Vegan Heaven in the Heart of Heraklion - Edit
We visited Veganato twice during our holiday and absolutely loved it. It is a small, fully vegan spot with a cozy atmosphere and super friendly staff. You cannot make a reservation, but both times there was a table available right away.
Read moreThe platter is an absolute must try, great variety and packed with flavour. Their vegan gyros is fantastic too, really satisfying and full of authentic taste.
If you are in Heraklion and looking for great vegan food, this place is a gem. Highly recommended.

We went for take-away as the place is really tiny, still enjoying chatting a bit with the owner who is quite friendly. She wanted to make sure we acknowledge everything was plant-based before we order - obviously had negative experience with tourists reckoning this a downside. Not us, certainly :-)

Down a quiet side street this cute as a button little vegan place! The gyros was incredible. It’s small and the people are so lovely. It’s more a take away but there are a couple of seats (I’d sit it the wraps are filled up and get messy!)

Best 100% vegan restaurant in Greece - Edit
Lovely restaurant with absolutely bonkers vegan gyros with vegan tzatsiki. You can see the owner cook, she’s very friendly ; it is a cosy quiet spot in the city center and the prices are very affordable. When I went there was a vegan tiramisu that was one of the best I ever had. Unmissable !!

What a find! Gorgeous flavours and very reasonably priced. Decent portions. Small menu, but that just makes deciding what to have easier. Between us, we had a sharing platter, a falafel wrap, and a smoky soy meat wrap. All were delicious and filling. Shared a slice of cheesecake, which was probably the best vegan cheesecake I've ever eaten (and I've been vegan for more than 20 years). The lady who served us couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. A fabulous eating experience on Crete.

The Smokey Soy Wrap included soy gyros, cabbage, tomato, onion, fresh fried potatoes, barbecue sauce, and vegan mayonnaise in a pita. I didn't see or taste the cheddar sauce listed on the menu, but the wrap was flavorful without it.

Read moreI have to say here that we are a take out store with limited options but we have included in our menu some healthy option too. Like beetroot salad, pligurisious salad(like tamboule) and wraps with mushrooms that you can replace the fries with fresh organic arugula and spinach. Thanks again for your review. All the best

This cosy little place owned by Pela was one of the highlights of our stay in Heraklion. She offers delicious, freshly prepared wraps, with soy gyros, mushroom gyros and falafel. Loaded with delicious sauces and salad. There’s also a delicious bulgur salad on offer.

We loved Veganato!! If you’re in Heraklion, you have to visit there, there’s limited seating but it’s a lovely family run business serving great quality greek gyros. We ordered the beyond meat gyros, you can also choose between burgers and mushrooms as well as what sauce or wrap you’d like. We sat outside by the window and could watch them being made. This was defo one of the best meals we had on our trip, and the service was so quick and friendly. Even with a drink, the meal was super cheap and we left feeling very full and satisfied! We also got some of the pistachio ice cream afterwards which was lush.
