Good range of tasty options - Edit
For the location, I was impressed with the range of vegan options and I was very happy to see clear labelling! The options were inventive and not just your typical burger chips!

A Classy, Delicious Restaurant - Edit
I loved this place. Warm and friendly, classy and very representative of my feelings for the people of Maine. So often the vegan options in restaurants are throwaway ideas. Not here. Their food is meticulously flavoured and beautifully presented. Lots of attention to detail and wonderful use of spices. Our server, Sabrina, was awesome and scored 10 out of 10 with us with her recommendations. I had the best cauliflower steaks I’ve ever had along with a lovely light local craft beer. The music playing was all right up my alley too. Cannot recommend Utopia highly enough.

Decent omni place - Edit
This is a place where you can choose to dress up or not. There are a decent enough vegan options on the menu, but none of them really wowed us. The polenta fries were tasty but didn't really go well with the sauce. The falafel plate was okay but the falafels themselves were very lemony and reminded my husband of his mother's 7-Up cake. And I've never seen falafel served without tahini or anything to dip it into.

You clearly ordered the falafel platter vegan without the Tzatziki, and must of had a nut allergy thus no muhammara. You had a generous amount of hummus to substitute for dipping.

Sweet and Slow - Edit
After the delectable meal we had during our first visit to Utopia, this second visit for dinner with my wife was a delight (due not only to the quality of the food, but also to the added company of our youngest daughter). To start off, we ordered the faro salad appetizer and bowls of soup. I had the vegetable stew—a tasty montage of tomato and zucchini chunks amidst other flatteringly flavored vegetables in a broth whose unique foreign flavors were a welcome reprieve from the often acidic taste of tomato based soups served in other restaurants. The bright green coolness of fresh mint leaves in the faro salad enhanced the olive oil and poppy seed dressing. The main course that followed these savory openers was one of the most original I’ve had—a cauliflower steak slathered in a sweet and spicy sauce made from dates and hot peppers. The side of rice provided a suitably subtle diminuendo to the steak’s zesty crescendo. As with my first experience at Utopia, some of the dishes were a tad too sweet (the roasted Brussels sprouts in their bath of simple syrup are almost dessert-like; the dates in the cauliflower steak slightly overpowered the peppers; and even though I ordered the faro salad without the raisins this time, I still had to pick out the dried cherries). This and the unreasonably slow service were the only things preventing a 5-star review.

Excellent with many vegan options - Edit
Many of the items on the menu are marked as vegan or can be made vegan. Mezze platter, polenta fries, and the cauliflower steak (made vegan) were highlights and would absolutely order again. They also offer vegan desserts.

Somewhere in the middle - Edit
I was not impressed enough to want to go back. Nothing was bad about our food it just did not meet my standards as far as options and taste. I felt it was a little lacking in some areas. We got the Moroccan stew which had huge chunks of canned tomatoes and lacked seasoning. The Brussels sprouts. Those were good and different. I got the cauliflower and my husband got the falafel platter. Although the portion was small on mine it tasted good. My husband did not like his falafel. They were very dry, hard and cold. They had a Greek potato skin special that we both liked. They also have vegan Baklava. I did not like the baklava. It had to much sweetener and the balance was off for me.

Good veg options - Edit
We ate here on our recent road trip in New England. We ordered their moussaka and spanakopita. The food was delicious and the service was adequate. The vegetarian options on the menu were good. The only thing we were not happy about was that we asked them if they had any complimentary bread and dipping oil when we got there because we were famished and they said they could bring us some pita bread and olive oil. So we were happy but then when we got our bill we were surprised they actually charge us for it - something that should have been a freebie. Not good form. Note to the restaurant: the more freely you give, the more business you get!

It’s something, and presented well - Edit
The space is beautiful, the server was knowledgeable and good, asking the questions to ensure things were correct. The presentation was beautiful. Vegan spanakopita was the thing I was advised to get…

Very accommodating - Edit
We ate at Utopia last night, and it was such a nice meal. The folks working there were quite ready to make changes to items on the menu to make them vegan, and there were tons of options, particularly for vegetarians. I loved the hummus - it had pine nuts, which was a nice touch. They have a full bar and are in a pretty spot right downtown.
