Great brunch spot! - Edit
Found this place whilst staying in East london and looking for breakfast. Staff were very friendly and food was delicious. Lots of options to choose from and lots of seating! I got the full English which was a great portion size, very filling and delicious!

Favourite spot in London – and that says a lot! - Edit
I literally visit here at every opportunity...
Read morethe coffees are fantastic and their juices are so refreshing too! pancakes were so light and fluffy, and their mezze platter at the weekend is a really flavourful and yummy option too!
the venue itself is lovely, especially the back garden. a must-visit, especially in the summer months

Gave this place another go and it was terrible - Edit
Main course was inedible and I had to return it and swapped it for a doughnut which was stale!!!
Read moreThey need to get Black Cat Hackney in to run it as they don’t know what they are doing.
The girl behind the counter was lovely but mortified by the dreadful food she is forced to sell.
Very bad for the reputation of the vegan community.
They have tried to “dumb-down” the food by just doing sandwiches recently because they were unable to be consistent with plant based meals.

Pros: They own a load of buildings freehold , Killer outside space front & back
Cons: Food can be hit & miss depending on the chef , Dreadful food , Bad for the reputation of the vegan community

Fully Vegan - full breakfast needs more flavour - Edit
Had a full vegan English breakfast. It looked great - not the tastiest, but pepper and sriracha made it better. I would honestly put more flavour in the scrambled tofu.
Read moreBut other than that, the place is beautiful and there are extensive good stuff to order for dessert (which I totally love!)
The red juice (ginger, beetroot, cucumber- was super refreshing! ). Loved it!
The garden was spacious and beautiful- although it rained, it was great they had a covered area for when it rains.
Also found it a bit disappointing that even at 12-ish their lunch menu was not ready yet.
But service was really great. Everyone was helpful.

Bland and confused breakfasts at the big GC - Edit
Don’t get into London as a couple often, so we always research for the best vegan food before committing to travel and eat. Several websites had this café as ‘number 2’ on their list of best places for a vegan breakfast. It had mixed reviews and there’s always idiots who post, so thought we’d give it a chance, so here goes ….
Read more‘Full English Breakfast’ - It looked good! The mushroom, tomato and toast were nice. I can accept a shop bought processed sausage as they’re really difficult to make, but a Linda McCartney sausage??? They’re so bready, dry and dated you’d think the big GC would upgrade, especially when it costs a tenner? The beans were pretty bland, the potatoes also bland and the kale was mushy. What really disappointed us was the scrabbled tofu - it was tasteless and the carrot didn’t add (could have been blanched as far as we could tell as it provide zero flavour). I finished it, so it wasn’t a disaster, but very ‘bland’ overall.
‘????’ - It looked good too - bags of colour but completely unbalanced. The toasted ciabatta was nice as was the cucumber ‘dip’ in the middle. The beetroot hummus was delicious as was the roasted veg and jackfruit in the middle, but the rest was odd. She loves anything pickled but the red cabbage was even too much for her. The falafel cakes were hard and having being warmed up, they were dry and pretty unpalatable to both of us. If you didn’t know better, you’d have believed they’d thrown whatever they had left onto a plate to fill it. Overall, there were some delights in this rather eclectic plate of food but it was confusing, lost and went unfinished.
‘Dirty Chai’ - Wowwee. What a difference a shot of espresso makes. Even if you don’t like coffee, try it - it just adds a twist. We’ll done you - my new fave treat.
‘Juices’ - Amazing. The green one with apple, spinach, ginger, lemon and cucumber was uplifting. The pineapple orange and carrot a great breakfast drink.
Sitting in the back garden on sunny Sunday morning gave the place a relaxed, sedate, get away from it all feel, but neither this, the amazing dirty chai or wonderful forces could make up for the mediocre (at best) breakfasts.
Sadly, with so much choice, we’ll not be back and won’t recommend.
Sorry 😞

I’ve given this place about 10 second chances as I LOVE the garden. They have NEVER 👎 got it right on any of those second chances.
Read moreIt’s a major earner for the whole charity and yet they just can not get this right. Too many people just waiting for retirement who don’t care anymore methinks. I’d put money on that being the source of the incompetence

Great avo toast and deal for coffee and pastry - Edit
One of those places which has been around since ever and apart from a smoothie years ago i finally paid them a visit. Had cliche avo toast, I must say was one fo the best avo toast ever! with great grilles asparagus, sun-dried tomatoes and seeds! They had a deal on pastry and coffee and that was great as well:).

Breakfast isn't great - Edit
Had high expectations for the full English breakfast however it really wasn't great. Massively lacking in flavour and just a bit odd. The tofu scramble was strangely sweet (?) and the mushrooms tasted like they might have gone off prior to being cooked.

Worst Vegan breakfast - Edit
I can’t rate 1 star!
Read moreMe and partner had a vegan breakfast to share (so glad we didn’t order two portions) IT WAS APPALING. Burned sausages, tasteless tofu, bitter baked beans, stale potatoes, they even managed to ruin the mushrooms.
No to even mention the green juice, it tasted fine, but god knows when was it made.
The only thing that saves this venue is the garden!
Pros: The garden

Disappointing - Edit
Place was not too busy but by 5.30 food on display nearly ran out. We had one chocolate ball and a "donought", the only things left. They were both dry and poorly made. Everything was ridiculously expensive. Cafe is nice with a lovely conservatory.

Hi there, thank you for your feedback. We can get busy and run out of some dishes, which will always be clearly labelled. If there is an issue with anything you buy, please do talk to our staff, and they'll be happy to offer you something else. We appreciate your feedback on the price and, to reflect our ethos as being a non-profit community cafe, we recently reduced our prices so no main dishes are now over £10. I had the bowl with nuts and seeds. It didn’t look much but it’s pretty stuffing. Americano was the best I tried for quiet a while. Compared to Cologne prices are a bit tough but I guess that’s London style :-D

Not so great.... - Edit
Came here on a Monday morning and it wasn’t very busy but despite staff standing around they don’t bring your drinks to you. Ordered a full breakfast and pancakes but my partner had finished his by the time mine arrived. Another couple who arrived just after us had ordered the same and received their food before me. Food was just ok but was not impressed at all by the service and won’t be back.

Just OK - Edit
We came here for breakfast on a Friday. We didn’t have to wait long and the food came out fairly quickly. The muesli was good, but we also tried the pancakes and were very disappointed. The pancakes are extremely glue-like in texture, not sweet enough, and the chocolate sauce did nothing to add to the flavor. I probably would not come back here again, just because we were so disappointed with our breakfast and the tables all seemed to be very wobbly. While trying to cut our pancakes, the table wobbled so much my water spilled all over the table. My friend was not impressed with the pancakes and only had a bite or two. Also, I got a green juice and they ran out of greens, so they just added more apple, which I feel like they should have asked or told me about before making the juice.
