Small cafe--look for the sign that says "UB"

This is a small, non-corporate coffee shop. The previous reviewer correctly noted that it is hard to find, so I took photos of the signage in front (see photos--note that the sign says "UB"). You order at the counter; they have a few seats upstairs adn outside, and more (though not a lot) downstairs--you need to negotiate a steep set of stairs to reach downstairs.

They charge a vegan tax (i.e. surcharge for plant milk), and only have limited vegan options. However, the coffee is really good, and the vegan pastry I got was also excellent--and I give them a small boost in my rating for them since they are a friendly, small business.

Their one vegan cake was spectacular

I had a lot of trouble finding it owing to their poor signage. But once I went in it was lovely. It’s a tiny place with a windowless downstairs section that offers more seating and a quiet, comforting ambience. The people who work there are super nice. They happened to have a delicious black sesame and orange cake when I visited on a nice day in April 2025. Also there’s a bathroom.
