A great place

The atmosphere of the place was great, loved the decor. The food was good, very healthy and refreshing. Thought it was a bit expensive though!
I went again and got the soup of the day with vegan cheese on toast and it was super tasty and warming.

Fab place

The egg cafe is tucked away and as you go up the staircase it seems a bit suss and run down. But the place is lovely. Really quirky, hippy vibe. The food is always slamming, great salads, great cakes, always fresh water to help yourself too. Staff are so friendly and helpful. I always eat here when I’m in a Liverpool, so much so I hardly go anywhere else! Pizza night is ace and they do some unusual flavours. Doesn’t get any better than this!

Pros: Everything

Cons: Nothing

Oldschool Lunch/Brunch Spot

Def a homely feel, food is healthy and has more traditional vegetarian/vegan options. The soup and panini deal for £7.50 is solid and the paninis are nice.

Pros: Plenty of options, Cheap, Really close to Lime St Station

Cons: Not the most avant garde menu

Plenty of vegan choice

This week I had the vegan breakfast for brunch and it was good. The scrambled tofu is delicious. Price is good. Coffee is good.

Pros: Lots of options , Delicious coffee , Friendly staff

Cons: Not always as clean as I would like , A hippie vibe which is ok if you’re into it , Not accessible- lots of stairs up to get to it

Simple, rustic and tasty

Visited here whilst on a hen do in Liverpool. The bridal party was also vegan and so we got recommended here as we were staying close by. Simple and tasty food & large portions. I had the vegan quiche that came with a salad and pasta salad too. Would like to try the Sunday roast if ever I’m visiting again!

Pros: Majority of the menu is vegan , Large portions, Tasty homemade food

Cozy place and great food

At first I didn't find the entrance and was already sad that they had closed down. You habe to go to the second floor and the sing outside is quite tiny but once you find it it's awesome! Many vegan options and though it might seem pricy at first for me the portions were very big.
I had the vegan scrambled tofu toast which could've been a bit tastier/saltier for my taste but otherwise was nice.
Atmosphere is very cute, nice music as well.
Overall very positive experience!

Pros: Huge portions, Very cute and cozy atmosphere , Homemade vibe

Cons: They didn't have the 2 things I wanted to order, A little pricy , A bit hard to find the entrance

Great value, filling, homely food

Lovely filling vegan and veggie food. We had fried breakfasts, mine a vegan one and my partner the vegetarian one. Flavourful and generous portions, loved the thick cut bread! Great that the breakfast includes a drink too, we paid the £1 for espresso based drinks and they were great. The entrance to the cafe is a bit strange and confusing but once you're inside the decor is quirky and inviting with that classic "veggie cafe" feel that I remember being commonplace in my early veggie and began days, was nostalgic.

Cheap and reliable

Been around for years. Massive plates of food. They generally have 2-3 vegan mains and their vegan cheese on toast is fab. Just a pity they won't go full vegan .

Super relaxed setting and great grub

Love this place, super chilled setting, food is great and fairly priced with decent portions. Good choice of vegan options and desserts too! Always happy after a visit.

Pros: Vegan dessert!, Good choice of mains , Fairly priced

Cons: Taking a pram up all the stairs is awkward , Toilets could be revamped but alright

Classic veggie cafe

I've always loved The Egg Cafe, it is a relaxed location with loads of healthy options. Really nice place to hang out and have a delicious meal. I love that they are now open late for evening meals and the staff are always very friendly. They also have the best salads around!

My favourite veggie hangout 💚

Update: visited today for first time since pandemic began and love the little changes. Table service with menus at the moment to make social distancing easier.

We eat here at least once a week (usually Sunday brunch 😍) and use it as a great spot for when families are visiting or to go with friends. Great, multiple vegan options with changing specials keep it fresh whilst the old favourites (hummus plate) stay strong. Some lovely soft drinks and cakes too. We've spent hours here with cups of tea, chocolate crunch and the latest local leaflets and newspapers. Lovely staff. Affordable. Generous portions. Gorgeous setting - think plants, lots of light and space. What more could a veggie cafe need?

January 2019 update - now serving vegan cheese! Amazing.

Not much to write home about

Egg cafe was one of the first vegan places I discovered when moving to Liverpool so I used to frequent the place a fair amount.

The gluten free food options are so underwhelming and very hot and cold. Either the meal will be great or awful there’s no inbetween. A lot of the gf options are dry and tasteless which is such a shame.

The staff there are also really hot and cold - it feels like you’ve walked into someone’s home and asked them to cook you dinner 🍽 sometimes - a few are really unwelcoming and rude if they’ve gotten the order wrong etc. One time we went in for milkshakes and they were that nice we went in again whilst the weather was still nice. The second shake we had was really truly awful and when we asked the staff what was different they said it was a different chef and they make shakes how they like - which I thought was a bit bizarre as consistency should be important.

Saying that I really do enjoy the setting. Also when they do have gf cakes in they’ve generally been really tasty.

Overall it’s a bit hit and miss for the savour food, the desserts are nice and the level of customer service really depends on the which day you do in.

Pros: Cakes are lovely, Scenery/setting

Cons: Customer service , Gluten free options

Was okay!!

Was a little bit of a strange location and had to walk up a load of stairs. It was very quirky but it looked a little old and outdated. There wasn’t anything that caught my eye on the menu as it was standard and things I could have had at home and there was too many other options elsewhere but I had a drink and it was a nice place to visit. I’m possibly being a little harsh but it wasn’t for me. All in all a perfectly fine place if you’re passing by.

Pros: Vegan options

Cons: Strange place , Loads of stairs to climb

Gem

Couldn’t get in where we intended and I’m glad we couldn’t.
Clean, quiet and absolutely perfect for a lush Sunday breakfast. Full vegan was top notch. The tofu scramble absolutely lush.
I don’t understand why more folks don’t rave about egg because she’s a gem of a find.

A great start for vegans and vegetarians

We came here about 4 years ago. It was night time and it was bloody hard to find I tell ya!
It was worth it though, they had these love dimly lit candles on the tables and it felt somewhat romantic! The tables could do with not being as close to each other though.

As a non-vegan back in the day, I really enjoyed the offerings here and ordered a bit too much for two people!
Had the quiche, spicy burger and I think that there was a shepherds pie in a bowl. Nonetheless, everything was yummy, the bean burger was definitely vegan whereas the other two was vegetarian.
