We were told the food would take about 35 minutes, but it was over 90 minutes until some of our food was ready. We had to go ask the staff for an update, and they gave us the 1 out of 3 meals that was ready. The other two weren’t ready until nearly 2 hours after we ordered. Staff didn’t seem to particularly care that they were inconveniencing customers and didn’t apologize for the significant wait time.

We were quoted 20 minutes for our order to be made. We checked in 40 minutes after ordering and they didn’t even start our order yet. We checked in 60 minutes after ordering and they still hadn’t even started our order. No apology. No remorse. Just a very blasé attitude and oh well. Super disappointed as we were visiting from out of state and really wanted to try their food but we couldn’t wait anymore and they couldn’t even give us an estimate of when we could expect food to be ready.

We split an order of the deluxe nachos. They were great. The chips were topped with housemade nacho sauce, Mexican rice and ground impossible. Came with quac. We devoured them and I do t even like vegan ground meat.

I asked the owner for a recommendation and he suggested the Philly plate (cheesesteak style sub with a side of beans and rice). Normally I would have passed on a Philly sandwich but I took his word for it and WOW...I'm still thinking about that plate. The flavor of the mushroom/seitan blew me away. The bun was perfectly chewy. The beans and rice could have some straight out of an abuela's kitchen. I had to go back the next day for a burrito (which smelled and tasted so delicious that I forgot to take a photo) and yet again the day after for a quesadilla. Everything was superb with incredible quality and flavor. The portions were huge and a great value.

Was traveling through Alburquerque and stumbled upon this cute lil spot. The food was delicious and they were super knowledgeable about gluten-free. Don't bother with impossible or jackfruit, get the seitan mushroom asada. We had tacos (rice, beans, salsa, salad) and a christmas burrito (chips and guac). We should have doubled one of those or gotten one other item, but it was almost enough to stuff the two of us. Everything was muy delicioso.

I’ve been here a couple of times and certainly didn’t have my socks knocked off like the previous reviewers have. The food was expensive, the portions were tiny, and it wasn’t all that good. The only highlight for me is that the Vegan Vato seems like a really nice guy. The last time I was there they were clearly very swamped and he and his help were really trying to be as attentive as they could despite being super backed up.

This food truck is an amazing find... Especially in New Mexico where vegan restaurants/food trucks are hard to come by. The tacos were the bomb diggity, I got 2 cauli tacos and 2 jackfruit tacos. I'm from out of town, so sad I won't be eating here often... But i will absolutely be going back any time I'm in town to try the rest of the menu!

I've been to Vegan Vato multiple times since they opened just a little over a year ago and have been happy every single time. You get so much food for such a reasonable price. Like really. Get the burrito or loaded fries and tell me that's not at least two meals.
