Friendly, knowledgeable staff

went for the set menu which was great value at £20. Cauliflower and mushroom soup was very tasty followed by Confit Aubergine, Puy Lentil & Red Wine Ragout, Quinoa which lacked flavour. Staff very kindly substituted set dessert for me for the cheese board which was good with tasty crackers.

Pros: Vegan, Friendly staff , Good atmosphere

Cons: Main course lacked flavour

Great concept, but a bit disappointing

We went for Sunday lunch and were the only people there for about 80 minutes, which was a shame as it meant atmosphere was lacking. Nicely laid out and decorated. The Sunday lunch set menu was a bit disappointing except for the dessert place which was really tasty and beautifully presented. I think we were perhaps a bit unlucky and I would certainly give the place another try.

Pros: Helpful staff, Nice setting , Some really tasty highlights

Cons: Set Sunday lunch menu disappointing, Small portions, Some dishes a bit bland

A bit bland

Called in tonight about 6:30 no problem with a table staff were very good answered any questions I had re the menu.
Ordered the plantain ice cream and Billtong starter certainly a different style. With the ice cream being frozen the flavour of the plantain was masked. The Billtong was good but as a dish a bit weird!!

For main I had a mushroom Rosti amongst roasted squash, pineapple plantain vegetable chips and a gravy. Other than the mushrooms it was all very orange and not a great plate for £15.

Rather than dessert I went for the Cheese board which was probably whilst being to me original was very good however the all 3 mild cheeses were overtaken and totally lost by the very good onion relish.

The staff were excellent explained. All that came out and the environment was very good....More Flavour please

Pros: Full vegan menu, Staff were excellent , Surroundings very nice

Cons: All a bit bland, Main course was expensive , Drinks prices very reasonable

Fantastic food, great service

Best restaurant I've been to since becoming vegan.
The flavours were exquisitely well balanced and accurate.
The service was very nice, professional and helpful.
The atmosphere was quite relaxed and semi-formal.
The prices are as you'd expect from a casual fine dining place, but not nearly as high as regular fine dining places.

Great fine dining

Been a couple of times, once for Sunday lunch which was amazing for £25. Had the 10 course tasting menu the other time, amazing food all round and good value for the amount of work and creativity that goes into the dishes.

Pros: Creative food at it's best.

Cons: None

wanted to this place but left feeling disappointed!

I really wanted to love this place. I really did! But I did end up leaving hungry and slightly disappointed. We went for my 30th and opted for the 10 course tasting menu. I found it to be fairly hit or miss, with some courses showing real creativity and others lacking the finesse that I was hoping to see, or were just let down by taste combinations that were absolutely bizarre and simply didn’t work. I’ve eaten in plenty of Michelin starred restaurants over the years so not entirely unfamiliar with unusual combinations but a few of the courses here just did not work for me. Staff were sweet and friendly, although the restaurant itself was so cold I ended up putting my jacket on part way though!

Vegan taster delights, fine dining

Finally managed to try this delight! Saw it on happy cow and have wanted to try it for ages.

There was a group of 8 of us, half got 10 courses for £55, and the others got 7 courses for £40. There was a drinks menu to match each course for £25 but a lot of us were driving so we didn’t try this. Various wines, hot drinks and soft drinks were also available.

The table water was flavoured with cucumber and mint, really nice combination. I’ll be trying it at home!

Each course tantalised my taste buds in different ways, combinations of hot and cold, sweet and savoury and an array of different flavours and textures. Definitely what I’d describe as ‘posh’ food, and it’s an experience worth trying.

The courses were beautifully presented, small and spaced out. We arrived at 7pm and left after 11pm! In hindsight I would’ve gone earlier, we were all quite tired by the end plus a lot of us travelled a fair distance.

It wasn’t completely filling compared to other experiences dining out but I suppose that’s ‘fine dining’.

There was no parking at the venue, they advised to park at the Churchgate car park - 3 minutes walk away, free after 6pm.

Inside there was a relaxed ambience, candles on the tables. The decor was light and warm. The chefs could be seen behind the counter working up the delicious dishes. The service was great and all meals arrived at the same time. They were accommodating and allowed us to rearrange the tables so that we could all sit together.

I would come here again, perhaps for a special occasion and when the menu has changed.

If you’re looking for an alternative dining experience, then try it out!

Pros: Fully vegan , Great service , Delicious food

Fine vegan dining

We travelled from the West Midlands and booked an overnight hotel just in order to try this gastronomic experience and it did not disappoint.

A modest space in a modest town, this modernist and progressive restaurant redefines what a vegan restaurant can be. It is all about the food, offering a delightful and surprising experience with each dish from a set menu of 7 or 10 dishes passionately and painstakingly prepared by by the chef and owner who has honed his skill in France and Rosette starred restaurants.

As unpretentious as fine dining can be in a welcoming, friendly and diverse environment it offers a evening’s glimpse into how a better future may taste.

I urge you to try it.

Go out of your way to get here

The food changes frequently so I can't tell you what to get, but all of my dishes were wonderful. Perhaps the cauliflower buffalo wings are a regular feature so I can tell you for sure to get those – but save room for dessert. Delightful local craft beer on offer as well. Get here.

You have to visit

There are no words that can adequately give justice to this fine dining experience. In fact, the only way to describe the food is by multiplying every yummy noise ever by ten and putting on constant replay. We have visited on a umber if occasions. I am vegan, my husband is not, but equally enjoys all of the food. Seriously, you need to try this place. You will not be disappointed. The service is excellent, too. Oh, try their homemade cordials!

Pros: All vegan, Gluten free, Great price for fine dining

Very Creative, fun, and delicous food

The food was excellent, between us we ordered one of everything (including sides) and it was all delicious. The prestarter/premain/predessert were unexpected bonuses, and each was unusual and delightful.

Pros: Food was very creative, Complimentary Pre-Meal dishes, All vegan

Impressive, Creative Food

I was so looking forward to visiting The Allotment, and it really didn't disappoint. It's quite different from other places in Manchester's vegan scene because it's all-vegan fine dining. The dishes are really creative and beautifully presented, and they taste as good as they look. The menu is so exciting and tempting that it's difficult to choose what to order.
For starters, I had the apple&sage and my partner had the winter garden. Both had really food flavours, though general consensus was that mine was better. The mains were equally good: taste of the sea and cheese and onion. And for dessert the lemon cheesecake and black sesame panna cotta were both excellent. Usually after this kind of meal you don't expect to feel full, but we were actually very well fed.
The restaurant has a really nice atmosphere, and service was really friendly too - we enjoyed it so much.
Of course, it's a little expensive, but I think it's good value for money when you have a special occasion.

Pros: Delicious food, Excellent service

Fine dining at chain restaurant prices

We went to The Allotment for my daughters birthday and had the Sunday dinner which was £25 for 3 courses. The staff are lovely and welcoming and very polite. The food was amazing! You get hummus and veg sticks while you wait for your starter, but because its the allotment it was pumpkin hummus and beetroot sticks and it was yummy. Starter was soup of the day which was cococnut and ginger and perfectly seasoned, warm and perfect portion size. For main we had the aubergine roast dinner. I have to say I am not a fan of aubergine and The Allotment hasnt changed my view, but the rest of the meal was amazing, the best gravy I have ever eaten! My daughter didnt want the roast dinner so she chose courgette cannelloni which came with hummus and pesto and she adored it! She couldnt finish it all (she has a long term illness and small appetite) but this was no reflection on the cooking. The server came and spoke to her to check that she was satisfied with the dish because she left so much, which was very nice. Before dessert we had pre-dessert of strawberry and coconut cream which was very nice. My daughter had carrot cake dessert and tried desperately t finish it all, but was once again defeated. I had the brownie with sweet potato icecream. It was to die for! So chocolately and rich and that icecream! Who knew you could do such things with sweet potato?! Wonderful! We will be back.

Pros: Tasty food, Lovely staff, Good value

First class gourmet vegan food

The Allotment is one of a kind in the Greater Manchester area. Superb, fine dining vegan food created by a very talented chef who has worked very hard to make this restaurant happen and provide a new offering for vegans and 'foodies' in the region. Do come if you appreciate creative, gourmet food, that is about the experience, flavour, and attention to presentation and detail, and you're happy to pay for that. Don't come if a Wetherspoons 2 for 1 meal deal is your idea of splashing out on dinner. Personally, I think this restaurant is one of the greats.

Pros: Incredible food, Gourmet experience , Accessible location
