A Hidden Oasis Inside Dussmann - Edit
First of all how amazing is it to have a restaurant with vegan options inside Dussmann, one of my favorite places? I initially thought it was only vegetarian, so this was a bummer.
Read moreNonetheless the space itself is absolutely beautiful. With a plant wall, gently flowing water, lots of wood, and a calm, almost meditative atmosphere, it feels like a little oasis. Perfect for taking a break after browsing books.
I have to admit I was a bit underwhelmed by the vegan selection. However, since the overall menu is quite small and curated, it still felt acceptable.
We tried the lentil and chickpea dal, which was very aromatic and flavorful, and the Berlin-style currywurst. Probably one of the more expensive versions in the city, but since I had never tried a currywurst in Berlin before, it felt like the perfect opportunity. Even without a direct comparison, I really enjoyed it the sauce was pleasantly fruity and not overly dominated by curry, which I actually liked. The fries were crispy and very good.
The homemade lemonades were also excellent. For dessert, I had a slice of apple cake (the only vegan option that day), and despite its rather simple appearance, it was full of flavor intensely apple-forward with delicious crumble on top.
Overall, it is definitely on the pricier side, but considering the beautiful setting and the overall concept, I can absolutely see myself coming back regularly even just for a drink and a moment to relax after spending time at Dussmann.
A real highlight and a heartfelt recommendation.

Expensive and tasteless - Edit
Had the pesto pasta. Was extremely bland and cost a small fortune for the portion size.

Great place for a peaceful lunch - Edit
With the back drop of the vertical garden and the central fish pond, combined with good food and a wide array of books, this is the perfect lunchtime escape.
