as a dessert is the perfect way to finish off a really amazing culinary experience. Congratulations to the team behind this venture. Restaurants like this are almost impossible to find, when you do, it's a real treat for your stomach and your soul.
