Staff are friendly, they offer gluten free and the toppings/flavours are good. I was really excited to come here and I'd never want to write a negative review for a vegan place.
Read moreHowever the shop reeks of off coconut oil and the doughnuts themselves taste overwhelmingly of it. The oil has clearly been open too long and is no longer fresh. This is especially off putting for the high price they charge.
They got my donut from the back (frozen) and it was served hot on the outside and cold/semi frozen inside since there were no gluten free flavours I wanted out already, so i'd think this means it was freshly deep fried, but either way it tasted of the off coconut oil so badly D:
My partner's normal non-gf donut also tasted of off coconut to him and his was from the window display so i'm not sure it even makes a difference where it comes from..
I had hoped to buy a box but I couldn't finish even the one :(

The Better Doughnut is a hidden gem in Tulum. All Vegan and so many options like lattes, milkshakes and doughnuts. Everything is high quality and hand made including the delicious chai mix! They even have gluten free options that are delicious! If this wasn't enough the staff is so helpful and welcoming. I highly recommend stopping in if you are in the area!

I love this place! The donuts are not so sweet, this is not usually a kind of food I would eat! Usually donuts make my teeth hurt! These were delicious and I ate the whole thing! I had the orange ginger, glazed donut with orange cream inside. I also tried my husband’s chocolate. They were both delicious. The smoothies were very good, sweetened with honey or maple syrup.

The flavors and presentation is great. They're nicely sweetened, not too much and not plain (just like the beverages). But the coconut oil flavor on EVERYTHING is very overwhelming. They're very tasty but not sure I'd buy again for that reason.

Delicious! All vegan! With gf options - call ahead and they can make any flavor gf in 20 min. I got the Pistachio crème filled donut. They have a punch card, but 12 get 1 free - nice owners, I believe they are American but the kitchen staff are Mexicans😄the tip jar goes to the kitchen staff so please tip!

Absolutely blown away by this place. All aspects of it. Best vegan donuts I’ve had so far in 7 years. Alongside the rare phenomenal quality of the ingredients, organically grown, fried in coconut oil not vegetable oil, maple syrup and cane sugar not white sugar or GMOs. And all the variety of flavours is next level (Boston cream, Black Forest etc) it just gets me so happy!

We ate our donuts in the back yard which is absolutely gorgeous and feels like a luxe jungle.
I had the orange ginger, and gf strawberry cruller, both very sweet. I couldn’t finish either because they are humongous and my eyes were bigger than my tummy space😂 My absolute FAVORITE, though, was the gf pineapple fritter!! They made it fresh for me and it was perfectly sweet, crunchy, soft and fulfilling
I’m definitely coming back next time I’m in Tulum, and ordering the mini donuts so I can try even more flavors!😆

Better doughnut has some of the best vegan doughnuts ever. They are light and very flavourful and there are so many to choose from. The owners are lovely and will let you try out some of the flavours before you buy. There are plenty of gluten free options, I even tried the Apple fritter gf and it was amazing. If a favour is not on the shelf they will make it fresh for you. Could not reccomend them enough.

Super yummy doughnuts!!! I was so excited to see such a variety of flavours as being a vegan you don't tend to get lots of options. This place has not only a variety of tasty flavours, there was clearly creativity in the ingredients. The owner kindly made up small tasters of each flavor so you could sample before you buy. The Better Donut serves visually beautiful donuts made with organic flour, coconut oil, maple syrup, and other quality ingredients, and the resulting taste and texture place them in the realm of breakfast-worthy baked goods.

It’s still a lot of bread and sugar for our tastes, but a nice treat. I wish they had my favorites (cinnamon rolls and apple fritters), but maybe I’m lucky they don’t.
