Expensive cafe with some vegan options - Edit
Very expensive for what you get, paid $18 for three tiny pikelets with banana and syrup. Partner thought his meal was also pretty average and very overpriced. Coffee was OK but nothing to write home about. Can be very difficult to get a park esp on market days. Honestly there is much better available in Chch for the price.

Joyful place - Edit
Lots of vegan options in the cabinet - I had a “ka pai” which was delicious. Good coffee too. I love the hippy vibe, feels very carefree and friendly. We went during the week so it was nice and quiet.

Hit and miss - Edit
Dog-friendly café (at least for the outdoor seating) in gorgeous Lyttelton, with great coffee. The food can be hit or miss though - the fries and chocolate cake were great, but the vegan moussaka (in the cabinet) was undercooked.

Incredible - Edit
Absolutely loved this little gem of a place. I had the peace plate which had a delicious salad along with falafels and mini hash browns, hummus and pesto. So yum! Serving sizes are great and prices are also very reasonable! Fresh organic juices available also!

Great lunch in this groovy cafe..... - Edit
This is a funky cafe with good menu options & everything vegan is clearly marked on the menu boards. We had the coated cauliflower with dipping sauce & greens and the vegan nachos. Great portions & reasonable prices. Tasty, fresh food with good flavours. We shared plates & both enjoyed each of these meals.
Read moreThe cafe was busy but the counter & food service was still prompt. A sunny afternoon with live music in the courtyard made this a relaxing Saturday afternoon lunch. You can see why this cafe is popular in this community. Recommended if you're visiting Lyttleton.
Pros: Tasty food., Good vegan options., Friendly service & good value

Eclectic place, lots of vegan options - Edit
I reckon about 50% of the menu is vegan or vegan option. We had buckwheat pancakes and a peace plate (hash and salad) for breakfast. Both really good! Pancakes were a little on the heavy side but still good, huge portion and you don't need syrup thanks for delish coconut vanilla cream (syrup is optional extra but they're sweet enough trust me). Fast and polite service. Cool interior decor. Cabinet foods and smoothies also available. It cost around $40 for food and hot drinks, so price appropriate.

Kickass options for vegans here. I smashed back a dark chocolate and coconut Bounty Bar thick shake with soy ice cream in it and a big thick piece of bread with creamy mushrooms and pesto on top, with a phenomenal hash brown and salsa.

Nice Mushies - Edit
While good vegetarian food may be a challenge to find in Christchurch, Shroom Room Cafe in Lyttelton, just a little out of Christchurch is a real vegetarian treat. Admittedly we have only visited once, but the experience was pleasant enough for me to comment. The menu has numerous vegan options, plus gluten free options and they make good use of mushrooms (as you would guess). We ordered the Shroom Room Shrooms with hash browns to share and a couple of coffees. The shrooms came with a lovely pesto and yummy chutney and the hash browns were quite a bit larger than we had expected, and of course the serving of mushrooms was ample and delicious. The meal we ordered was quite massive (so it is lucky that we chose to share this dish), the coffees were okay and the staff were refreshingly happy. The décor consisted of an eclectic mix of 60s and 70s inspired bits and pieces, making it a nice informal breakfast or lunch dining experience (outdoor seating available). If we had some more time in Christchurch we would go back again and try more yummy goodies on their menu!
