Seasonal desserts - Edit
Everything here looks so good that it's hard to make a decision, but the pistachio matcha tart was perfect! It's the best dessert I've had recently. I'll have to come back to try the Miso Caramel Kabocha Cheesecake.

Service is very fast and friendly. A truly wonderful Japanese bakery. The only downside is that it's hard to find seating

Authentic Japanese food - Edit
I haven’t Japanese cafe food or curry as authentic as this place anywhere else in Canada. The yuzu cake was amazing and the curry was so satisfying. Don’t miss it.

So cool! - Edit
I've never been to Japan, but I'd like to imagine that it's just like Tsuchi Café. We just popped in on our way out of Toronto, but what a great little place. The signage isn't really helpful, so you're likely to walk right past it!

Pros: Great food, Bidet in the washroom?!?!

cute and cozy atmosphere inside the cafe. delicious treats and drinks. I love to grab some bites here and chill. The cheesecakes taste just like the real thing and are very creamy. I also highly recommend the karepan (curry bun), which they sell as a take-home frozen package (IMO it’s even better when eaten hot)

Everything is good and I’m not exaggerating. I have tried almost all of their items and they don’t miss. Also, they put thought into everything. Cups have paper lids, washrooms are always immaculate and the service is amazing.

Good food but could use more seating - Edit
I was intent on trying the curry rice and/or other hot food items, but unfortunately the kitchen only opens on weekends and I was out of luck. Bummer! I ended up getting a kare pan (fried curry bread) and a matcha tiramisu; both were delicious. I did also check out the bathrooms because of the review below and, yes, there were very much aesthetically designed. All that said, seating was very limited—there were only three tables with six seats total and a bench by the entrance with three low coffee tables that were not at all comfortable for dining in.

Best bakery in Toronto! - Edit
I love this place so much and go often. Everything I’ve tried is so delicious, both sweet and savory options. Popular so it’s hard to find seating inside, but patio seating is available in the summer. They also do takeout/delivery. I recommend this to everyone all the time! Also weird to add but they have great bathrooms!! The inside decor is really nice.

Come here early as the better offerings can sell out by the the afternoon. Reminds me of Chinese Bakeries but this one allows for us Vegans to eat here too.

One of the best food experiences I've ever had - Edit
Vegan Japanese food can be a bit of a rarity, so I was excited to visit this cafe back in November 2022 - and it did not disappoint. One of the best meals I've ever had!! I wanted to try everything, it all looked so unique, but my partner and I settled on their weekend special, the beef curry udon (incredible, such a savory, flavorful broth) and a couple of different pastries. We really loved the almond hojicha sticky bun and the cheesecake (which wasn't too sweet!). I wish I lived in Toronto, I would come back here all the time.

Amazing vegan Japanese cafe! - Edit
Absolutely love this place! My friend and I ordered the crispy “chicken” namban burger and it was phenomenal. We also had the tiramisu and yuzu citron tart - so, so creamy and delicious. The flavours are amazing. They also have really cool beverages as well which we thoroughly enjoyed. My new fave vegan spot!

SO delicious - Edit
I think this may be my new favourite vegan eats place in Toronto both for the dessert (out of this world) and for the food itself ("beef" curry is incredible). The cafe itself is really cute. They have a few meal type menu items available at one time - yesterday they had three options. They have a glass case with various desserts. So far I've had the silk flan (amazing!) and the Yuzu citron tart which I've had twice instead of trying a new dessert because it's so delicious. I highly highly recommend going here.

Authentic Japanese supermarket quality - Edit
Being new in town, I took several guided tours. One of these guides said: Toronto has people from many countries and cultures. Therefore, there's always a restaurant with a cuisine of your choice and it will be authentic.
Read moreWith that in mind I visited "Tsuchi", which means "bottom" or rather "from the bottom up" in Japanese. This signifies that all food is vegan from the base and everything is sustainable from the base. It also means that Tsuchi does things different. There's no sushi or ramen on the menu. Fun detail: even the utensils are not made from plastic, but from plants.
Recently many of the meals have been replaced with snacks (cheese cake, cupcakes, cookies, etc.) but three meals remain. Tsuchi offers vegan karaake (which is fried chicken in Japan) and curry rice (not to be confused with Indian curry). Since the curry rice has the most vegetables and no deep fried ingredients, I chose the curry rice. And there's no doubt about it: it tasted authentic. However, it tasted like authentic Japanese supermarket quality curry. There's nothing wrong with that, just that restaurants in Japan usually do a bit better in refinement, condiments (more vegetables) and presentation.
Yet, this being a vegan version and being available in Toronto is great news. Also, it's different from the endless offer of sushi and ramen, so I pay Tsuchi a visit!
Pros: authentic Japanese taste
Cons: Japanese taste, but not Japanese quality
